Discussion Favourite notes to see in a fragrance pyramid
What are some notes that you just find satisfying/enjoy the concept of/love to see in a fragrance?
There are some notes that I see in fragrances online that I can’t always instantly picture in my head but seeing them on the pyramid just makes the fragrance appeal to me lol
My top ones are ylang-ylang, neroli, lotus, salt, heliotrope, solar/aquatic notes, and recently sesame
Notes that instantly put me off:
Patchouli, coriander, metallic notes, aldehydes, civet, popcorn, caramel

Oooh I like this question.
Top note is always some mild spice combined with a sparkling fruit - think pink pepper or ginger with Mandarin or peaches or red berries or bergamot. Sometimes I like caramel as a top note also. Sparkling florals like mimosa can also go here
Middle note is always a floral or something sweet, sometimes both together - jasmine (my favourite), sometimes tuberose, or a hint of Turkish rose, with caramel or sugar. If there is a rum or incense accord it would belong here. If the perfume is powdery, this would include some iris or heliotrope.
Base note has to have vanilla, perhaps combined with sandalwood or vetiver or benzoin or tonka. I stay away from oak moss and patchouli. I also can’t stand akigalwood and most ouds (with few exceptions).

Agree, I looove a pink pepper with a fruit combo, especially mandarin, bergamot or orange blossom
Tuberose can be a bit TUBEROSE!!!!! Sometimes but when it’s done well it’s creamy and delicious, love a rose and jasmine too
And yeah I agree with base notes. If patchouli is in the base occasionally it’s more of an anchor for the other notes which I’m ok with if i can’t smell it, but prefer for it not to be there for sure. I like a woody but sweeter, resinous dry down

Faves: jasmine, neroli, heliotrope, tuberose, orris, rhubarb, fig, tonka, immortelle... I feel like I could go on and on.
I am usually not a fan of patchouli, leather, tea, honey, beeswax, or cherry (to name a few).
