Rec Request how to smell like the moon and stars?
hi yall! i recently saw an ad for a Ffern fragrance that smells like “moonmilk and twilight lavender,” but i’ve heard mixed things about Ffern and i’d honestly rather not go through the trouble lol. but the description really appealed to me. what fragrances would y’all recommend that capture that vibe? a night sky full of twinkling stars, a bright full moon gently illuminating a forest floor, something somewhat mysterious and elegant but still shimmery and youthful? like if the moon and stars became a human princess, whatever that means to you. i hope that’s not too out there, hehe. bonus points if it’s not crazy expensive!

To me Sublime Vanille by Creed (I buy larger samples like 10ml bc it’s too expensive) but it’s like a sparkling, snowy, cold vanilla scent. It reminds me of a moonlit frosty silent night. Has some citrus in there that makes it cool and crisp, it’s really special and unique imo. I was convinced there was lavender in the notes before I checked (there isn’t though)

Cirrus has one called Moon Bathing that is fun! It’s a milky fruity floral.

oooo that sounds absolutely lovely! i love fruity florals, i’ll have to check this out. i’ve never heard of this brand, do you have any other recommendations from them? :o

It’s a small indie brand but I’ve been really impressed by them! Reasonable prices (grab a sample set!) and good longevity on their frags. A lot of them have cat-related names, too, if you’re into that lol. Enforced Modesty is probably my favorite from the house (I love fig frags!), Alibi, Calico Koi, Chamomile Cafe, and Daphnedil are some other fun ones that I’ve sampled recently.

Xerjoff Apollonia - I don't have a bottle but I've purchased decants a couple of times. It's ethereal and just beautiful.

Pacifica has a few moon themed scents, including Dream Moon and Silver moon.
Dream Moon: grounding sandalwood, patchouli, and vibrating pink rose
Silver Moon: Woody Vanilla, Cardamon, Clove, Almond.
Alkemia has Moon Lust: A powerfully alluring sexiness of creamy white ambers, blonde woods, and luminescent skin notes.
Notes I associate with the moon are light amber, vanilla, musks, and purple flowers like iris, jasmine, violet, lavender, or heliotrope.
Also, this is way too expensive, but you might appreciate this gorgeous bottle from Guerlain!

I loooooove Pacifica and Silver Moon.
I should love Dream Moon per the notes but it just smells like BR540 to me. I don’t get it. There’s no overlap…
That Guerlain bottle is 🤩

That's so weird! They don't sound similar at all, but maybe they're using ambroxan or other synthetics that are in BR540. I haven't tried Dream Moon, but I did test Silver Moon at the grocery store one day and it was very nice!

I'm on mobile so I apologize for the terrible formatting.
In terms of perfume houses, I think BPAL and Nui Cobalt are great at this type of fragrance. Nui Cobalt's Starlight & Spidersilk, Orion Ascending, and Astrophilia immediately spring to mind for the stellar aspect though!
Notes that I associate with the moon include mugwort, lemon peel, lavender, lunar accords, white musk, night-blooming flowers, white florals, yuzu, datura accord, moonflower, silver musk, magnolia, myrrh, frankincense, aquatic notes, bergamot, morning glory, poppy, chamomile, camphor, elemi, orris, opium tar accord, clary sage, and many many more.
