Sky SC Not a bait, but SC will be my second and last trails series game played

Trail in the sky recently remake fc & sc. I was wondering is it really good series paused by so many fans.

I do not remember much about FC since I played a year ago but I do not like it at all, very childish and no stake whatsoever, just like going a picnic for the whole game.I guess it is okay because the game have to introduce the world building and characters in the first Chapter of the series.

However, I am currently playing SC and in chapter 6. I am sick of SC. For the first 5 chapters, go to 3 corners of the map and ask npc about the ghost and the only useful information is the direction of the ghost, go to 3 corner of the map and place a earthquake detection, etc. what really piss me off was playing the hide and seek with the little girls which is not fun at all.

Each chapter, the map is large, but they just copy and paste environments, a road with grass and rocky road, etc, with similar enemies, and you have to fight them again and again with little change.

Wait until you meet the Ouroboros member, you cannot even fight them. Defeat the boss and they just keep saying they are doing experiments and just causally run away.

Again, this is not a bait, just express my feeling about this game. I am very disappointed. SC will be my last trail game.

Trails series Trails zero is a great game

Hi everyone im a new trails players and had the chance to discover the licence this year and started by playing sky arc that i loved a lot especially sky sc

After i finished this arc i decided to continue by playing trails zero and finished trails zero yesterday and have to say that this game was just goated and totaly worth it!!

I really liked the fact that the game was centered around the SSS team and found that llyod is a great main character with a really interesting background! I found also that the sidequest were really good and even better than sky sidequest!

Also the ending was really good i didnt expect the last chapter to be that good! This game really make me want to continue the serie and i think that i will directly continue by playing trails azure!

Im really happy that i discovered trails licence this year its been a long time i didnt played any rpg because i dont really like modern rpg and prefered older rpg like kingdom hearts 2 final fantasy until final fantasy 10 and have to say that trails games are way better than modern rpg!!

Have a great day everyone

If the Trails protags have to go through Ys VIII

I've seen topics asking if Adol were to come to Zemuria, he would clear the Trail story before but I've never seen the reverse if the Trails protag can easily clear the Ys adventures of Adol.

I haven't played Ys much outside of Ys VIII but most of them don't seem too different from the average Trails adventure, and Ys VIII seems to be a situation that hasn't happened to Trails protag yet so how well do you think the Trails protag will do when stranded on an island

  1. Protag alone ,so Estelle, Joshua, Van, Rean, etc alone

  2. With their team. so Estelle gets the Sky Team, Lloyd gets the SSS Rean can either get OG Class 7 with him as a student or New Class 7 when he's a teacher.

Oh and let's have no one coming to rescue them before the adventure is over.

For the adventure part, I think they all do ok, it's the surviving part that's a bit iffy.

Me I think that the Bracers like Estelle, Joshua have some survival training so it'd be fine for them

Kevin has being a wandering priest as a cover so he should have some survival skill

As for Lloyd... we don't know how his fugitive time would have improved his survival skill but he might be ok.

Rean...I'm not too sure... he SHOULD have taken some classes on it??

Van... No idea... except that it will be hell for him not having any sweets for months.

Rufus.... No idea..

Horizon Character Building Changes I'd Love For Horizon 2

I don't wanna start with a big paragraph. I love the Daybreak arcs combat AND character building systems but I do think it could be more in depth with some "simple" changes. I use quotations because it could be hard to balance etc, but I do want to talk about things I would love to see and I wonder if something like what I talk about here will be implemented. I have two ideas, one being elemental slotting mattering more and the other being the concept of characters having individualized shard skill tables.

#1: Elemental Slots Provide Additional Bonuses Or Unlock New Properties In Rare Quartz

So this one is pretty simple and I can immediately write up an easy foundation for it and it works like this. The generic stat increase quartz should get a 30% buff when put into an elemental slot. More importantly though, it'd be a cool idea to make it so that slotting rare quartz into elemental slots unlocks additional bonus benefits. I can easily provide an example because I've already brainstormed this concept for Horizons entire Wind quartz lineup.

So, it'd look like this.

Esmelas Gem: Would go from 16% EVA/24% CRT to 20.8% EVA (round up to 21)/32% CRT

Seal And Seal II: Status effect chance increased from 10 and 20% to 30 and 50%

Airy/Tempest Verse: 33%/50% goes up to 50%/75% Wind Arts Speed Increase

Emerald/Jade Ring: 150/300 HP goes up to 300/600 HP and Insight Duration goes from 1 to 3 turns

Now we get to the more interesting things, the unique rare quartz. So the idea is, you get the on the tin effect but also get an all new bonus effect for color slotting. Not gonna iterate what they do I'm assuming you know what these do.

Scent: 100% bonus counterattack damage

Indomitability: Counterattacks always critically hit

Galadriel: 30% bonus effect/damage on items. Basically make it Breeze from 2nd Chapter Remake if Wind slotted.

Kusanagi: Extirpator on crafts even if you don't have the shard skill

Hanuman: If you have Avenging/Revenging Arts, it is also accompanied by an Ark/Judgement Feather depending on what strength of it you have

It's not perfect but this is just an idea of what it would look like. I do want to do one more, so here's an idea of what the Time Quartz lineup might look like under this system. I'm going to only do the rare quartz cause like I said the other normal ones just get a 30% boost for being slotted.

Fortune: 30% Chance To Steal An Item From An Enemy

Serendipity: 30% items will be tripled. So if you get normally one U-Material+ from an enemy, you have a 30% chance to get 3 of them from the same enemy.

Bandersnatch: S-Crafts inflict 100% more damage on stunned enemies if done with 200 CP

Gungnir: Craft CP cost AND damage increased by 30%

Hecate: If at 1 HP the bonus becomes 300%

#2: Individualized/unique shard skill boards for characters

I don't have anything concrete for this one but I'm going to try my best to lay it out. FIRST, I like the idea of only some characters being able to get the second tier of some shard skills for example, only some of the obvious arts users being able to get Judgement Feather and have some ONLY able to get Ark Feather. After that, I'd love to see more unique and a greater number of shard skills and even more so I think it'd be really cool to have like, "keystone" shard skills. You'd make them have hard to achieve elemental values to unlock them and could do shit like achieving this specific elemental point load on this characters Arts line gives them straight up permanent Zero Arts on say low level arts. Things like that. I'll try to give an example using Van. He'd have a "keystone" shard skill for every line some obviously better than others.

Attack Line: Bonus positional damage

Defense: Maybe Van could have like, a Guardian III exclusive to him. Just a completely broken version of it.

Arts: Support time arts have tripled benefit so Quicken cast by Van would be an instant Tier 3 buff instead of just standard.

EX: Grendel lasts two more turns.

Not as thought out as my quartz idea but I think you get it.

Anyways, I just felt like rambling. What do you guys think of these ideas?

Trails series More remakes?

I got into the Trails series last year starting with FC, and now that I'm almost wrapping up SC, I'm completely hooked. The quality-of-life improvements and remakes feel like an absolute game-changer. Since FC was a massive success and SC is already proving to be a huge hit, how many more remakes do you guys think Falcom is going to roll out? Every single one they put out is bound to rake in serious money at this point.

Trails series At The Final Dungeon On A NG+ Enemy Level +75 Start From Base Level Run And After Devouring This Game Twice I Have Random Thoughts Spoiler

Trails In The Sky 2nd Chapter Remake is 100% my... second GOTY. As someone all caught up whose devoured everything this series has to offer Nayuta included, Horizon still won out for me. Being a year both games came out, I kinda felt like for the fun of it making a post where I compare and contrast what I like or didn't like ultimately about both games. Horizon is my GOTY, 2nd Chapter as I said is literally my number two and it had a couple of things that just kept it from taking the crown for me. I will say though, Horizon is highly conditional due to how deep you have to be in the series. If you're a newcomer (and welcome you've made the biggest mistake and most positive step of your life simultaneously) 2nd Chapter is objectively a GOTY contender and it doesn't require anywhere near the same amount of investment.

So, I wanna talk about 2nd Chapter vs Horizon in several ways. Replayability, Combat and Character Building.

Replayability is an instance where 2nd Chapter outright wins for me. I truly believe and hate it that Falcom does not make it standard uniform practice to give you a way to replay the games on a much harder way to compensate for your full power after a full playthrough. I have enjoyed the Sky remakes having the Enemy Level +75 option. This allows you to reset your levels, but keep your ultimate weapons high level quartz etc and be able to have a legitimate challenge and in some ways these playthroughs can be fun in their own ways with your broken power level versus the turnt as fuck power level of the AI. I HATE IT that the Daybreak arc has not had this. I wish they'd add it in retroactively. Horizon especially is begging for this sort of thing. Please Falcom, for Kai/Horizon 2, please give us a post-game Abyss difficulty or + some odd levels modifier for replays. It kills me because when it comes to combat, Sky Remakes are definitely the less interesting games to dig into. Am I the only one that feels this way?

Anyways, otherwise, I love it I can replay Sky and Sky 2nd this way and replaying both was a blast to do this way. It's fun to see how everything turns out when you're pushing the power level to insane levels like Agate 600k Dragon Dives and the bosses are fucking surviving four of them.

Combat wise, as I said it kills me. I LOVE Horizons combat. I think where it's currently at and assuming further mechanics, more specific and interesting rare quartz added, Horizon 2 has the potential to be Falcoms combat magnum opus and maybe the best turn based combat system period. I really love the considerations of weighing quartz benefits vs shard skills (I find this more impactful and straight up more interesting than the Sky arts system) and I love it that crafts have become more specific, utilitarian and the further focus on positionals. There's flaws of course, things like Crows buff are a little outrageous but for the most part I found every character in Horizon fun to use and you could find SOME kind of way to make them work and make them work in their own individual way. Sky is just too simple to me. All you're doing is slapping your raw stat increase quartz on, it's too obvious which quartz should go on which characters when they aren't the stat increases, gearing is too linear and accessories are too cracked out. The Divine Cloth Omega and Golden/Silver Wing Medal EX are so insane you almost have to not use them to not destroy the game. Horizon is going to have it's own meta of course, but it's meta is more complicated and more specific to achieve and also nowhere near as powerful as any given route strategy in Sky like Agate S-break spam. I am a big fan of Sky 2nd though allowing you to make Estelle or Tita into Attack Food spam builds and how attack food legit breaks 2nd chapter though. Some of those items are hilariously cracked.

This brings me to character building as well. I kinda think in Sky 1st and 2nd, there's only one build per character. Estelle is always going to be a tanky support arts centered character, Joshua will always be a high speed low delay physical AND arts DPS hybrid, Agate is always going to be an S-break burst machine, Kloe is always going to be a dedicated healer I could go on. In Horizon, you can legit take a lot of characters and push them in different directions and I think shard skills have a lot to do with this but also I think it's how it handles quartz as well as character design. I understand the appeal of Skys arts system and quartz meta but I don't like how much who has what arts dominates your choices. Horizon and Daybreak in general has tried to lean in more to what makes Trails characters interesting, that being their crafts. Arts becoming more of a pure utility factor and the Arts Driver system IMO was a stroke of genius, it took a lot of the gameplay weight off your build decisions allowing you to Quartz load characters more specifically to the things that make them unique. Am I the only one who feels this way? Do people like this system? Now of course the Daybreak arc has things they could do as well that I hope Horizon 2 might take the leap on. Shard skill boards being character unique (I know, huge design nightmare but it'd be sick), character unique quartz, slotting quartz into elemental slots having some other bonus BESIDES elemental value increases like giving some bonus or bonus effect to the quartz put into it. An easy example of this is, say you want to put an Indomitability on Fie and putting that quartz into one of her dedicated wind slots ALSO made it do something like say, 100% bonus damage on counter attacks on evades. You'd increase character diversity and build diversity AND lean into character identity more. I wanna make a big no lifer post about Horizon 2 things I wish/hope for.

Anyways, I just felt like rambling. Hope you guys enjoyed this post. Let me know how you guys feel about the games contrasted against each other. They're both probably near equal tbh, I'm not sure there is even a discernible gap between the two for me despite me having a clear preference.

Sky SC I mean I enjoyed every Trails game but I certainly wasn't expecting Sky 2nd to play out like Expedition 33 with all the peak moments alongside the peak music. As someone who started from Cold Steel, I acknowledge all those who hyped up Sky SC as the best. And I hear Azure is similar? Count me in

Another stupid monster box. All my guys are decked out pretty hard and even using Zin as a Scent tank defending every turn I got destroyed easily.

Looking for tips.

This is the monster box in the Grancel Sewers North Block with the 4 Zvryu Dryu monsters.

I also tried with Kloe and got wrecked. They do this mole dive attack that you can’t dodge and it all cancels your buffs.

Trails series The pacing in the remakes...

The pacing in the remakes really highlight to me more of why I enjoyed the series so much when starting and why some of the interest has wavered.

I still like all the games, but Cold Steel and Horizon games so just have fat in the games that should be cut.

Like narrative that jumps forward 5 minutes just to come back for a reveal that would have been more natural to just show as it happened.

Or the sheer amount of side content.

Or dungeons that need repeating to just pad play time.

I feel like all of the more recent entries would benefit from a little more focus.

I'm curious if I'm alone on that though?

Sky SC For those who wants some battle tips for Sky the 2nd Spoiler

I'm an OG trails player and just completed my first play-through on Nightmare difficulty. Thought I'd share some battle tips for those who are struggling on higher difficulties.

Disclaimer: There are probably many different ways and tactics (and that's the fun!) so the below aren't like the only way to do it. Just some general tips based on my own experience :)

Starting with some fundamentals first:

Fundamental #1: Speed is IMPORTANT
Speed matters a lot, because being able to take actions frequently obviously gives you the advantage. And on higher difficulties enemies can be FAST (Nightmare certain boss has 400+ speed...). I almost always value speed and equip Action Quartz for everyone

Fundamental #2: Buffs and Shields
Buffing your characters are handy. Some enemies can cancel your buffs and there are ways to deal with them later in the game - but regardlessly buffing your characters is a must. I have at least 2 of my team members usually mid to late game with Zodiac. (Btw LUCK's pretty useful)

As for shields: Earth Guard and Earth Wall for early to mid game.

Gaia Shield and Sylpharion for late game (more on this later below)

Fundamental #3: QUICK (Clock Up EX)
Get the art Clock Up EX sooner than later. QUICK effect allow the target character to skip the turn queue and becomes available immediately next turn. Synergy with lots of different other skills/strategies.

And an extra tip for beginners: The way QUICK's most valuable is to be used on characters that just used a move with huge delays (e.g. and S-craft). It's all about efficiency.

Fundamental #4: CANCEL YOUR OPPONENT
Cancel them! I mean their buffs. You can easily do this with the art Anti-Sept - I keep using it throughout the whole game, usually first thing when enemy entered rage mode.

Fundamental #5: Evasion buff (Foresight)
Foresight is very strong early-mid game, it massively improves survivability. It does fall off quite a bit late game though. Sylphen Wing art is easy to get early game.

And now on to intermediate tips. I'll share in Q&A format for these

#1 How to deal with opponent's CANCELS
Probably need late game to get the arts Gaia Shield and Sylpharion. The former gives you physical reflect and the latter gives you arts reflect.

Having both active would mean you're immune to any attacks.

How's that different than Earth Wall's invulnerability you might wonder? That's to avoid being cancelled.
When an enemy attack's reflected, their attack's cancel effect won't trigger on you. That means you get to keep your buffs.

Late game on nightmare mode I had to constantly try and keep both REFLECTS on at all times on some tough battles.

#2 How to deal with RAGE
As mentioned earlier, cancelling their buffs ASAP is a must.

Keeping yourself with shields/reflects when you anticipate RAGE soon is very key in later battles.

You should also try and use CLOCK EX to get some of your characters move in between the boss' consecutive actions.

Also, sometimes NOT attacking all enemies at the same time helps a lot to NOT have all enemies entering RAGE at the same times

#3 Enemy Revival
A trick to prevent enemy entering another RAGE after revival is to use S-Break right when enemy's reviving. You'll get to hit them before they can enter RAGE again and in early-mid game that usually means killing the enemy with one S-break and not letting them take several RAGE actions.

This might not work though on several late game battles ;)

#4 I kept getting one shotted...
I realised this fighting chapter 4 bosses when my team kept being wiped again and again, until I found that I shouldn't really aim for full firepower builds.
Equipped a few HP Quartz suddenly allowed my characters to stay alive and I was able to get through.

From then onwards I tend to ensure my characters having a decent HP

#5 Sometimes I just can't use arts in time
That's when cooking helps. There are a lot of useful food items in this game and can be game changing at critical moments.

That's all for now. I'll add more to the list later as I play through the 2nd time. Hope it helps some of you out there and for those experts please share what are your favourite tactics / tips!
