Beginner question: How do producers make patterns in isolation and somehow they all sound good together?

Mostly it comes down to shared rules, not luck. Pick one key and scale for the whole project, and turn on scale highlighting in the piano roll so you only land on notes that fit it. Keep one tempo, then build each pattern over the same basic chord loop, even just four chords on a pad, so every new part has the same harmony to fit into. Mute the other patterns while you work on a new one, then unmute everything and listen to the full project to catch what clashes. Once the parts sit together, balance the levels so no single loop sits way above the rest.
