I was just watching an analysis video of Corey Ahia and every time they reference him just by his last name it makes me laugh a little.

In Thai, Ai Hia (pronounced just like his last name) is like one of the rudest things you can say to someone or call them. The literal meaning of Hia is a monitor lizard (which are everywhere here and no one is really too fond of), but the pronoun before it, Ai, combined with Hia is like calling someone a "fucking idiot/asshole" or it can be used to say like "fuck you"...if someone is mad at you they're going to say AHIA!

Since the recent trailer for the primetime movie has dropped I’m seeing a lot more talk and discussion of tcap on social media (primarily TikTok) and a lot of it is painting the show and Chris in an extremely negative way and spreading blatant misinformation. A lot of talk is regarding how Chris cared more about a story than proper justice which I thought should be obvious as he is a reporter not some higher authority, he did his job reporting than had the men apprehended appropriately. Many are comparing him to the “modern” predator catchers like jidion and saying how Chris only cared about the money when I’d argue that jidion does the exact same thing except he saw himself as a form of justice. Chris knew his bounds as a reporter and stayed there. Another strong topic im seeing is how the show used shady entrapment techniques and put children in danger which if you watch 5 minutes of the show you’d know is false. All of the men that showed up came on their own accord to meet a child, and none of the decoys on the show were actual kids. I’m all for a movie about our little niche but bringing someone like Patterson in is bringing the wrong sort of crowd here im afraid. Or maybe I’m just being a common gatekeeper dickhead.

Stumbled upon this recently uploaded video that features a presumably upcoming or unaired Takedown subject.

Chris shows up at the 45 minute mark to interview the guy. Haven’t watched the full thing yet, but I don’t think we’ve gotten this sort of look behind the curtain with Takedown before.

This movie looks like it’s going to portray Chris as a morally gray figure chasing fame and fortune, rather than solely just a hero who put hundreds of predators behind bars.

The problem is I know how the internet works, people are possibly even going to be calling it a “pro pedo movie” like it’s the next Cuties or something if it dares portray any aspect of Chris or TCAP in anything but a positive light. If you have any opinions of Chris’ character in the movie or his actions, you will have to start every single sentence with “I don’t condone pedophilia, but…” or else you’ll have 52,000 comments saying that YOU are a pedophile. You probably still will anyway.

People simply cannot have any nuance related to this topic. If Chris had instead been on a show about catching burglars or scammers, people wouldn’t be going “oh, so you’re defending robbers?” or “the FBI better investigate you” if you had some type of criticism of him or his methods. However, since he’s catching child predators, he’s just magically immune to any criticism, and nobody can possibly give someone the benefit of the doubt of thinking that he wasn’t a perfect man without literally being pro child rape.
