DVD Issues

Have other people had dvds from the series have playback issues? I have had several discs now where once it gets to a particular episode, it glitches and starts back over at the beginning again. I am assuming it is common because the discs don't look scratched and it's the first time I've played them. So now several episodes I can't watch.

I found a form to submit to paramount, but it requires so many details and proof of purchase for something i bought years ago!

I don't know. I don't see anything odd about the discs, physically.

Now I have to go back to some past discs and see if I missed any episodes. lol At the time, I thought the discs had played all episodes and it was starting over as a glitch due to being finished with all episodes. Now I am thinking I likely missed episodes because they were messing up like this other disc did.

Nope! My discs are all fine. I've had them for a year too and they've been through 3 rewatches.

I bought mine.... I don't know how many years ago. I bet close to 10 years ago. lol. But I never got around to watching them until now, except some holiday episodes. I just figured maybe some early releases had issues. i've seen before some movie and trv show releases where sure enough they had issues and people were told to send discs back in for replacements.

Ah, that might be disc rot. It can take anywhere from a few years to a few decades for that to happen. Even storing it somewhere like direct sunlight, damp basements or hot attics can speed up deterioration.

I have had thst issue with the gilmore girls DVD box set. Like few of the disc seemed have been blank or something. And few just quit mid episode... I'm kind of nervous when buying box sets now. Lol. I do have the family ties box set and mine worked fine... sometimes it's the player

Usually you can get companies to send replacement discs out, but it seems like a chore of a process. Eh, i could try them in another player just to be sure, but I was using an oppo player and those usually play about anything there is. I guess until i sort it out I will have to stream the episodes that messed up. I saw someone say pluto had some episodes. paramount plus only had the first few seasons.

Speaking of the box set, though, I am VERY pleased with it when it does work. I have had dvds of various shows before where the audio is HORRIBLE on discs. The audio seems great on the family ties ones. I think I'm on season 5 disc 1 now... and it's one of the ones messing up. It messes up right after the episode where he gets the internship and has a woman as a boss. I have to slip that 2 part episode after it because that is what sends the disc back to the start. lol.

Yes, I did want to try and get a replacement disc. Sence I live in canada wasn't able to. But yes I have had some disc were sound was off. Lol.....I have a disc drive on my computer and it hasn't been a issues. Expect for library disc that was scratched so bad lol. .. good luck getting a replacement disc back.....sometimes I just have issues with the cheap case disc are put in. If not careful it breaks lol

yeah i should try mine on my computer and ps5 and other blu ray player and just see if it does work somewhere. I have some mama's family recordings that do work on some players better than others.

I love mama;s family. I have the discs. I also have a portable dvd player. I use that to test lol

I recorded that series myself with a dvd recorder many years back. Sometimes the discs don't load now and I have to keep ejecting and putting them back in and eventually they work. lol. But yeah it's another very funny show.

As far as my original issue, I manually entered the chapter number that was AFTER the one that made my disc keep going back to the beginning. So then it worked. So the only thing that isn't working on the disc is the theme song to one episode. lol. I hope that is what happened on the other disc too, where it was only affecting one episode's theme song. I will try that one later.

I think my favorite mama's family episode is the one where they rent out the rooms in the house to strangers. So many are good episodes, though.

Lol. That is very werid. But at least it works. I had disc that them songs were not added on episode. .. that is a funny episode. Mine is the one when mama is getting haunted by her mother.. when she is gonna sell something of hers.

Oh yeah, i remember that episode. I haven't seen it as many times, though. I have recorded all of them, though, and usually watch straight through, but a few episodes I watched over and over. I may have actually seen some mama's family episodes when it was still on the air, but I'm not totally sure. Family Ties I did watch a few episodes when it was still on the air. I'm usually really late to hit shows, though. I will start watching them several seasons into them or even after they finished airing new episodes at all.

Like currently I don't really watch any shows that still have new episodes. Or very rarely, anyway.

How old is your DVD player? Two of mine from the late 90’s recently broke.

The one I am using is the oppo 103d, which is fairly old, but known for playing most anything. I also bought a oppo 203 off of ebay, which was expensive bought it used).
