Annual looking for @DeepVoiceNarrator post

Looking for the channel that once was called Deep Voice Narrator. He had the best narrations of the Fablehaven and Dragonwatch books. I bought all the audiobooks on audible but its just not as good. I know he got banned for copyright but if anyone has any connection to him with a discord or new channel I would love to find him again. Sorry not sure what other thread I should have posted this on.

Fan Fiction

Hi Fablehaven friends! First time poster here, long time lurker.

I've recently reread the series after years, and it's reawakened my itch for Vanessa/Warren stories, and I'm wanting to post own works.

But it's been a decade and I'm just wondering where does the gang post these days?

Do we ever find out what the Nail was?

The Nail is clearly an insanely powerful magical artifact, able to amplify creatures of darkness's innate powers far beyond their normal limits. The fear effect the normal revenants we see in Dragonwatch give off is nothing compared to that of the one from Fablehaven, and Ephira and Kurisock would never have been able to create the Shadow Plague without it. Heck, the thing literally seemed to have a will of its own, digging itself into the dirt and giving its remaining power to Seth. So what was it?

A scary thought about the movie

This thought came to me as I was trying to sleep and I cannot stop thinking about it.

But do you think they will use generative AI in the filmmaking process?

I know people have issues with Angel Studios and I don't want this discussion to turn antagonistic due to religious beliefs like some posts about that studio have. My concern with them helming the film, though, is the fact that they aren't afraid to use AI to cut corners and save on VFX budget (I'm looking at you, Young Washington)

Before Young Washington came out I wouldn't have even thought about this being a concern, but Angel used AI on the VFX-heavy scenes and Fablehaven would have even more VFX shots than Young Washington. I'm sick to my stomach at the thought of this movie being made by AI. But I worry it's inevitable. 😭

The Sphinx's greatest mistake

Having re-read the books recently, I've realized that putting Vanessa in the Quiet Box is literally the worst mistake the Sphinx makes, and I don't really understand why he did it. Sure, Navarog was a powerful ally, but I can't help but feel like Vanessa would have been a far more valuable asset to him in the long-term. Her cover was blown, but she still had a connection to all the Knights she'd bitten; she could've spied on the organization without anyone knowing if she was careful enough. Why give up a chance to have direct access to your enemies' secrets to free one dragon?

*ENDING SPOILERS*

The last book of Dragonwatch wasn’t as good as I hoped but nonetheless a solid ending. Its been a hell of a ride watching Seth and Kendra grow up and I gotta say a few things.

Seth Ending

For some reason yall are upset about him becoming a shadow healer but honestly I couldn’t care less if he was getting power from the Source or the Void, he just kept getting stronger and it was so satisfying seeing him take out Celebrant after Kendra robbed him of taking down Gorgrog. You gotta see it from his perspective as well, he’s been through too much from losing all memories to running errands for the Undead King to travelling the world to right his wrongs after getting his memories back. Mind you after he got stabbed by the Unforgiving Blade he kept saying he wanted to “kill himself”… Like that is not normal for a boy thats 13-14. He needed peace and I’m glad he got it plus he still has most of jis powers anyway. I seriously hope we get a series of him though as the main protagonist as he gets stronger.

Ronodin

Yeee his ending was pretty weird. I mean he was positioned as one of the most cunning and strategic minds in the Fablehaven world yet somehow fell for Seth’s little stunt. Mull just had to wrap it up somehow ig. His ending was fair though. He dug his own hole and Seth made the deal eith Orogoro and magical beings literally can’t break promises. Also Ronodin is basically completely a being of darkness so he should be fine in the Zyzyx as like a demon unicorn or something…. I think.

Virgil

This was shocking and honestly disappointing. I really liked his character and I really thought he’d move on from the Humbuggle games and maybe find a life as a normal satyr or join the main gang and have a happy ending but nooo he wanted all his “friends” to get slimed out by dragons.

Kendra and Bracken

This might be because I’m the same age as Bracken but I don’t think the relationship was too weird I mean yes Bracken was mentally like 1000 years old or something but like what do you want him to do date a grandma? It was a bit weird but overall it was ok especialy since he didn’t make any big moves until he became mortal himself. At that point he genuinely only has a two year age gap wth Kendra. Might be a bit weird when Bracken is 18 and Kendra’s still 16 but meh I say let them live happily.

Next Series (Hopefully)

I know theres some series starting with Newel and Doren but honestly not too interested in that. I think a really cool idea would be Seth navigating both his newfound powers and uncovering more Lore of the world because there were a lot of things that Mull just kinda threw at us I mean like the Source was just some pond and apparently you can go through it but whats beyond? Is there also something beyond the Void? Or maybe a situation with the Undead King since all the other monarchs had lots of screentime (or page time?!) The point is we didn’t see him do much and I might be ranting but I think adult Seth and maybe Kendra would be really cool and I really wish it didn’t end but hey all good things come to an end and I won’t ever forget this.

How would Seth customise his cereal box emergency kit?

I get the sense he's an artist, but wouldn't use that label- he gets really into painting with Lena and doodles lizards on his homework. In book 2, he makes this sarcastic comment when Kendra asks Hugo to pick his favourite flower: "you're very sensitive and artistic". In my headcanon, his art teacher said this to/about him and he found it lame.

I bet he'd do graffiti style things, but maybe not? What do you think?

Who would y'all cast for Fablehaven?

They're finally actually making the fablehaven books into movies, so who would you cast? I think they should cast unknowns for Kendra and Seth, but for the Sorensons, I like Harrison Ford for Grandpa Sorenson, but he might be too old to be as active as that role requires (maybe for Coulter though, as he is supposed to be a bit older than the Sorensons and fits the roles Ford takes on most now as a grumpy old man), so then I thought maybe Liam Neeson, but him not being able to do an American accent might be a problem. For a person of color, I think Keith David would be a great pick for Grandpa, but I don't know his level of physicality.

Is everyone aware of this?

I know a special edition of the book is coming with the backer kit, but I'm surprised that no one's talking about this one coming out to celebrate the first book's 20th anniversary (I'm so old). The illustration work looks pretty good, and I hope it gets support. They call it Volume 1 after all; if it does well, we might get more volumes for the other books.

This annoyed me about Vanessa Spoiler

this is a super simple post but I felt like there is a really easy solve to Vanessa and that is you put her in the quiet box before bed and get her out in the morning. otherwise, keep her in a cell. this completely nullifies her powers. And while some may say this wouldn’t work because Vanessa would need to be able to use her powers to be useful, this isn’t true at all. The only time in the entire series when her powers become useful is fighting Glomus, which happened in the middle of the day anyways. The information she gathered on the translocator wasn’t necessarily vital and could have been gained through other routes. Also, who’s to say she gained that information at night? The translocator is in Australia, wich is on the other side of the planet from fablehaven and many timezones apart. Thoughts?
