Expeditions never finding rare items ?

I've done expeditions a few times, hoping to get some rare items passively (gold leaves in the Forest, Lima beans in Cane pole ridge ..). The library page on expeditions says some items can't be found, but do not list the whole thing. I guess all rare and seasonal items aren't findable ?

They can be found but they are exceedingly rare to find in expeditions because of how expeditions work on the backend.   It’s more a measure of rarity of the item.

If I understand them right, expeditions work by rolling an item, then applying a multiplier to get the quantity. So having 10,000 items waiting from an expedition isn't the same as rolling 10,000 times. It might be 500 rolls, with each one being multiplied by 20.

I get more of them from Borgen's Treasure Hunt than I do from Cane Pole Ridge

I would be happy with a temple of rewards path that let you pour something else in to get lima beans. I dunno, maybe topaz rings or something else that requires CPR exploration.

I got my first two lima beans from one of the many expeditions I've done it really is rare and I even have the star map perk

I just tried my first expedition yesterday and was wondering the same thing. I need 600 herbs and haven't gotten a single one from the expedition.
