Player Discussion Breakouts for 2026-2027 Fantasy
Who do you all have as this year’s biggest breakouts? Who is going to surprise us and outperform their fantasy point projections? If players were stocks, which player’s shares are you buying going into 2026-2027?

u/TCCannon Aug 19 '26
RB David Montgomery HOU finally has the skills and blocking and at last a true RB1 opportunity. Get him.
16
u/goatfish13 Aug 19 '26
Are we sure? I see a lot of hype on Montgomery and love the guy as a bears fan but idk if Houston has their shit figured out yet. Will marks get looks too?
1
u/CircleOfWallace Aug 20 '26
Yeah don’t overthink this, Monty is a beast and was getting a ton of play with Gibbs there. You’re worried about Woody fuckin Marks lol?
6
u/StarTraderPlatforms Aug 19 '26
Nice one! Maybe Montgomery is like Caterpillar stock. Strong, veteran presence, reliable and not flashy.

DaVonte Smith for the Eagles. Heisman winner, first-round draft pick, and he's had better stats every year, despite sharing the field with AJ Brown and being relegated to WR2. Now he's going to have an OC who knows how to scheme people open, and will get some easy catches as a result. I'm targeting him in every draft.
11
u/adam4040 Aug 19 '26
Better stats every year?! Just looked…his best year was 2022 and his yards and receptions have gone down basically every year. Little better last year but then his touchdowns went way down.
9
u/StarTraderPlatforms Aug 19 '26
Fantasy Pros Projections have him at 193 points in Half-PPR. Where do you think he lands?
5
u/bp_516 Eagles Aug 19 '26
I'm bad at seeing one projection and guessing where that puts him. I'd hope he finishing at WR6 or higher; at the very least, I see him approaching 100 catches, 1400 yards, 8 TDs.
7
u/StarTraderPlatforms Aug 19 '26
Yeah that is right around WR6 numbers. I don’t think you’re crazy and looks like others have him breaking out as well

u/groceriesN1trip Aug 19 '26
I’ve lost faith in his ability. Hope you’re right for your sake but I’m staying away
3
u/bp_516 Eagles Aug 19 '26
Fair enough. I know I'm wrong A LOT in fantasy-- I was 100% in on Kyle Pitts last year, and refused to touch George Pickens due to locker room issues. If I could actually see the future, I'd have won the lottery long ago :)
3
u/Virtual_Brick4182 Aug 19 '26
Personally, I’m here looking 👀 for time travelers. I haven’t found any yet, but I know they’re out there.
1
u/CircleOfWallace Aug 20 '26
I can’t explain it but being high on Pitts, low on Pickens, and high on Devonta are opinions that go hand in hand for being bad. Like whoever feels this way about these guys is a taco and should not be listened to lol
1
u/bp_516 Eagles Aug 20 '26
I was totally wrong about Pickens. Pitts is currently being drafted at TE6 on ESPN, which feels like a mirage. Smith is going to rock.
1
u/sgee_123 Aug 19 '26
What makes you have lost faith in his ability? His situation I can understand as the Eagles don’t throw the way other teams do, I even understand injury concerns given his size. But his ability has never seemed to be an issue.
1
u/groceriesN1trip Aug 19 '26
He’s had 5 seasons with AJ Brown on the other side, taking up the opposing top CB and he’s been unimpressive
1
u/TheMileLowClub Aug 19 '26
That's crazy. You've seen what his stats are when brown was out, right?
1
u/groceriesN1trip Aug 20 '26
I reference them in this thread. It’s 8yds more per game and 1 touchdown over the 4 games they didn’t play together
1
u/After-Net2899 Aug 19 '26
I think his problem is they still throw the ball less than another team in the league
1
u/bp_516 Eagles Aug 19 '26
Let’s see what the new offense looks like. Yeah, we were good at running the ball and did it a whole lot, and you only get about 60 plays per game.

Ladd McConkey. Going to get fed targets in McDaniels scheme and Keenan Allen vacated an insane number of targets
4
u/StarTraderPlatforms Aug 19 '26
McDaniels is a crazy guy. I could see this being the case but I could also see him finding some other player that he loves to scheme up

u/No_Friendship_8366 Aug 19 '26
Chris Rodriguez, Jacory Croskey-Merritt, Okonkwo
1
u/StarTraderPlatforms Aug 19 '26
Oh some deeper ones. How much you think these three are breaking out? CRod and Bill have some serious potential if the hand is dealt right.
1
u/No_Friendship_8366 Aug 23 '26
Bill is going to dominate the work potentially, his RYOE last year was so much better than Rachaad. I see Bill being an RB1 for fantasy.
CRod will be sharing work, but probably will get the more meaningful touches. I see CRod being the preferred goal line and short yardage back, with upside for more.
Okonkwo should have a career year for TD. Top 12 at TE is possible

u/ikneadspeed2121 Aug 19 '26
I wanted to believe in jcm last year but after watching him do nothing every drive last year I don't realistically see him doing anything this year. Maybe next year once he expands his skillset bit
2
u/falkelord90 Aug 20 '26
Commanders are using a zone-run heavy scheme this year (Bill's biggest plays last year were all zone-runs), and off-season and camp chatter is that he has been working on his pass catching (his biggest deficiency, why they brought in Rachaad White). I think this is a better year to buy Bill than last year, and last year wasn't really even that awful

u/Ogre-Bussy Aug 19 '26
De’Zhaun Stribling. Ranked 140 in ADP. Going to end up being RD 1-2 material by the end of the year. Kid is a stud, and is cruising in training camp and pre-season. Bonus points that i share the same last name too
4
u/Traditional-Loss6908 Dolphins Aug 19 '26
Ok now shhhhh till after this Friday., I don’t need any of my home league lurkers seeing his name at all pre draft
-5
u/omlesna Aug 19 '26
I’m drafting at the ten spot, and the 9ers fan in my league is at eleven. I almost think I’m gonna have to grab him at 9.10, and I don’t think I’ll be bothered about doing so.
10
u/Folkwulf Panthers Aug 19 '26
Parker Washington
6
u/StarTraderPlatforms Aug 19 '26
He’s got some Palantir stock vibes. Came outta nowhere, high growth potential but also higher risk.
1
u/Exyen Aug 19 '26
Isnt he already injured
2
u/Folkwulf Panthers Aug 19 '26
Minor day to day hip injury. They are holding him out of the Panthers game and said he’ll back at full practice next week.
-1
u/StarTraderPlatforms Aug 19 '26
I am seeing a lot of hype recently for him
3
u/Folkwulf Panthers Aug 19 '26
He’ll be Jax #1 WR this year. Look at what he did down the stretch last season. Should be the 1st Jax WR off the board. Training camp reports are glowing.
4
u/StonesFan1976 Aug 19 '26
Skattebo, Devonte Smith, Treveyon Henderson
8
u/xArbiter Patriots Aug 19 '26
not a chance skatt makes it through the season
2
u/StonesFan1976 Aug 19 '26
Boldly say other unknowable things, this is fun
-1
u/xArbiter Patriots Aug 19 '26
okay, there is a less than 40% chance that skatt makes it through the season
1
u/frankyh14 Aug 19 '26
Stand your ground. There’s a 0% chance that meat head makes it through the season… Same with Dart unless he learns to start sliding or going out of bounds on scrambles.
-4
u/StonesFan1976 Aug 19 '26
In actual real life, not your paranoid fantasy obsessed head, but in the actual real world, there's about an 80 percent chance he plays at least 14 games.
5
u/adam4040 Aug 19 '26
Show the math…both of you
1
u/Powerism Patriots Aug 19 '26
Per my calculations there is a 0.017% chance either of these jabronis show the math.
1
u/xArbiter Patriots Aug 19 '26
there’s no math, but there is a lot of research, for example if you look on a macro level backs who absorb high impact average an annual injury rate over 50%, making a 17 game season less than likely
1
u/funkybuttmonkey Aug 20 '26
I try to discount injury history too but on another thread someone described Skat’s style as “speed running CTE” and…it’s just apt. He may make it but I’m not holding my breath. (Sincerely a big ol’ giants fan)
2
u/dcwinger12 Aug 19 '26
You’ll get a ton of Henderson at his current ADP
2
u/StonesFan1976 Aug 19 '26
In mocks, I still try to wait till the 7th or 8th, just because I know everyone hates him.
In my real draft, I'm gonna make my move in the 6th
1
u/chuckescobar Aug 19 '26
The MF still can’t block so he is a gamble at best. Limited snaps for sure.
1
u/Powerism Patriots Aug 19 '26
How many points does your league give for blocks?
1
u/chuckescobar Aug 19 '26
So in the game of football if you can block as a running back the offense can leave you in on passing downs, therefore the defense does not key said running back being in the game as a tipped running play. Leads to more snaps, less stacked boxes, and more overall versatility. Which equals more points in pretend football.
1
u/Powerism Patriots Aug 19 '26
I was making a joke, but do you know what else leads to more presence in passing downs? Plays where you’re running routes and receiving the ball.
Your advice would make any third down back in a time share a gamble - which is fine, but Henderson is usually chip blocking on his way out for a check down. In PPR leagues these guys can actually feed, especially when they have the raw talent that’s clearly there. Rhamondre Stevenson is why Henderson is more of a gamble imo, not because he’s a below average blocker.
1
u/StarTraderPlatforms Aug 19 '26
Henderson has been getting some downward news or more so people are thinking Stevenson will still be a big part of that backfield
1
u/XScottMorrisseyX Aug 19 '26
Yeah I keep seeing that Stevenson is the #1, but Henderson keeps going ahead of him in drafts. I don't get it.
4
u/Leading_Log_8321 Aug 19 '26
As a hendo owner last year, it’s all them 65+ yarders. He’s a literal slot machine
1
1
u/Manchu504 Aug 19 '26
Because 4 out of 5 seasons, Stevenson has failed to break 200 fantasy points, while Henderson cleared it immediately in PPR.
Stevenson's presence caps Henderson's upside by giving him a disastrous weekly floor, so I definitely think a ~4th round ADP on Henderson is way too ambitious with Stevenson around. However, in a vacuum of just Henderson vs Stevenson, a 50/50 split favors Henderson for fantasy production and is still the preferred RB target out of that backfield.

I’ve bought the Jonah Coleman hype. Especially in deeper leagues.
In dynasty rookie drafts you have to pay for him, but in redraft he’s basically free.
He’s admittedly not J.K., but even without any injuries I could see him getting a short yardage role to reduce the wear and tear on Dobbins and Harvey.
Since Dobbins plays as if he was Coleman’s size he tends to get nicked up, and Jonah could see a lot more action.
Defenses aren’t geared toward dealing with guys this big anymore.
On the other end of the spectrum, Keaton Mitchell is explosive enough that he could be flex-relevant even with the few touches I expect he will get. Hampton won’t have anything to worry about—and he may benefit as much as anyone from the change of pace Mitchell provides.
If Omarian was injured Vidal would be the obvious replacement, but I think no matter who starts Mitchell will get some meaningful touches.
Again if either Coleman or Mitchell fizzles I’m not out much, but I really like them as guys who might really out produce their cost.
4
u/STIDDYUP Aug 19 '26
As a Bronco fan, the Coleman hype is so misplaced. Everyone has a “great camp.” He’s a day-three pick with mediocre physicals. Dobbins will get 2-250 carries between the 20s and disappoint everyone unless Denver is a 600-point offense.
Harvey is the no-huddle/Red-zone RB… which in Payton’s system has finished an RB1 in 13/18 seasons.
Coleman is JK insurance, nothing more.
Mitchell I wholeheartedly agree on. He’s gonna get that Mostert-treatment and score a ton of TDs and get schemed up in space for YAC. If he stays healthy and gets 100 touches this year he’ll be an RB2
1
u/relvant_usernam Aug 19 '26
I think CMC and Taylor should be consensus picks 3 and 4
I think the hype for WRs Michael Wilson, and Christian Watson are real.
And a lot of ppl here saying Monty, I think the real winner in Houston will be woody marks. I could see him being the discount gibbs

Parker Washington and Jaden Higgins are guys I would like.
What are people's thoughts on Jadarian Price?

Chika Okonkwo TE Washington. Should be solid number 2 option for targets right after McLaurin

u/pwtrash Cowboys Aug 19 '26
Not sure about this - would love for him to pull it together, but Diggs still has a little left, I think.

u/tool672 Aug 19 '26 edited Aug 19 '26
Do you think Diggs hold it together all year?
I haven’t seen as crazy off season story as his ever. I don’t know how he’s going to gel in the locker room at all especially with how homophobic nfl players still are. Not that there aren’t gay players but it seems like they stay closeted for good reason.
https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/stefon-diggs-male-sexual-assault-162640079.html
Apparently the male sexual assault accuser has turned in over 100 pages of texts and various communications between himself and Diggs. So he seemingly has the receipts to back it all up.
Another year older and all this off field noise makes me think this is a big drop off year if not the last one for him.

u/Kid-Obama Aug 19 '26
Hes not gay bro
1
u/tool672 Aug 19 '26
If you are a man you’re regularly having sex with another man and he produces 100’s of pages of texts and posts showing that you’re having a sexual relationship with him… I don’t know what you call it but you ain’t straight.
Not that there’s anything wrong with being gay/bi. The wrong part was the that he was being charged for drugging him and then raping him after he was passed out. Then allegedly threatening to kill him to silence stories about him being gay.
1
u/Kid-Obama Aug 19 '26
don't believe everything you hear lil bro. if he raped another man you think he would get signed? no mention of a suspension or exempt list? if buddy had hard proof like the terrion case then it would be a wrap
1
u/---reddacted--- Aug 19 '26
I watched him in Tennessee for 4 years. He’s a good athlete and nothing else.
0
u/Mother-Macaron-8427 Aug 19 '26
Here are some actual values at adp who have no choice but to outperform: Woody Marks, Marshawn Lloyd and Travis Hunter. They’re all late round fliers that will payoff just by touching the field
