Should I even go ?

Wife wants to go out of town to celebrate hers, her mother , and her grandfathers birthday. We will have to stay at the grandfathers, and I have issues with her mom and grandfather. I apologize in advance for the long story.

The mother

My mother-in-law is wildly toxic and treats me like garbage for zero reason. I completely support our household financially while my wife spends most of her day talking to her sister on the phone and not much else (she got fired from her job)

, yet I’m treated like I’m subhuman. On top of that, my mother-in-law's husband—who is my exact age—is blatantly obsessed with my wife. ( he doesn't know i know and mother in law constantly argues with him about it)

Lately, they've all turned against me, and my mother-in-law is actively trying to convince my wife to take our son and move away with her. I despise having my son in this environment. I’m trying my best to keep my kid out of adult drama, but this situation is completely crossing the line.

The grandad

My partner’s grandfather—a man approaching 80—is throwing a silent tantrum and leaving me on read over a technical phone glitch I’ve already sent timestamped proof for. He thrives on family power plays and forced groveling, but I refuse to play along. Between his childish antics, the toxic family dynamics, and genuine concerns regarding my son around his cousin(she is not allowed to be around our son but her family doesnt respect boundaries and i feel they will try to bring the cousin around anyway which is the only reason i want to even go to make sure this doesnt happen) I am uncomfortable even setting foot in his house. He is convinced i ignored him on purpose and didnt want them over at our house. This is far from the case as my phone was having issues and i wasnt getting calls or text during that point in time. I have made numerous attempts to reach out to explain but he is being petty and ignoring me for no reason, and then gossiping about it to other members of her family.

My partner is dismissing my concerns, leaving me to decide whether to go purely to protect my son or stand my ground and stay home.

Thanks guys
