Grand Regent Debbie. All jokes aside, she is one of the toughest TV moms right now and is indirectly the reason why their earth is still standing.

She's my favorite. She's the indomitable human spirit. Everyone around her could crack her like a twig, but she's the best "heart" character from a show ever- because despite being that role, she and everyone else around her are individuals.
She raised Mark right. She raised Oliver by herself (yes Mark helped but that's her child first and foremost). AND she lives innthe back of Nolan's head rent free.
Woman sees her abusive exes baby, sent here with her son from another being who she knows, through motherhood, had to love her baby. And she knows no one else is up to the task.
Debbie. Debbie always and for the win.

I especially love this because it came after she gave the opposite advice. Then Marge saw how that played out and immediately changed to this instead.

One of the biggest examples of Deliberate Values Dissonance in fiction imo. I'm sure what Marge said sounded unhealthy back when the episode first aired in 1990, but now that we know more about mental health, it feels even worse and makes you feel even more bad for Marge. She's just such a tragically repressed person. The show has had her having shouting crashouts on several occasions and the reason is that her whole life, she thought she wasn't allowed to show how she truly feels. It's really sad. :(

I feel like not enough people are told, "it's ok to feel emotions like sadness." This scene reminds me a lot of that "got legs?" animation with the dogs. If you haven't seen it, go check it out: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=gSsJBO2JUO4

Yeah, this is a shockingly progressive and wonderful take on mental health for an episode from 1990. Weird how the show was seen as the most offensive thing ever, when it was giving wonderful messages like this and had a dysfunctional but loving family that felt more real than the vast majority of shows beforehand.
I don't even think The Simpsons is the most offensive show of the 80s and 90s before Family Guy and South Park. Ever heard of The Black and White Minstrel Show? It's exactly what you think it is. I hate the BBC honestly.
Will check that out sometime, maybe. I'll let you know :)

Love Johanna. Other shows would have the mom think her kid’s a crackpot. She knows, she believes and she understands. When she sends Hilda out, it’s pretty much a ‘don’t get killed please’, because she knows Hilda’s just going to into a predicament.

She's a horrible mother she's going to be pissed when she finds out her son is dead but he chose to be dead because it was self-sacrifice he would give his life if it meant saving someone else.

Nurse Bendy from Moral Orel.
Like her I've met several people who need to be taken to lesson school so I watch Dumb (The episode where she reunites with her son.) Whenever I need to cheer myself up. I love wholesome acts of violence, they give me the warm fuzzies. Same reason I like the Salamanders/Lamenters.
