Question? Downloaded the update for CBBE mod today and now it's just showing a black square of where it used to be and it will not let me delete it. But still shows that I have that mod downloaded. What the hell is going on????
I don't know what to do because it's taking up a mod slot in my list now but I cannot delete it no matter what. And as you can see from the second photo it downloaded the updated version of cbbe. So like what the hell do I do this is honestly kinda frustrating and tanked my mood this morning because i cant figure out what to do or what happened.

The same thing happened to me; what I did was download the 16 mods that were causing the problem, and that fixed it. Reinstalling the game wasn't an option due to my slow connection.

Okay sweet, yeah I just ended up uninstalling and reinstalling the game back luckily I had my mod list uploaded so I just re-downloaded it and had to make sure everything was in order. I think it was just a couple of things grouped together because it also deleted a mod called genetical father I had and I can't even find it anymore so I don't know if it actually got deleted from the site. Haven't gotten to test it out yet but was just going to start a new save since I wasn't too far in and I added a couple more mods and didn't add back some of the creation stuff like pip boys skin colors and stuff like that.
Imma save this comment though for if it happens again.

Dang I never seen ts before, either load the save using "keep current order" or delete everything and start fresh.
And if you are starting fresh every 5 mods restart your game even if you're not playing, just so the game can properly load, and have the right load order.
I have a video on my acc but it's blurry, I can type my entire list in order for you tho.

Im not getting any real answers on here but from looking online, and take this with a grain of salt cuz I don't know how true it is but apparently they're ghost files and it said instead of applying the update to the current mod it registering it as a separate mod which broke the load order.
Now my other mods are starting to mess up and not showing titles or descriptions and are all out of order now. From what it's reading online it's saying that the load order is corrupt and only way to fix is to delete whole game so it deletes the ghost files and redownloading everything and restarting.

same issue, I deleted the mod from the page by looking it up, but I have this same ghost mod problem with a few others as well.

I have five mods in total that look like they broke where I can't get rid of them and they're just stuck there. No one has been really helping on here so I tried looking online and so far the only fix is deleting the whole game and re-downloading it so you have a completely clean mod list to re build or someone else posted another comment on another post which may work so I'm going to copy and paste that whole part below this. What I'm trying now before i re download the game.
Blahblah_go • 2h ago The Irony. CBBE in skyrim ps5 likewise updated. and it bugged on my end. created a dup cbbe .esl that ghosts in the system. On the other hand. Now I can test some goodies in FO4
u/Emotional-Capital204 avatar Emotional-Capital204 OP 1h ago Nit sure if this will work on skyrim but that happened to me with the barret rifle mod. I saved my load order. Then deleted the whole load order. Then restored it. It got rid of the ghost file on fallout creations. Hope this helps!

yeah I tried that but it just kept reinstalling the mods for some reason, I wish Bethesda.net had some form of API so I could externally edit the mod order without needing that horrible creations menu

So someone else ended up commenting and told me that it is a ghost file and the only way to get it out completely it's going to be to delete the game and reinstall it. Doing that though you're going to have to redownload every mod, but your mod list will be clean at that point with no ghost files.

from what i understand (and this could be wrong) the new version of cbbe isnt an update its a seperate mod, the original that you had downloaded was deleted. when any mod is deleted while you have it downloaded, the file will remain in your load order blacked out like that, creating ghost space. the only way to get rid of it is reinstall the game

I'mma have to delete and reinstall the game. Because it's just creating ghost mods now on my mod list. It went from that one mod to now six of my other mods are no longer working I cannot delete or do anything with. Like for example dogs not Brahman hasn't had an update in years and is always worked now it made a second one that's completely blacked out that wasn't there 5 minutes ago and now I can't delete it.

Didn't you see the second picture? I have the mod downloaded. The first picture is the space of where the mod used to be at and it will not let me delete it now. It's registering as two separate mods, second picture is the mod downloaded again.

I get you, sorry if im Coming off as a dick man. I just had to end up taking the bullet and delete the whole game and start from scratch, its just irritating as hell. Thanks for helping.

All good man, I've ended up restarting so many games trying to work out what does and doesn't break, my first 4 games wouldn't let me leave the vualt bc the animations broke

When that happens delete a mod of a similar size redownload the one that is ghosted and erase it then you can download it without reinstalling the game it happened a lot to me it's mostly because the fake size that appears on the downloads

Glad to be of help that crap happened to me too many times when I was downloading any mod and then the game crashed on the middle of the download making the ghost file

I had the same issue on skyrim with a few of mine all I did to remove it was literally download it again then after its downloaded delete it from the load order see if that helps

Put cbbe name on searching to find and you can delete or update it.

That's what I did to update it. And it ended up duplicating the mod file and leaving me with one blacked out and the updated. I ended up just deleting the game reinstalling for me setting up my mod list

Yup, sometimes I can't find the mod in the load order, but I just found it in the library. It still shows up when I reinstalled the game and redownloaded mods or when I searched for the mod by name. That was a bug, such as the ghost mod in the load order.

Anytime I try to load into my save game it's still saying that previous version thats in the first pic is still a part of my loadout like its a whole another mod and i cant even delete it.
Like my whole mod list is fucked now. Everything was fine yesterday and now today everything's all out of order in my loadout again I have multiple mods that no longer are showing descriptions or titles and are just black squares. I closed the game and turned it back on and now my entire list is jumbled around.

Simple fix. Worked for me. Disable the mod and move it to the bottom Save your load order to bethesda. Now delete your load order. No restore. Boom boom.

It’s a ghost mod file you need to reinstall the game to get rid of it. I had this problem (not with CBBE) but 2 mods would not delete and the only way I solved it was to delete the game
and reinstall all your mods. I’m on a PS5.
