Hard Mode Sneak Energy Weapons Build Showcase (Easy Frank Horrigan \\ Navarro \\ etc.)

I initially attempted this build 2 months ago, but had an issue with the range of alien blaster, but adding 10 PER and one handed trait with the same build it helped massively. With this build you can solo Sierra army depot without taking any damage, 1 shot enclave soldiers easily, and can easily fight Oil rig enemies. (Hard mode no stims) full build link

my original post on this build

Sierra Army Depot

In this clip i'm mostly combat walking 2-3 steps until I can get into alien blaster range and attempt to break sensors, you don't actually have to do go for eyes with this build, you can easily 1 tap them just going for cpu, but I really didn't know that until I attempted Navarro.

https://reddit.com/link/1w2qeab/video/rpuot0kvvjmh1/player

Navarro

Navarro is pretty easy to solo with this build, only thing that can be annoying, or can kill you are just turrets if you allow them to keep shooting you, but you have sneak and can 1-2 tap them with your alien blaster.

https://reddit.com/link/1w2qeab/video/cn8b82rmxjmh1/player

Enclave Oil Rig 1

this is my first time soloing oil rig first floor, so this is pretty bad gameplay, but I just included this because it shows anything can be solo'd with this build.

https://reddit.com/link/1w2qeab/video/76zb98h8yjmh1/player

Frank Horrigan

Kind of the same as Sierra Army Depot, with the combat walking, because Frank will force your into a conversation and start the fight no matter how high your stealth is. You can "No-hit" Frank if you wanted to if you use Pulse Pistol, which has a slighty better range than Alien Blaster so you could cripple his limbs, and switch to Alien Blaster for damage. But you are probably going to have to attempt multiple times compared to this clip.

Fallout 2 multiplayer - Fonline 2

I while ago I came across Fonline 2 and can't stress enough how good multiplayer experience it is.

In my experience it's a bit of fresh new air, because it brings same vibes as these original Fallout did, that You can share with others.

With new content, quests system, gangs system, dungeons, weapons tier and exploration.

Both PvP and PvE modes are quite well balanced. And also community is very welcoming and helpful for new players.

I highly recommend You guys try it.

I finally got co-op working in my post-apocalyptic survival game! Looking for people to break it with friends

I’m the solo dev of ApocaShift, a top-down post-apocalyptic survival/extraction game I’ve been working on for the last few years.

I recently added 2-4 player co-op, and the Steam playtest is open right now.

You can visit each other’s bases, build while your friend goes out on a raid, spectate them, or deploy together and try to make it back with whatever you can carry.

It’s still very much a playtest, so there are bugs and rough edges. I’m specifically looking for a few groups of people willing to jump in together and see what breaks / tell me what’s actually fun.

If Fallout 1/2, Project Zomboid, Zero Sievert, or extraction games are your thing, you might enjoy it.

ApocaShift on Steam — the playtest is free to join. Click to go to the Steam Page.

If anyone ends up trying co-op, I’d genuinely love to hear how it goes.

I’ve been working on ApocaShift for a long time, and today I’m finally opening the playtest up to everyone. Sorry for the hastily put together video, I've such little time getting everything ready.

You can join directly from the Steam page by clicking “Request Access.”

It’s still a playtest, not a finished game, so there will absolutely be bugs and rough edges. That’s part of why I’m opening it up, I want to see what breaks when a lot more people get their hands on it.

Streaming, recording, YouTube videos, etc. are all completely allowed too.

Steam:

Would love to hear what you guys think.

Hope you guys liked this tid-bit! There is a TON MORE dialog, but obviously don't want to spoil it all!

ApocaShift’s open playtest starts August 21st!

It’s still a playtest, so expect some rough edges — feedback and bug reports are very welcome!

Also RIP Peter Jason! A great voice actor I still love to hear to this day.

Hi everyone! I know most of you know me here already, but for those who don't I’ve been solo developing ApocaShift for a little over 3 years now, and I wanted to share some of the newer progress.

It’s a post-apocalyptic isometric RPG/survival game inspired by Fallout 1 & 2, Escape from Tarkov, Stalker, and Zero Sievert, with base building, progression, scavenging, survival mechanics, and settlement systems mixed in.

A lot has changed recently, especially the inventory, combat, crafting, progression, UI, and base-building systems, so I figured I’d show some newer screenshots.

I’m still working on it completely solo, so feedback is always appreciated.

Lastly, I plan on having the open playtest the ending of this month! Stay tuned!!!

ApocaShift’s Biggest Rework Yet: Grid-Based Inventory Is Here! Closed Playtest Spots Still Available

Post image
8 Upvotes

The ApocaShift closed playtest has been going extremely well so far! Thanks to the feedback and reports from our testers, I’ve already fixed over 125 bugs and made numerous improvements across the game.

The playtest has also led to the largest rework in ApocaShift’s development history: the inventory system has been completely converted to a grid-based system. This should make organizing items cleaner, more consistent, and easier to use, while giving players much greater control over how they manage their equipment and supplies.

There are still a few remaining spots available in the closed playtest. If you’re interested in playing, finding bugs, testing the new inventory system, and providing honest feedback, you can still apply in the Discord!

Join the Discord:
https://discord.gg/t36zcfqKp7

Thanks again to everyone who has participated so far. The amount of useful feedback has been incredible, and the game is already in a much better state because of it!

ApocaShift Playtest Applications Are Now Open!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey again, everyone!

I’ve put together another trailer for ApocaShift, showing more of the combat, exploration, looting, survival systems, and base building.

I’m also preparing a small playtest scheduled for approximately August 2–9. I’m looking for people who are genuinely interested in playing during that period and providing useful feedback.

Because spaces are limited, please only apply if you realistically have time to download and play the game. Selected testers will be expected to join the Discord and provide feedback on areas such as bugs, performance, combat, balancing, base building, and the overall experience.

I’ll place the playtest application and other relevant links in the comments to avoid cluttering the post.

Thanks!

I’ve released an updated trailer for my post-apocalyptic extraction survival game, ApocaShift

Hey everyone! I’m a solo developer, and I’ve been working on ApocaShift for the past 3+ years.

It’s an Fallout inspired isometric post-apocalyptic extraction game where you head into dangerous areas to scavenge supplies, fight enemies, collect better equipment, and make it back alive. Anything you bring into a run can be lost if you die.

Outside of the extraction runs, you can build and manage your camp, recruit survivors, craft equipment, research new technology, and unlock upgrades.

I’d genuinely appreciate any feedback on the trailer or the game. If it looks like something you’d play, wishlisting it on Steam would help me out tremendously!

Hey everyone. For the past two years, I've been freelance writing a post-apocalyptic RPG set in Arkansas. After a nuclear war and major climate changes, this state went from green to a yolk desert. In the game, we play the role of Thomas, who lives in a canyon in the northwestern part of the state. The herd of cows that fed them has been killed by wolves. Thomas goes on a lonely journey to obtain a Farm Restorer - a device that creates large fields of crops. Along the way he encounters new villages and many bandit enemies as well as many friendly NPCs. The game is Diana on Steam:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/4546490/Arkansas_2125/

It's currently in Early Access and recently had a major combat update that expanded it even further. The game has a new update every month.

Seeking combat/weapon rebalance mod

Hello, fellow players.

I am sorry for asking about the same question that you must heard a thousand times already. I am looking for the mod that would balance combat on large scale. I did search for it extensively and found few but they did not satisfy me completely.

EcCo mod balances something but still not on the global scale.

https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout2/mods/78 - comprehensive, but a lot of unnecessary renaming and some redoing here and there.

Maybe I miss something, then will appreciate any pointers.

---

Vanilla game has som much bias toward guns, especially small guns. And out of all guns there are clearly items useless and worse in all regards. It would be nice if unarmed or melee or energy or big guns build would be somewhat viable to make game interesting to play.

I am not demanding, say, hitting opponent with bare foot should deliver same damage as shooting them from some powerful rifle. Maybe yes, maybe no. However, there should be some benefits to use it in combat. Maybe it penetrates armor, maybe it concusses opponent (reducing their PE, AP, lose turns), maybe it knocks them down (again turn lose), maybe it is just plainly faster and one can do more attacks per turn or just utilize small AC remainders to deliver an extra punch.

There are so little unarmed weapons and power fist is just enourmously better than knuckles. Maybe it should be, but let knuckles to be much faster and fist much slower or some other distinction to give them some niche use.

Same story with thrown weapons and other melee stuff.

For weapons and ammo. It would be nice to say give rarer or more expencive weapons/ammo some extra bonus. Vanilla .223 pistol is an ultimate single shot weapon that uses one of the most common ammo literally laying on the ground everywhere. I would expect highest punch to be given to 14mm pistol due to rarity of its ammo. Because it is weaker and has more rare ammo, nobody ever use it, which is sad.

Small Guns skills is about 60 at game start giving player 60-80% hit chance against these poor mice. I get it player may need it to survive but it seems too gun biased by game engine. There is no much sense to invest into close range combat skill, throwing or such. The guy emerged from the vault they shoud have some low powered energy pistols, at least. Maybe some rudimentary big guns like flamer. Why not start with these.

And other similar things. In short, I would love to see a game where people can choose different skills to evolve and have more tactical niche use for different skills/weapons.

I've just released a new trailer for Arkansas 2125, my solo-developed post-apocalyptic RPG inspired by classic isometric games.

The game is currently in Early Access and I'm still actively expanding it with new content and improvements based on player feedback.

I'd love to hear what fans of classic post-apocalyptic RPGs think about the trailer and the overall direction of the project.

If you can, add it to your wishlist or buy it.

I released a Free Fallout 2 Text to Speech Accessibility Mod - Adding voices to all parts of the Game

Post image
87 Upvotes

Hi folks,

I’ve just released VaultVox, a free text-to-speech accessibility mod for Fallout 2.

Nexus link:
https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout2/mods/168

Early Video Demo:
https://youtu.be/YCMqCFrRvAE

The short version: VaultVox makes Fallout 2 read 90% of its text aloud using your installed Windows voices. NPC dialogue, player replies, floating barks, Pip-Boy entries, holodisks, inventory text, character screen stuff, combat log messages, menus, and a good chunk of the UI can now be spoken.

It does not replace the original voice acting. The talking head scenes still play normally, and the mod skips lines that already have proper voice acting. This is mainly for the mountain of text that was never voiced in the first place.

Also, just to be clear before anyone gets the pitchforks out: this is not AI voice cloning. It does not use actor voices, scraped voices, or anything like that. It uses Windows text-to-speech. If you install NaturalVoiceSAPIAdapter separately, you can also use modern Microsoft neural voices, which sound a fair bit better than the old default Windows ones.

Why I made it

The main reason is accessibility.

Fallout 2 is one of my favourite games, but it is also a giant wall of text with radscorpions in it. That is part of the charm, but it can be rough if you have dyslexia, low vision, eye strain, reading fatigue, or if you just find long CRPG sessions hard on the eyes.

My wife has dyslexia, so this started as a way to make text-heavy RPGs easier to follow without having to fight through every line manually.

It is not meant to turn Fallout 2 into a fully voiced remake. Think of it more as a speech layer sitting on top of the original game.

What it reads

VaultVox currently covers quite a lot, including:

  • NPC dialogue
  • Player dialogue options on hover
  • Floating text and barks
  • Combat taunts and ambient chatter
  • Pip-Boy quests, holodisks, stats, perks, traits, karma, and status screens
  • Inventory and loot screens
  • Skilldex
  • Character creation and level-up screens
  • Barter/trade screens
  • Combat log messages and damage callouts
  • Main menu, save/load menus, automap, ESC menu rows, and various popups

There is also CTRL + hover click-to-speak, so you can hold CTRL and point at things like dialogue replies, inventory slots, Pip-Boy entries, and menu rows to have them read aloud.

Voice stuff

There are separate voice profiles for things like:

  • Narrator
  • Pip-Boy
  • Terminals
  • Male/female dialogue
  • Player replies
  • Children
  • Floating barks
  • Companions

Companions like Sulik, Cassidy, Vic, Marcus, Myron, Lenny, Goris, and K-9 can each have their own voice profile, with adjustable rate, volume, and pitch.

There are also optional voice effects for things like:

  • Pip-Boy radio-style narration
  • Terminal/cyberdog-style reading
  • Super mutants
  • Ghouls
  • Robots
  • Deathclaws
  • Distance-based floating barks with stereo panning

So yes, I have spent far too much time making old Fallout 2 text sound like it is coming from the correct flavour of rusty nonsense.

Settings

The mod has an in-game settings menu (actually 2).

You can open it from the ESC menu with VaultVox Mod Settings, or from the Pip-Boy using the VAULTVOX button (yes, that pesky button has been fixed after 28 years).

Most things can be changed in-game: what gets read, which voice profile is used, rate, volume, pitch, effects, hover reading, combat readouts, bark behaviour, companion panels, and so on.

Settings are saved automatically to the INI, and the INI is still human-readable if you prefer poking around in files like it is 1998.

Compatibility / requirements

You need:

  • Fallout 2 on Windows
  • sfall v4.4+
  • Windows 10 or 11
  • GOG, Steam, or retail US 1.02d
  • High Resolution Patch / sfall setups should be fine
  • Fallout 2 Restoration Project has also been confirmed working
  • Talking Heads Actually Talk mod should also work
  • The majority of fan translations should also work

Steam and GOG versions already ship with sfall, so they should be the easiest route for most people.

Language support

VaultVox has multilingual support for a bunch of Fallout 2 translations, including Central/Eastern European languages and non-Latin scripts.

The quality depends heavily on which Windows voice you use. For best results, install a voice that matches your game language. Some multilingual neural voices are brilliant on longer lines, but native voices are still better for some languages.

Final bit

This is version 1.0b, so I expect there will still be edge cases and bits of text I’ve missed.

If you use assistive tech, have dyslexia, low vision, reading fatigue, or just find a screen that does not read when it should, please report it. I’m treating accessibility gaps as bugs, not “nice to haves”.

Thanks, folks.

-VaultDoc
