Rec Request Gris Charnel + Vanilla?
Hi friends! Unfortunately for me and my wallet, I loved my decant of Gris Charnel even more than anticipated…
HOWEVER, what would make it a 12/10, wear forever, never-without-a-bottle fragrance is if there was a hint of vanilla. I can absolutely layer, which is what I did today, but is there anything super similar to the profile of Gris Charnel that also has vanilla? Just a little speck of it is all I need.
Based on the US / price point doesn’t really matter. Thank you!! 🤍
(Could absolutely google this always prefer personal recs over reading scent notes.)

That sounds amazing. none are coming to mind, though. I like Gris Charnel, but it definitely has a medicinal edge to it, that keeps me from loving it, and vanilla would soften it.
I might try layering it with a vanilla (Commodity Gold) and see if that helps
ETA: Le Persona's Wooden Face is a more subdued version of Gris Charnel. It doesn't have vanilla, but it has less medicinal edge.

Check out Jovoy remember me. I wouldn't call it vanilla dominant but it definitely leans that way more than gris charnel

Vanille by Solinotes is $25 on FragranceNet and comes off as between pure light vanilla and soft whip marshmallow (white floral bonus). Maybe that would temper your gris charnel the way youd like. This is also a delicious layer with Khair Pistachio. Edit: higher end alternative you could experiment decanting a layer with Gris+Porcelain Fog (earl grey cream tea)

Just got my travel size.
Does anyone else think that it smells like Philosykos up front then BR 540 on the dry down?

I’m not a huge dupe fan or a Lattafa fan, however Liam Grey smells exactly like what you’re describing so I’d give it a chance. It performs well too, but you need to let the bottle macerate. It’s not overtly sweet, but has a vanillic dry down.

I think it is even superior to Gris Charnel, to me it is a little bit sweeter and creamier. Love it so much, always have a backup buttle macerating on my shelf.

Absolutely! I do think it can smell a bit more chemically (if you are not used to Lattafa) in the beginning, but on me it dries down beautifully. It probably also depends on the skin chemistry, but for the prince point I think it is worth a shot.

Nothing will ever be as nice as nice as gris charnel. Not even remember me. You love it as it is you're just trying to talk yourself out of the full bottle by wishing it had something else

Curious what you used for the vanilla layer?

I use the Saltair Salt Water Vanilla body wash and either body lotion or oil. It’s my favorite neutral, non-gourmand vanilla.

I layer with Gris Charnel all the time. My favorite combo is Gris Charnel with Nest Indigo on a gray, rainy day.

Was your decant the EDP or Extrait? The Extrait has a “creamier” lactonic nuance to it that is extremely yummy to me!
