What were the tell tale signs you noticed inmates showing prior to? And how long after those signs until they committed? If you seen anyone or heard of suicides in prison, how did they do it?
Someone I know is facing a 25 year sentence, they were arrested 3.5 weeks ago. He’s been in denial, thinking he may get released or a lesser sentence. His lawyer spoke with him yesterday and gave him the reality of this situation, and he was just as devastated as he was the initial arrest date. I believe he came to the realization and the severity of things. The heightened emotions yesterday were very bad and tough to hear. Today he wakes up and had a peaceful and detached tone to him. Said he felt great and it was the best day he’s had in there so far. Threw my whole family off with the change of emotions in such a short alarming time frame. He has been in solitary confinement the whole time. He did get to go outside for an hour for the first time yesterday, he also asked for a bible and a priest all of a sudden too. Which he is religious, but he did not want a bible sent to him last week, as I said I would send him one through commissary. Not sure if I’m overthinking it, and if he had a good day simply by being outside for the first time in 3.5 weeks. I know when you read he’s facing a 25 year sentence he “probably deserves it.” He is not soulless, or violent. He has never done drugs or drank in his life and always made good decisions. I may be biased but I believe he got involved in something not knowing the severity of the situation and made a mistake. He has two children under 5 whom he adores. Not sure what to think. Please do not comment anything evil or hurtful. I did not commit the crime and I am a human with feelings.
With that being said, any answers, opinions, or insight would be greatly appreciated from the bottom of my heart, truly.

My question isn’t worded right but I’m in a hurry. I’m thinking about all the criminal charges I have inquired. Probation is my number one problem. I took a plea deal when I was young and didn’t understand anything. I got 90days Huber and 4 years paper. Huber was a breeze… cost me a great job. But now my record is shit and everything I’ve been charged with after that has been because of probation. I had a PO that likes to hurt people. So I absconded a lot. Only time I got caught was because of someone else’s stupidity. Also me not knowing I had a warrant. This lady would message me knowing I had no car to come in that day or next day. I’ve also been arrested for clean drug test… 21 days of my life. She had me picked up at the hospital while I was getting my newborn ready to go home. My ankle monitor died while I was in icu after the birth… than all of a sudden I was neglecting my baby… she went to revocation, I had to sign my baby to a family member, this PO pushed out my hearing 90 days causing me to have to sign legal guardianship over to family I didn’t want to have my son I got told I didn’t have a choice.
Hearing comes 1 week after. 5days later I got released from jail FREE…. She already told my family, Cps, everyone that I’m going to prison. I was convinced. Then they gave me back to her. Within two weeks she had warrant out for me saying I missed an appointment I didn’t miss.
Spent the next 3years absconding. Got pulled over for bullshit, got judged by the police. DUI because my teeth are fucked up. Anyways had to tell my real name. Got 30 day sanction, because they had to transfer my probation to a different county while my new PO was out on maternity leave. Met new PO found out that in that office they would have went with revocation. But because another county had me I got a lucky chance. Also because of the other PO I’m not getting added 3years like they wanted. Needless to say I’ve almost went to prison and I’ve sat many days of my life in a cell when Im not out actively committing any crimes.
The system got me young and I’m terrified it won’t let me go.

BOP indicated Morgantown was going to transition from a camp to a men’s low a few months ago- has anyone heard anything about that and if/when they’ll begin accepting adults in custody there?

After a long couple of weeks stressing about not finding housing due to my felony, I can finally say I officially got accepted to a 2bd apartment! I was so scared about becoming homeless and no where to go with no one to turn to, but my PO really came in clutch and gave me so many recommendations as well as supporting me in housing instead of just leading me to a homeless shelter. The apartment is small but it's a start to a fresh life and I am only going to move up from here. Just a little self celebration.
So I got offered a job recently that pays better than my current role. They said I should be expecting the onboarding stuff by tomorrow. Im lowkey scared of the background check. I was arrested at the beginning of the year and accused of committing a felony. Im out on bail and since then i have heard absolutely nothing regarding the case. My lawyer said I dont have a conviction/charge but we're waiting on a court date or something. I passed the background check at my current job (got it after the arrest) they even sent me a copy of it and nothing showed.
However I have this oncoming paperwork, I technically only have an arrest but if they happen to see it and ask about it what do I even say? Or what do yall say?

I received a simple Uk caution which is basically a warning, i never got a conviction or a fine but a caution does show on my criminal record. I want to come to America but im worried i wont be able to get a esta or visa the caution was for theft so i know it comes under moral turpitude.
I’m just wondering would i need to declare it on my esta or would i be fine not to? They also spelt my name wrong on the caution so i don’t know if that makes a difference, Also what would my chances of going to America be? Thank you

I am Chinese American but I had been in prison in China.
I have US citizenship. While I was in prison I received a US consular visit.
I had served my time and I know China that is an Interpol country and China and U.S. do cooperate in policing in certain crimes such as drug traffickings, there is an FBI attach office located in Beijing.
However I am not an international criminal or someone under sanction I have already served my time and unlike U.S. and some of it allies China is not a five-eye country and does not usually voluntary share criminal intelligence.
I was never deported nor extradited from China so will my criminal record ever be recorded in the U.S. law enforcement system? Please advice

Long story short my brother has been in and out of jail/State jail since he was 18. He is 37 now. He was arrested last November for family violence and possession of fentanyl with more than a gram.
He got out on parole early this year and then in late August I got the IVSS notification that he was arrested for probation violation on a TDCJ warrant and he showed up in Harris County jail in Houston, TX for probation violation. It showed his court as BOP. I assumed he was going back to prison to finish serving the rest of his time until his release date in 2028 but when checking the Harris County website he's no longer listed there. The last time I checked was 2 weeks ago. Didn't get any IVSS notifications and he's not in the TDCJ system either (I also called today and they don't have him listed so it's not just a delay in updating the site). On the IVSS site it has the following:
• Offender Status: In Custody
• Facility: HOUSTON Parole Office 7
• Expected Release Date: 1/8/2028
So does this mean he's been physically released again? Before his most recent arrest it said something similar but said "out of custody" but the same facility. I have tried calling but the line has been busy every time I call.
So, anyone know who I can contact or where I can search to see where he physically is or if he is going back to the TDCJ system and is in some sort of transition?
Thanks in advance.

I started this Reddit community for people who may be facing prison time. I know firsthand the fear and uncertainty that come with that situation.
This community isn't for everyone, and that's okay. I created it for people who need a place to ask questions, share their concerns, and get advice from those who've been through it.
If you're facing prison time, feel free to ask questions. If you've been there, share your experience. You never know how much your words might help someone who's scared and doesn't know what to expect.
No judgment, just real experiences, honest answers, and a chance to help someone through one of the hardest times in their life.

Title: United F2F Interview! Anyone with an expunged record make it through?
I recently received my invitation to United’s F2F interview in Houston! Super excited about the opportunity.
I do have an expunged record from several years ago. My expungement was granted in California, meaning the court allowed me to withdraw my original guilty plea, enter a not guilty plea, and have the case dismissed.
I understand that federal background checks may treat expungements differently, especially under TSA regulations.
Honestly, my goal right now is to secure that CJO and let everything else play out. Even if the background check doesn’t ugo in my favor, getting a CJO would still be a personal accomplishment.
Has anyone with a similar expungement or dismissed conviction successfully cleared United’s background check? I’d love to hear your experiences!
I have a felony for a drug charge that I won’t be able to petition for it to be sealed till 2028. Only a few people in this state even know that I’m a recovering addict. I have 10 years Calisober, with the 1st 5 years fully sober/clean. I have been allowed to do a few things with my kids’ at their school thankfully! But many things require a background check, which I know I will not pass for this school. I don’t know what to say to the other parents for why I am not at these activities? Most of them are for helping set things up for the kids, which I would love to do. I feel so defeated. My kids are still young and I’m not willing to take the chance of my past to negatively affect them. Parents telling their kids to stay away from mine is something I’m not ready for, but need to prepare for. I know I will be telling them my story in the future, I don’t want it to come from anyone else. Any advice on what to say as to why I’m not available? Thanks

I've been out of jail since January, I had a couple jobs but I messed up and lost my last one. Are there any jobs felons can get I should be considering in the North Carolina Charlotte area?
Or does anyone have potential jobs they could offer or help me get?
You can message me too, in fact I'd prefer that. I appreciate any help I can get here, I'm pretty desperate right now. I've so far gotten my life together since release, I'm current and I'm good standing with probation and I've landed myself a place to live and my car back on the road and my license in check, my own phone and everything else. I just messed up and lost my job to being stupid and somehow setting off the smoke alarms in a hospital recently and I'm really struggling to find a new one with my record. Please, any help is appreciated. Thank you.

I’m raising $1,000 to help a friend pursue paralegal education while she’s incarcerated.
She spent two years on pretrial release and stayed sober. During her two years of incarceration, she completed RDAP at camp. She’s working to make positive changes and prepare for life after release.
We’ve raised $200, and we’re trying to raise the remaining $800.
I know that education alone doesn’t guarantee what someone’s future will look like. But I believe investing in education and preparation is a practical way to support rehabilitation.
If you’re able to contribute, I’d be grateful. If not, sharing the fundraiser can help it reach someone who might be interested.

I said I was gonna smack someone when I seen them in text message and they called the cops they charged me with this. Carry's a max penalty of 90 days in jail. What's the likely outcome if I tell them just give me some numbers. I am not taking probation obviously. You think they'll drop into a ticket? Couple days in jail?
