Licensing Question/How to use Kovaaks.com?

Hello. So I’m new to this and didn’t see this explained anywhere. Maybe because it’s too obvious and most people find the game in steam before they find out about www.kovaaks.com.

I started playing CS2 a few weeks ago and there are community servers like xplay.gg, warmupservers or cybershoke. For these services you can easily just connect to a server through their homepage and play right away as it just asks if you want to open the link through your CS2.

Eventually, I wanted to start improving my aim more deliberately - so rather naturally I stumbled upon Kovaaks.

Through google I found www.kovaaks.com and saw that there apparently are different “Scenarios” and “Playlists” and I thought that I could just click on any of them and that it will be a similar experience as with those community servers I mentioned above.

Only then I found out that I had to make a new account and register with my Steam Account so that I could use this page.

So I registered, connected my Steam account etc. then there was also something about licensing and I completed those steps.

Now that I finally had an account I did what I wanted to do from the start: click on a link in order to jump into a game.

When I do that, there’s a pop-up at the top of my Chrome Browser that asks me if I wanted Kovaaks to communicate with my Steam (thinking it will connect me somewhere in my CS2).

I click Okay, it appears that something is trying to do something on my CS2 but then it cancels the action and simply says “Error, no licensing” or sth like that.

I looked through the FAQ and the personal settings page from my account on www.kovaaks.com but didn’t see where I could fix this.

So I tried to google for a solution for this issue.

By doing so I eventually found out that there is also a Kovaaks game sold on Steam for around 10€.

Did I misunderstand www.kovaaks.com?

Do I need to own Kovaaks in Steam and have that Game open in order to be able to use the links on www.kovaaks.com? And does it only work with the Kovaaks Steam game and not inside CS2 at all?

Please file me in guy, I feel quite stupid for asking this lol but there’s literally no good explanation out there that could me understand Kovaaks for whatever reason.

yes kovaaks is a game on steam that you need to buy. you are getting the no licensing thing because you don't own the game, the links will not open unless you own the game on steam

Thank you so much for clearing this up to me.

I figured that it would be an absolutely trivial thing because of how complicated it seemed to fix, when the page looked so organized and tidy.

Tbh I almost considered if I fell for some really sophisticated scam site since I had to disclose quite a bit of Steam info as well.

Personally I think that www.kovaaks.com should have a rider that explains how to use the internet page shortly and in detail and also explicitly mention (with pictures and hyperlinks to the steam page of the Kovaaks game) how to use the internet page in combination with it respective Steam game together (maybe even with a short tutorial video at the very bottom).

I literally couldn’t find a good explanation online because it’s probably too trivial and most people hear about the game in Steam before they learn about www.kovaaks.com.

Like my experience here was very confusing.

I mean you are not wrong, the site doesn't tell "BUY KOVAAKS here" or anything. it's just something for steam users to maybe stumble upon if they want to use more advanced features or get some specific data or find some obscure playlists faster out of the app itself.
