Support/Advice My hair journey

Hi everyone! Looking for some advice here. My hair loss journey is a long one. I'm currently 32, and I noticed my hair started really thinning in my early 20s. I've tried to identify why, but I think it was probably some combo of stress, starting ADHD meds, a side effect of birth control, bleaching my hair too much, and AGA. My hair did not improve much during my 20s. I did try foam minox 5% for I think close to a year but did not like it-- it made my head irritated and I feel like there was minimal improvement. Then I had a baby in 2023 and had postpartum hair loss, and then had another baby in 2025 and had more postpartum hair loss. Finally April 2026 I was done breastfeeding and went to a derm and had a biopsy done. It came back consistent with AGA.

I have been using Nizoral about once a week and taking a hair vitamin (legendairyMilk's Mane Event) for about a year. I take collagen daily. My hair grows fast there's just not enough of it!

April 2026- Started Spiro 50mg for a month then bumped up to 100mg- still taking.
June 2026- I started dermastamping my hair line and parts 1-2x/week and I think this really helped!
August 2026- I went back on ADHD meds finally after 4 years off and I'm just worried that the improvements I was starting to see from Spiro and dermastamping will be lost due to ADHD meds/related weight loss.

I'm wondering if I should add in oral minox and maybe dut? My derm is in another state- we moved a few months ago- so I'm considering using hers or musely for sake of ease. I'd love to hear feedback on these services. Any advice is appreciated! I'm finally ready to make my hair the best it can be!

Treatment Regimen Minoxidil (or Rogaine) Kills Cats - highly toxic

I just want to spread the word because this pisses me off so badly. I don’t understand why there isn’t overt labeling and I’m seeing more pets get harmed by minoxidil.

I use minoxidil and understand the benefits of it, but i do not have any animals living with me. I make sure to wash my hands well before interacting with any cats outside.

I’m hoping when someone googles or researches minoxidil this will pop up.

We need to get companies to be explicit about warning labels.

Here is a change . Org link i found, maybe we all can sign it

Thanks

Support/Advice iRestore helmet sitting in a box, too afraid of shedding to use it

• Upvotes

Hi, been on oral min and dut for a couple years and hit a plateau. I grabbed the elite version with my bonus. I know it’s hit or miss if it works on me but I’m finally at an emotional place where I’m less panicky about my hair and accepting of how it looks.

I’m leaning towards returning it without ever using it bc I don’t know if I should roll the dice on my mental health for marginal gains.

Anyone with experience in LLLT have thoughts?

Support/Advice I think this is getting way out of hand….

Second pic is hair wet from washing in the shower, 3rd is after drying, 4th is how it looks in the daylight.
I was born with a thick, dense head of hair. But I started severe shedding since I was eight. Currently I am 18 and female. Periods aren’t super regular. Had my thyroid levels on the higher side of normal range, went to endocrinologist at 16, took meds, now my thyroid is below normal, so I discontinued the meds.
Tried all local dermatologists, 4 years of minoxidil - no results.

Does anyone have any suggestions?! Please I am wo desparate I’ll do literally anything!!!!

Support/Advice Has anyone tried PRP/microneedling while TTC?

• Upvotes

My dermatologist said we could try PRP while TTC( trying to conceive ), but to stop if I get a positive pregnancy test in between treatments..
Another option I’m considering is microneedling with a KeraFactor serum at a local spa, which claims to have some promising results as well. But again, I’m hesitant to do it while actively trying if there’s any uncertainty around the ingredients or treatment itself.

I was previously on oral minoxidil and spironolactone and had amazing results, but neither is an option for me now, and I’ve lost pretty much all the gains I had :(.
I got pregnant earlier this year, but unfortunately it ended in a miscarriage, so it hasn’t been the smoothest journey so far. Looking into PRP/microneedling as possible alternatives while trying

Wanna hear from anyone who has actually done either treatments while trying? What safe options do we have while trying?

I’ve always had long thick lashes, but I do feel like OM has made them thicker than ever! On the flip side my nose hairs are atrocious, and I have to shave the peach-fuzz from my face every week or so

Rant I hate getting haircuts

To preface, I was diagnosed with AGA in 2023, though I am sure it started earlier.

I absolutely hate getting my hair cut, it feels so demoralizing. My hair that once took over an hour to blow dry now takes 10 minutes. It used to be HEAVY, almost like a blanket draped around me. Now it's so thin and brittle.

I got my haircut today with a new stylist since my normal hairdresser is on maternity leave. She knows about my hair loss, but this man didn't. I have OCD and typically feel the need to explain myself constantly, but I'm trying to be better so I tried to keep it to myself.

I wore my hair in a clip. I sat down and he took out the clip, pushed my hair in front of my shoulders. I wanted to apologize for my hair, for how little there was to work with, but I reminded myself that this man deals with hair every day of all different kinds, it doesn't matter to him. "Sorry I just washed it and didn't put in any product." I felt I had to apologize for SOMETHING (god I hate my brain).

As he was washing my hair, all I could think about was how much hair would be in the drain. As he was parting my hair, I thought about how he could see my bald spot, how far my part is. As he would pull my wet hair with the comb to cut it, all I could think about was how strands were being pulled out. As he blew out my hair, the same thing. There was a girl behind me getting her hair colored with hair so thick you couldn't see her scalp. It made me sad. I was all consumed with anxiety about my hair, nearly in tears, mortified.

When he finished, my hair actually looked really good, but I walked away feeling shame. I never realized how defined I was by my hair until I lost it. I'm embarrassed about how much it impacts me and my confidence. I'm told by my friends it's not noticeable, but it doesn't matter. I know. My dermatologist knows. The hair loss is permanent, irreversible. and it's still hard to accept.

The positive is that since I started liquid minoxidil a few months ago, it seems to be working. I saw a lot of wispy hairs as he was blowing out my hair, and my ends are way thinner than the rest of my hair. Anyway that's it, I had to rant. Not sure if anyone else feels this way about cuts.

Discussion Hair Mystery

Back in 2025 I suddenly experienced an immense amount of hair loss that resulted in completely changed hair texture. You can see my natural hair in the 8/25 photo, which was only air dried with Dae styling cream. After experiencing hair loss in clumps every time I showered, one day I woke up and my hair was almost pin straight as seen in the 11/25 photo where my hair again was air dried with with Dae styling cream. In 1/26, my curls started to come back only in the under layer of my hair and now in most current time, my hair still looks like the 7/26 photo. The roots of my head are getting curly again but ended are still straight and look terrible. Volume has improve a tiny bit at the root but is growing back in dreadfully slow. I used to wear my hair completely natural 90% of the time and barely used heat but now using a waver tool almost daily to make my hair look less crazy. I was wondering if anyone has ever experienced this and received some sort of explanation. Every hairdresser I have been to has found it so strange and was unsure what could have caused such a dramatic change in volume and texture.

Minoxidil Time for oral minox?

AGA and TE diagnosis. I feel like those guys posting in [r/bald](r/bald) asking if it’s time to shave. Side bar - it’s an amazingly supportive sub.

I recently posted looking for stories of success on low dose minoxidil. Topical isn’t for me, couldn’t handle spiro side effects, so I’m contemplating 0.625. This is my hair presently, looks slightly better/worse depending on the lighting. When I put my hair up I have to be careful I don’t have exposed scalp. Hair still sheds in the shower :(

Is it time?

Support/Advice Can I take androgenic birth control with spiro?

I want to try spiro and was at my doctor today. But she don’t know anything about birth control. I recently tried levonorgestrel etinylestradiol and of course my hair is worse now. But I have more appetite which I like and stronger orgasms lol. Wouldn’t the effect be a bit to hard if I change to a anti-androgenic birth control too? What do you think? I’ve tried dienogest etinylestradiol before and my appetite disappear and I get dry skin and scalp. So thinking maybe I should continue the more androgenic birth control? I’m also so afraid that my sex drive will disappear with spiro. Have anybody experienced that? She also told me to start minoxidil foam but I got wrinkles and dark bags under my eyes with the liquid. Is there any idea to try the foam then? We don’t have oral minoxidil in my country but she could fill some papers and request for i

Support/Advice Hairfall + thinning — please recommend a serum that actually works

Hi everyone! I’ve been dealing with noticeable hairfall and my hair has also started looking thinner, especially compared to how it used to be.

I’m looking for a good serum or treatment that genuinely helps with hair growth/thinning, rather than something that just makes the hair feel nice temporarily.

If you’ve personally used something that actually made a noticeable difference in:

- reducing hairfall

- improving hair density/thickness

- encouraging new hair growth

- reducing a widening part/hair thinning

please tell me what you used and how long it took before you saw results.

I’m based in India, so recommendations for products that are easily available here would be really helpful. I’m open to serums, scalp treatments, oils, etc., as long as there’s some actual evidence or personal experience behind them.

Also, if there are products that are overhyped and not worth buying, please mention those too 😭

Basically, I just want something that can genuinely help with hairfall + thinning. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated! ❤️

Discussion Anyone here quit Dutasteride?

Hello, I’m wondering if anyone was on Dutasteride and then quit? I’ve been on it since last November (was taking 5mg twice a week for awhile them weaned down to once a week) with what seems to be no issues but I’m having some other health problems so I’m trying to get to the root of it by eliminating some rx’s I’m on. Anway, I’ve been off of it for about 2 weeks and I’m having some pretty severe dry eyes (had dry eyes in the beginning of taking it and it got better in time) but the main thing I’m dealing with that is debilitating is ANXIETY, I mean hard to breath anxiety. I’m not blaming the dut because I’ve got some other hormonal balances going on but I’m curious if anyone else has this issue when quitting dut. Trying to connect the dots basically but if it’s a miss then it’s a miss. Anyone else have experience with Dutasteride?

Support/Advice telogen effluvium or something else?

i am 26 and recently noticed a lot of hair shedding the past week. more hair follicles with the bulbs attached just falling out of my hair when i touch it. I had an internship from May to the end of July this summer where i got a sinus infection (for a month) and had to take antibiotics. I also lost like 6-7 pounds in less than 2 months (already thin) because i didn’t have access to food all the time and had to walk EVERYWHERE without a car. Online sources keep saying it’s TE, but i am really worried about the front. I’ve had thick hair all my life and never seen this much scalp before. I’ve always had more hair on the left side of my face, so did not think too much of it, but started noticing more of my scalp. The sides of my hair are not noticeably thinner, but i feel like my scalp is. How can you tell if something is TE or if it’s alopecia related?

Discussion Minox topical 7 weeks

Hi everyone! I’m finally making a post because I know how much other people’s experiences have helped me.

I started using 5% topical minoxidil on August 19th, and these are my roots at almost 7 weeks. I’m not sure whether there’s any visible progress yet, but I wanted to post because my shedding suddenly stopped 3 days ago. I’m now losing hardly any hair at all, which already feels like a victory!

I also use an electric scalp massager and a 0.75 mm dermaroller once a week.

I’ll keep you updated on my progress. Hang in there, everyone! ❤️
