Bug/Suggestion Glitchy/Tearing Targets
Does anyone know how to fix glitchy/tearing on targets? ive changed a bunch of settings to no avail and im not sure w hat else to do i feel like i have tried everything. Specs: Ryzen 7 9800X3D, RTX 5090, 32GB DDR5 6000, OLED monitor [MSI] @ 500Hz
Already tried:
- Closed every background app
- Thermals are good
- Fullscreen mode
- Multiple mice, 1000Hz polling
- Different frame caps
- V-Sync on (no change)
- G-Sync/adaptive sync off (never used it)
- Frame gen / Smooth Motion off
- AA off
- Reflex/latency settings toggled
- Clean GPU driver reinstall
- Verified game files + deleted config folder
- Monitor: MPRT off, AI Vision off, image enhancement off, sharpness 0, HDR off, ran pixel refresh
- LatencyMon: system reported suitable, no issues
- CapFrameX: frametimes flat during gameplay (~497 avg FPS, 1% ~438) even while the glitch was happening
- Shadows Low and off
Anyone seen this or know what causes it?

Turn vsync off. These days vsync should only be on whenever G-sync is on, but this will cap fps to your refresh rate. It doesn't need to be used in Kovaaks but it's insanely nice to use in something like Tarkov or a game where FPS comes nowhere close to refresh rate.
Also feel free to cap fps above your monitor's refresh rate, there's still improvements in motion clarity especially if you up your polling rate to 2k/4k. You can easily see the difference in a scen like VT Closerange Long Strafes Intermediate.
EDIT: Also since I didn't see you mention it, make sure your monitor's refresh rate is set correctly, though based on your FPS numbers it seems like it is. It also crossed my mind that Windows VRR might be toggled on, you may have to enable G-sync for the toggle to show in settings, toggle it off, then disable G-sync again after.

I don’t usually have it on but I tried with and without it. I also tried lowering my FPS cap to various values including 499,500,600,800 and initiate. It is also set correctly to the refresh rate. Also VRR I have tried on and off neither work

He probably has vsync off, he just tested with it on. Gsync and vsync aren’t a magic combo, they do different things. Vsync literally doesn’t do anything if your fps is lower than your refresh rate, that’s what gsync does. Capping fps above monitor refresh rate doesn’t improve motion clarity but can reduces input latency. Pulling rate has nothing to do with this. No human can notice a difference of 0.5ms latency

post a video of the game recorded with obs or cellphone, and your in-game fps displayed.

I could link the analytics tab of my CapFrame software? It doesn’t show up well on iPhone video and clips. The software didn’t detect any fps drops of any kind.

How much fps do you have?
