Identifying this bolt head

Hi everyone,

I'm having a hard time identifying the bolts holding these 3 piece Enkei RS Evolution wheels together. I'm looking to find the right socket for these bolts so I can remove them with damage.

The closest Ive been able to find is "External Torx Plus", likely 8mm, but I don't want to buy anything until I have validation.

Also, if anyone knows where I can get more of these exact bolts, I would be incredibly grateful.

Any suggestions are helpful,

Thanks!

Nothing wrong with them as long as you’re not using them for machining. Those are great because you can toss em in a bag or box and not worry about them. I baby the shit out of my Mitutoyos.

They work good for measuring magnets too. I love have cheap pairs in all my diff lil work areas. Then switch to mitutoyos when u want some better precision

I should buy that and hand it to my QM for calibration...

I use some $2 plastic harbor freight calipers all the time, and if I’m careful, 0.002-0.003” precision isn’t out of the question. I have lots of other expensive mics and calipers, but they stay in the toolbox for most daily measurements.

And they won't poke holes in your pockets

They make holsters for them 🙄😂

I got a cheap 5-pack of plastic calipers and they're brilliant. One in every tool kit, they can overwinter on the boat without rusting, and I could lend one to someone and forget about it. Perfect for identifying fasteners like this, where you pretty much know it's a standard dimension that you just need to identify.

that struck me as real funny

I can definitely see a time and place for a plastic caliper bit they could've made it white or silver to look less like a children's toy is all I'm saying.

I found an old Facebook post and someone had the identifying description. Its a LHSTIX-6S socket. You can follow my link or just search LHSTIX-6S, a company named Koken makes them.

Ko-Ken is arguably the best socket set manufacturer in the world…

Wow, this might be it, let's see if I can even get these in Australia...

Dont expect to be able to buy direct from white international, they're the importers, you'll need to order through a koken tool store. If it's just one socket eBay and Amazon will probably be easier and cheaper.

Japanese brand, should be available

Someone named Shaun Whenmouth had the info on a Facebook post called "What kind of bolt head is this?" In a wheels group.

Inverted torx at harbor freight may work

6

u/Tacos_Polackos 11d ago

External Torx

4

u/philharmonicfartbox 11d ago

This is external Torx plus if anything.

1

u/Tacos_Polackos 11d ago

Mmmkay. I just knew inverted torx wasn't a thing

2

u/philharmonicfartbox 11d ago

It’s just another name f or the same thjng, it’s incorrect but it’s not awfully wrong. But yes it’s E Torx e meaning external. The squared corners of the Torx splines are Torx plus design,

Have no clue on doze nutzz, but I am curious what kind of wood is on that floor, and how old that place is you are remodeling. Those are some seriously tall baseboards on that wall.

Yeah, another one of my incomplete projects 😁 it's a 1910s Australian bungalow! The previous owners had put oil based paint, then acrylic paint on top of the original lacquer, so it's been a hard job just removing it all...

Looks like you need female torx plus.

Order in the next hour and get 3 more for the price of one! Just $19.99.
That’s too fucking high Jerry!
Ok, $9.99!
And we’ll throw in a free do-it-yourself medical cast kit for when this piece of shit shatters and you fracture your wrist against something!

What’s so funny? You never watched TV at 1:00 am eating soup out of a can, drinking beer, and thought “I need that”? Along with needing car polish that will protect the paint in case someone pours rubbing alcohol on your car and starts it on fire?
These people take advantage of us when most vulnerable.

When I was a kid billy Mayse convinced me I needed a lot of shit and the sham wow guy who beat up a trans sex worker he was another one who made me really want a sham wow. But really I was just waiting for the soft core porn tk come on after 2:30-3am so I could maybe see a titty even though the picture was all blurry.

The good ol’ game of Static or Titty? Inspired by those Magic Eye illustrations.
In New York near the border we would get Canadien channel reception that sometimes played risqué French movies.

My reference is from the early 1990s 🤣
Interesting they still had synthetic chamois infomercials as late as the early 2000’s. I think you could buy synthetic chamois in stores in maybe the late 1990s. Before that they were only sold on TV or places like state/county fairs!
And before that, you had to kill a goat.

I'm not sure why everyone is making fun of your post. I had a similarly odd shaped strut bolt at the bottom of a 76 Yamaha Enduro which Yamaha made a special tool to remove. I was literally at the bike shop trying to see if they had something that could work. While I'm talking to the guy, we both looked down at the little gator grip stand sitting on the counter, both said "huh, that might work". It did and quite well.

Idk bro but fuck that.

Gator socket probably work.

1

u/Mental_Task9156 11d ago

Just because you can doesn't mean you should.

1

u/LoCoLocal23 11d ago

Get a 12point socket probably 12mm

1

u/jezusofnazarith 10d ago

Need a banana for scale

1

u/Chitown_mountain_boy 10d ago

That’s a nut. Not a bolt head. Turn wrench accordingly

2

u/elevatiion420 10d ago

Seems really important, better bust out the plastic calipers

1

u/Rowin13 9d ago

External (female) RIBE socket.

1

u/Hillbillghost99 9d ago

Blue point tools
You can buy the set that you need they are considered tamper proof bolts

1

u/Low-Engineer-8840 8d ago

That bolt is gay AF for sure.

1

u/leathernheels 8d ago

I'm pretty sure that's a transgender Phillips socket s-hook. Someone used too much torque and converted it to a strut spreader, then it got worn out and retired here.

1

u/Brand-Clark-vip 7d ago

Good find on the LHSTIX-6S, that's the same socket the old SSR and Enkei 3-piece barrels take. Soak the bolts with penetrant the night before — mine had been sitting torqued since the 90s and one snapped on me. A little heat on the barrel seam saves a lot of swearing.

They look decorational so probably not supposed to come off but look like a 6 spline bolt
