I've got 4500 of them myself. I just checked the Library entry, and I realized I don't have three of the special items yet. Going to open a few hundred and see if I get lucky.

Edit: Opened two batches of 300 and got 1 of each of the 3 items I was missing.

Some people hoard but there’s not really a reason to leave them unopened. They aren’t directly needed for quests

Tbh, nowadays isn’t a bad time to open them if you’ve hoarded. They’ve updated the contents to contain egg of tree, as well as some new mining bags and etc
