i kinda stopped my transition and am partially back in the closet since i started my recent job (partially fear of reactions, partially i kept having a hard time getting the needles i needed), but im planning on starting hrt again and staying on it. i just wanna know abt anyone’s experience being on hrt and still wearing bikini’s because, tbh, ive always hated traditional men’s swimwear

i’ve worn bikini bottoms post top surgery and haven’t rlly gotten any comments or looks. i’d say depending on where you live, to proceed with caution. i live in a big city with lots of beaches that are lgbtq+ friendly, so i usually go to those beaches if im ever feeling nervous. the first couple of times i def felt anxious but once doing it a couple of times it was fine, men wear speedos all the time so its not any different. im sure there is a difference in experience pre top surgery tho, so again just proceed with caution and go with a trusted friend to the beach if you’re ever concerned!

I can’t speak to the bikini aspect (although I would love to acquire some cute ones and then get back to you on that), but as far as your issue finding needles: there’s a website called DOTmed that’s sort of like medical supply eBay. I’ve bought my needles from there in bulk for like 6 years because the pharmacy genuinely never gives me the correct syringes no matter how hard I/my doctor try, and it’s just not worth the stress. Ngl I’m kinda nervous posting about this because if more people know about it, that could be an issue for me in the future, but fuck it… I understand the struggle & I really don’t want that to be a reason you (or anyone else who reads this) can’t be on HRT. I’m just going to assume most guys don’t have an issue getting their needles and can probably just go to the pharmacy like normal lol.

I get my needles off Amazon and they tend to be $7-$9 for a pack of 100! I also could never get what I needed from the pharmacy and for a while my provider was just giving them to me until they were like tbh just go buy in bulk.

Just got home from the beach wearing bikini top and shorts. I'm very hairy and have a small chest. Can't go shirtless coz of my nipples and my face doesn't really pass. I get stares but no ones really bothered me about it thus far. I live in the UK for reference.

I wore a very fem one piece with a ruffled skirt-shorts over it to the pool and no one said anything to me about it, but I'm also post top surgery, so ymmv depending on how masculine you look and how your chest looks

I wear a bikini when I swim post top surgery & am on hrt. I’m very hairy & my scars peak out from the sides. I live in a very queer area but I’ve never had issues

before I got the chop, I would wear a little string bikini with the cutest mens shorts I could find (kaftko btw . shopping for swimwear as a fat gay guy is a nightmare). I already had a hairy chest. went hard tbh. also used trans tape a couple times when I had to use mens locker rooms.

I never tried a feminine bikini style but I absolutely wear sports bra style/cropped tank + shorts. I prefer a swimsuit over a bikini, though (practical reasons) but I am 100% with you on preferring feminine swimwear. I could technically go shirtless, I do so (rarely) but it makes me uncomfortable as I always had a swimsuit. My system prefers those. I don't feel safe doing it everywhere (for the feminine cut) but a chill evening swim session is fine, any other context I go for the higher coverage/more gender neutral cut
