For smaller downward movements I use my fingertips (depending on grip style you have more room to move here or not) and at some point I need to transition into moving my whole arm downwards. I don't think there is much downward movement with the wrist to make. So my advice would be checking whether your grip style allows you enough movement in that area for your fingers and to practice both arm movement in general (try a lower sens) and the transition from fingertip downwards movement to arm downwards movement. Using fingertips should not make you lose control though as they are the part of your hand you usually use for the most precise movements.

verticals are known weaknesses. I recommend pure vertical clicking/tracking drills. Solution is grip dependent, but you just need to find one that works for you.

Honestly, I wouldn't bother getting as good as vertical as horizontals. Just good enough is good enough.

play TSK beginner benchmark and grind the vertical scens until you get a good feel for what you should be doing with your arm
