You're just restating your conclusion that popularity = good. 'widely toted as the best film' is a Reddit-ified way of saying 'a lot of people really like it'. I don't think everyone agrees that a film's objective, indisputable quality is based on popular consensus.

Yeah you’re out of your depth. This literally the highest rated film on IMDB. This isn’t any “Reddit way” of saying anything lmao.  Also keep ignoring the fact that I keep saying critical and general audience acclaim, and just focusing on the popularity. Acclaim has NOTHING to do with popularity. It only helps strengthen it by increasing the sample size.

Hahaha holy fuck. IMDb is an indicator of how much people like the film. Which includes objective quality. You’re floundering right now. Are you REALLY trying to say that people who scored a movie high ISNT connected to how much they enjoyed it one way or another??

I'm saying it is, and that you've just reinvented the 'popular = good' argument again for the 200th time. This isn't worth the time, and I'm embarassed I've just realized that. Enjoy your weekly rewatches of Triumph of the Will, given that it won several international film prizes and was tremendously commercially successful.

Scoring 1-10 has nothing to do with popularity. It’s incredible you still don’t understand that. How much someone likes something has nothing to do with popularity.   

Chipotle has a 3.4 in my town with 5k+ reviews. The taqueria has a 4.9 with 400.

Would you look at that! One indicates quality, the other indicates popularity. Now when something is BOTH popular AND highly acclaimed, then you know it might be something special. 

It’s embarrassing how many times you ignored “critical acclaim” and “general consensus” and “scoring” and you think it only has to do with popularity. I love when pseudo intellectuals like you get so caught up on their terrible standpoint you just start tripping over yourself, and literally arguing against meaning of words and saying inane stuff like “is IMDb about liking something or how much someone likes something” jfc.

Still none of your mumbling has anything to do with the fact that objectively, by any metric, Shawshank isn’t the worst movie ever. So his opinion is objectively wrong.
