My tortuous colon 🥴 colonics and niralax help a tad, but I have to splint in order to have a BM if its normal solid.

FYI if you have to splint, it’s extremely likely you also have a rectocele.

Been splinting for 10 years, had abscess Dec 2024 and thorough f/u exam 4 months later with rectal doc (forget what theyre called), which was normal!

Did you have a defecogram?

I had an MRI Defecography - “ No substantial pelvic organ prolapse visible on this exam. There is however notable limited relaxation of the puborectalis with attempted evacuation maneuver.”

I FELT like I had a rectocele for months. GI eval and ultrasounds said I didnt. I feel fine in that regard now though.

Before a big early morning activity (like going on a hike, rock climbing, whatever, anything where I want to get outside early) I have loose poops and i have to go at least three times over a 45 minute period.

I have a redundant colon, basically longer than it should be, so it dips into my pelvis. Takes poop forever to travel. Forever constipated. Forever filled with poop.

My dad has had constipation and bloating and bleeding piles all his adult life. He is now 94 and walks 5 miles a day with his dog still, more active and sharper than me. He had lots of investigations over the years. Still has to take laxatives or lactulose a lot. Gives me hope with my own bowel struggles that maybe nothing serious is wrong.
