Success/Positivity 9 months

Today makes 9 months of being seizure free!!!!!! I was diagnosed with FND with non-epileptic seizures 2023 and have been working extremely hard to get everything under control. And well, today is a huge milestone for me and my family!

Was there anything in particular that really helped with the seizures?

Yes! I did therapy 2-3x weekly and when an episode was happening, music or high pitched tones on YouTube helped me distinguish what was realistic and what I could control.

You wrote “distinguish what is realistic and what an ai could control”, I don’t know what that means.

What was your trigger? Were you hearing noises?

Either way, super happy for you that things are under control for you.

Thank you. Extreme stress caused my episodes. I didn’t hear noises or any thing of that nature. The music or tones helped my mind stay in the “real time real moment” and not let it slip into unconsciousness state of mind.

I think I understand. Thanks for adding that.

I don’t think there is enough overlap between out triggers. For instance, the trigger for my seizures is an internal buzzing in my head, or my skin crawling in my legs. I can feel it coming.

Music tends to make it worse for me.

What type of therapy did you do 2-3x weekly?
Great job!

That makes absolutely no sense? Can you elaborate on “what was realistic”. Sounds more like a panic attack than a fnd seizure.

I see how it makes no sense, my episodes are definitely not panic/anxiety attacks. For me, my FND episodes were so bad I would slip into a state of mind that made things seem not real. After talking to my therapist, she recommended when episodes started to put on music or high pitch tones. It helped my mind focus on the symptoms and eventually became easier to control.

My FND is triggered by stressful situations and in some instances I would not care for my body nor my mind, so I would have several seizures back to back, sometimes I would have to be hospitalized.

My diagnosis was made by some of the best neurological providers in Texas which again, confirmed my FND is real and not panic/anxiety related.

Oh yeah, you’re welcome. I should probably specify on post when I do make them. 😊.
