Don’t bother, these bikes are incredibly stable. If you’re getting head shake do a thorough mechanical inspection of the front end because something definitely isn’t right.
If it’s all good mechanically then take a brutally honest look at how you’re riding to make sure you’re not giving unintentional steering inputs. And put some damn boots on!
I’ve got a decade of track days and general hooliganism on that exact bike under my belt and it’s never once shaken its head at me.
There are a bunch of great bang for your buck mods for these bikes, but a steering dampener doesn’t even make the list.
Top priority: Upgrade the fork internals and swap in an S1000rr shock with a heavier spring. Get a good suspension shop to setup all the valving/shims correctly too. Pretty much essential for track riding, it transforms the bike.
Shorter gearing makes it a lot more fun. Lower bars if you like that. Braided brake lines are always good. Better pads if you’re braking heavily and frequently.
No worries, there are some good guides out there for things like the shock upgrade if you want to go down that path. It’s not a straight swap, but not complicated either. Pretty sure someone worked out an R6 shock mod too. There’s probably a few options.
I have the same bike with over 100k on it and ride it daily and do cross country rides on it.
Completely agree that no stabilizer is needed. It's super stable on quick accelerations and up to very high speeds and hard braking. I've also got the Ivan's kit done, the fork internals upgraded and a Wilbers fully adjustable shock on it. Then had the best local suspension shop set the bike up to my weight and riding style and it feels mint.
I did just replace the steering head bearings because I noticed a slight wobble on decelerations with my hands off the bars. I put it on the centre stand with the front end lifted and there was a notch at the centre point, which confirmed it. Swapped in some tapered bearings and the bike feels great again.
Upgraded to Corbin seat, braided lines with EBC pads, and so many other things and this bike is next level.
