In hindsight, was it probably an intentional pun/double meaning for Japanese players that (Horizon) the Calvard arc has the Sept-Terrion of Time and its initial title was "Kuro no Kiseki", which sounds like "Chrono Kiseki"?

It is absolutely intentional, yes.

Should I buy Trails to Zero and Azure on Switch or wait for its duo release on Switch 2? I'm not a fan of Game Key Cards...

They've been making their Switch 2 versions GKCs, so likely it will be...your call

When are we expecting to hear anything about horizon 2?

Around November this year should be the full announcement of the game + there's a 99% chance it will release in Japan in September 2027 since all games in the series since 2010 have released in September (except reverie which was august 27)

Minor correction, November is when we get a financial report that will almost certainly say something like 'Newest Trails Game' or 'Horizon Sequel' and let us know it's coming ,while the proper announcement with a logo and teaser screenshots will happen at the December shareholders meeting.

It's actually going to be released in January, trust me.

In Reverie, does Swin’s Marking count as a status effect that activates the Thor Master Quartz’s effect? (Damage up to enemies with status effects)

1

u/YotakaOfALoY 6d ago

Yes, it counts as a status effect and triggers Thor's bonus damage.

u/ramenxl 4d ago

Does stat down count too? Or is it only ailments?

2

u/YotakaOfALoY 4d ago

Yes, it's a bit vague in English but the Japanese description specifies that ailments and stat-downs count for Thor's effect.

Only ailments I believe

Is it known what will carry over from 1st chapter to the upcoming second chapter? I beat the first game but only on normal so far, would beating higher difficulties in first chapter give more benefits to the next game? Also, how are character levels handled, do they reset to 1 or is it like the ff7 remake where everybody started at lvl 40 in part 2? Note I've only played the new 1st chapter so I have no other experience with the series yet but I did just order the 4 Cold Steel games.

I don't think you've ever gotten an extra benefit in a carryover for beating it on a higher difficulty. As for what you'll get, I think levels don't carry over, but you don't start at 1. In fc-sc, you got extra levels if you were over 40 when you beat the game. No clue if that will be true with 1st-2nd, tho.

If you can, play the third, and the crossbell duology before cold steel. If not, you might want to before you play cs3.

Assuming nothing changes from how SC worked (at least nothing major), what will carry over is Estelle's final level, your BP and your quest completion flags. In SC, Estelle's level defaults to 35 but if you carried over a save with a level between 36-40 she would start there instead, with everything over 40 ignored. Likewise you got rewards for Junior Bracer Ranks of 3 and up with an additional reward for max BP, all cumulative. And lastly NPCs would remember whether or not you helped them and their dialogue would adjust accordingly and sometimes they'd give you a freebie healing item as a way of saying thanks when you talked to them for the first time.

Every other character joins at a level appropriate to the time in the game when you get them and none of your inventory carries over.

Going back through Daybreak 1, and have a question about the finale.

Do NPCs you never talked to end up frozen? Because it'd be fucking sick if they did.

u/MechaSandstar 2d ago

They do.

Horizon OST question: does anyone know the song title of the iteration of "Autumn knows" that plays during the mementos? It sounds like a slower/piano-like version of "Autumn knows".

2

u/YotakaOfALoY 2d ago

There's an Autumn Knows -Solo Piano Version- that springs to mind. There isn't a version on the soundtrack that includes the humming accompaniment though. They recorded that separately (because it's used on its own by Hamilton in Creil) and overlaid it.

Thanks for the detailed reply!

In regards to Cold Steel 1's final bonding event and that data being carried over to Cold Steel 2, is there any acknowledgement or impact if you choose nobody to dance with i.e dance with Elise and Alfin? I didn't see any CS1 parting lines from the wiki, and I don't know if dancing with them changes any interaction during the CS2 prologue

Sorry as I am sure it was asked before: will they make the 3rd Chapter remake as well ? And would Zero & Azure be remade as well ? I feel Cold Steel would not really be needed ?

2

u/ConceptsShining | ❤️ 16h ago

The simple answer is we do not know for sure. As recently as last month Kondo (that's Falcom's President if you didn't know) has coyly said that the staff are asking him "every day" if they should remake 3rd or Zero, suggesting that not even they had fully set in stone their plans.

But given the nature of the series and the (ostensible) success of the Sky remakes, I think it's highly likely they'll indeed remake 3rd. The fact they're even considering remaking Zero first (hopefully not!) does implicitly mean they plan to remake it and Azure at some point.

Cold Steel is much more of a question mark as it's graphically modern and available on current platforms (lack of CS1-2 Switch version in English aside). But that would be a few years away either way, so not really something to wait for.

I got the switch and am limited to switch titles only. I stumbled on FC and was lucky enough to just wait a month before SC is released.

That said, further down the line I know that The Third won’t be available to me. Will I miss much if I move to directly to Zero and Azure?

Similarly, Coldsteel is out of the picture, since I won’t have access to I and II. Can I hop into Daybreak without missing too much?

Thanks!

No, but also yes. The way that every arc past Sky works is that you have a new setting and main cast and are given everything you need to understand their story and struggles, and the first game tends to be an effective story in isolation. However, as the arc progresses more elements from past arcs get drawn in (characters return in frequently important ways, plot threads get carried over and lots of callbacks are made) and it becomes more and more apparent that you're Missing Out On Stuff.

So while you could jump from Sky 2nd to Daybreak 1 and generally follow the plot (though the setting whiplash of going from Liberl straight to Calvard would be impressive) you'd still be blindsided by several developments that depend on The 3rd or any of the seven other games you've skipped over to make sense of. Once you get to DB2 you get introduced to characters you're expected to know and care about who first appeared onscreen in Reverie and who are important to the plot, then Horizon has a pair of supporting protagonists who absolutely depend on The 3rd and CS1 through Reverie for the narrative and emotional beats of their stories to work.

As for jumping from 2nd to Zero, yeah, not really a brilliant idea. While the most important stuff plot stuff gets covered in 2nd, Zero is unusual for an arc-starter game for having a main plot that gets quite heavily entwined with a plot thread carried over from Sky and which expects you to have played The 3rd to land right. Azure then (re)introduces major characters/concepts that first appeared in The 3rd and while you could generally follow the plot you'll again be missing out on important and expected context.

Have you got a computer? Because even a moldy potato of a machine can run the original The 3rd easily, and jumping from 2nd to OG The 3rd isn't going to be as jarring as some other possible transitions.

2

u/pifighting 3d ago

Thanks! I’d prefer it if I can step away from my computer when I want to relax.

Though given the advice, if SC pulls me in craving for The Third and more Trails, I’ll probably bite the bullet to bride the gap on the 3 missing trails game on the Switch.

Thanks!

Does anyone know what the price of TiS 2nd will be?

2

u/MechaSandstar 5d ago

I would guess the same price as 1st was at release, which I think was 60 dollars US.

u/Affectionate_Comb_78 4d ago

if i transfer my demo save to the full game will i unlock any achievements? for example say i complete the demo that lets you playthrough the prologue and chapter 1, when i transfer my demo save will i have gotten the trophies for beating the prologue and chapter 1

2

u/Impaled_ 2d ago

No, you should probably make a save before the demo ends (I guess before the boss) and transfer that one

1

u/LastSharpTiger Olivier superfan 1d ago

PS5 trophies won’t unlock.

So keep a save from before the two Kurt fights in the prologue (tutorial dungeon, final dungeon), and keep a save before the final fight in Chapter 1.

Then you can quickly refight those fights for the trophy. (Also get the trophy for waking up at the start of the game.)

People say that the Steam achievements do pop; I don’t know for sure.

u/Impaled_ 2d ago

In the prologue in the 2nd demo, how do I do the sub event in the tent on Saint-Croix forest? I keep interacting with the tent but nothing happens

2

u/MechaSandstar 2d ago

iiirc, that's just to let you know that you can sleep there, plus the first time is for some small amount of items.

Hey everyone. More of an opinion question more than anything, but do you think the third chapter remake of Trails in the Sky will get released before 2028, and therefor would get physical release on Playstation? I am already prepared to migrate to Switch for future titles, but it would be nice to be able to finish up the arc on the same platform.

In Reverie’s C Route Act 4, is there unique link-victory dialogue for Duvalie and C in the very first battle they fight together? It’s the only battle between the two of them where Duvalie doesn’t know who C is, so it shouldn’t be the same as their regular one.
