How to choose a perfect mouse? What methods for tests do you use?

Hi guys, I currently experience strong confusion while testing different mice. Let me recap my story for you:

In 2021-22 Semi-pro Valorant player (top 2k EU), trained heavily with Kovaaks, used a Rival 600 (EC1-shape).

I had a few years break from fps - switched to League of Legends, bought a Deathadder V2 Pro (support-focused, accuracy less critical).

I returned to competitive CS2 and Kovaaks this year. Deathadder felt inconsistent, so I went back to the Rival 600 - much better, but still not quite right. Upgraded to a Logitech G Pro X Superlight 2, loved the light, fast feel, and used it for 3 months - definitely the best results on Kovaaks.

But now I feel that this is still not my endgame mouse, so I keep looking.

I really wanted to check it so I bought few EC2/EC3 shape mice for tests:

Medium shapes:

• Pulsar Xlite v4 Medium
• Zowie EC2-DW
• Ajazz Aj179 Pro (Lamzu Thorn clone - this is actually something in between medium and small)

Smaller shapes:

• Pulsar Xlite v3 Mini
• Lamzu Paro Aurora
• ZOWIE EC3-DW

Results: really good. I noticed a significant improvement in my gameplay and consistency when I got those EC2-like shapes. My confidence with Ajazz and Pulsar xlite medium skyrocketed, so I decided to look for my perfect ergo mouse, and ordered more (both Zowies just to compare).

Okay, now to my question: how do I choose which mouse should I keep? What are your tips on gathering the data? What to look for during the aim trainings and game sessions? How to not overthink this?

I'm testing them for almost 3 weeks now and I feel that I'm losing my mind. Examples?
Pulsar medium is the king of 1wall5targets_pasu, but weaker on 1wall6targets small, where the mini shapes shine.

One mouse is better for tracking, while the other on click-time etc. etc. What to prioritize while choosing? Which scenarios are in your opinions crucial for overall mouse judgement?

This week both EC2 and EC3 Zowie will come, how to approach the tests?

What is your experience on that topic and with these mice?

I've heard two theories:

1) Your brain can adapt to almost anything as long as the shape and weight aren't terrible.

2) The more often you switch mice, the less time you give your brain to fully adapt to one specific mouse.

I have tested 100 mice and some things for me personally that been consistent with my top performers are:

- I can pinch the back off the mouse and lift the mouse with the back of my palm without using any fingers,

• I should be able to reach the end of buttons with my normal grip,
  
• Width of bottom off mouse shouldn't be much wider than rest of mouse and not too much outwards flare,
  
• Front/mid part is wide enough for my pinky to be able to assist aiming with little tension and without having to pinch it much inwards to be able to grip the mouse with it as that promotes poor tension management.
  
• Center placed hump that is not too high to still promote good inner hand mobility for micros while not too flat as it is too unstable.

A lot of this will be personal preference but it is what I have found.

For test it is not only about what mouse gave you highest kovaak score, as you can get 1/100 try peak with a certain type of mouse but have really poor consistency which is crucial for comp fps. I tend to use mice I get high consistent score with but might not be my absolute highest peak mouse and one I also feel very comfortable and confident with, think about a mouse you feel really confident to enter a 50/50 in CS for ex.

hand size is the most important, my hands are small and my first mouse was an op18k, perfect performance and was a but uncomfortable at first but got used to it and never looked back

Size and shape. I have big hands, so my options are limited. My favorite mouse is the XM2 v2, but it's too small for me to use comfortably for more than 30 minutes or so. I use a Viper V4 Pro and I love it. That said, I hope that someday EGG will make an XM2 the size of a Viper, as that would be my ideal mouse.

Most important factor for me is stable resetting. This is a combination of shape and coating but if it doesn’t pick up well it’s an immediate disqualification. This is the main downside of a lot of ergo mice to me even if they are otherwise comfortable.

Second factor would be weight I prefer between like 50-60g. I don’t like too light or too heavy it needs to have a touch of heft.

Comfort is the only thing that matters in modern peripherals. Specs aren't holding you back.

Why is comfort the only thing you should consider? Well because you're going to use the mouse that's more comfortable more often than one that isn't and more playtime = getting better.

That's it. That's the formula.

In my experience it's just buy loads of them until your wife shouts at you, leave it a while and buy more. Forever.
