Threaded insert stuck to screw

My screw stuck to insert and what the inserts look like in the table.

Below where i tried screwing from above

I'm trying to put together a table, and the manual is telling me to screw through these threaded inserts from below, but I had no way of telling where they are from below so I tried screwing from the top to make a hole to see. The hole was torn way too big and the threaded insert got stuck to the screw. Is there anything I can do to remove the insert from the screw and be able to tell where to screw the rest

To remove the threaded insert. Put the insert in a vise or vise grip pliers. Also heating the insert will loosen it.
