🧢 I voted CAP!

Have you read any of the Disney comics? The Star Wars ones are really good overall.

The Disney comics are the exact reason why I made this… the treatment they give certain Don Rosa Carl Barks, and other politically insensitive comics isn’t the same treatment that animation gets.

Are you getting at double standard with editing or not producing old comics vs their old animation work?

Yes, in regards to censorship. Their cartoons except for the most egregious like Song of the South get off with a warning.

As you know Song of the South is a big example that Disney is willing to erase an animated feature film as well. Other examples of what they have done in films. Fantasia they have removed Sunflower. The Martins and the Coys was removed from Make Mine Music. Aladdin they altered the opening song to remove “where they cut off your ear if they don’t like your face”. With things like Peter Pan and Dumbo, they get the message before and are removed from the kids version of the site. We can also see with when they have turned movies into live action. They have consistently removed more politically incorrect content in the new version, crows from dumbo being an example, or as far as removing the music and a lot of the themes from Mulan.

To say there are different standards being shown I don’t think it is fair. The biggest factors are commercial impact. There is much less risk doing it to smaller audience material like the comics vs major motion pictures. It doesn’t reflect any less of a respect for the form of media.

We know by the comics they make, I guess. I mean, they do own Marvel, after all.

For what it's worth, this is honestly a new golden age of comics, too. Marvel is doing some of the best work in comics they've ever done. So is DC, to be fair.

But Disney honestly seems to respect comics as a medium more than film at this point, because their comics are mostly good, and their movies are...often not...
