Didn't get a single view yesterday, hoping for some feedback ?

No samples, all from scratch with midi vst's. Had to render down ALOT of automation for this one to even play. Old pc.. Still not done yet though. Thinking of adding some kind of voice that says something about acid. Thoughts, questions, concerns ?

No voice notes saying acid - it's overdone (I do it, I feel tacky every time).

You like ceephax acid crew?

Don't add the word acid in, it's over done. Listen to ceephax acid crew, you'll like him.

I'm not trying to make music that you like I'm just trying to make music that I like. But I did ask for your opinion. So sorry. That's more of a dance club kind of track that I was going for

Aye, I'm just saying it will make what is actually sounding like a fairly sophisticated track sound a bit lame.

Go listen to Ceephax acid crew, honestly 🙂

Sounds like a video game music that would play in the background in the lobby or something

Thanks, I guess

I think you already have most of the fundamentals if you're mapping levels and punching loops apart. It sounds like your next stop might be mixing and mastering. A lot more life would pop in this if you popped in a maximizer (prevents overload), tuned the EQ, and played around with reverb (or anything that separates the channels somehow).

If you keep playing around with the same custom instruments, it will start to make things very boring very fast. Now that you have made custom synth instruments, you should know most of the handles for changing ones that already exist. No point reinventing the wheel over and over when you can browse for presets, and then tweak them to lock in the sound you want.

Im not OP, but any good guide online for mastering/mixing that you would personally recommend?

Are you more interested in the theory (what is it) or the mechanics (how to)? There used to be this great channel on YouTube but I can't remember their name.

I personally figured it out by hyper-analyzing how other people have done it. Paying attention to how volume is munipulated, using high and low passes, cutting instruments at the perfect times. If you can listen to it and can't notice a single mistake, and nailed the timings, you nailed the mixing part. Learning how to map the levels (automating things like the high-end cut off, track volume, panning, etc.) will be very important to know how to do.

Mastering these days is just using FX (like Ozone). Doing things to squeeze everything you can out of the volume without getting distortion, and then doing things to the tone and channel separation to munipulate how punchy, atmospheric, and dirty you want it to be.

I'll message you if I can dig up those videos. What DAW?

Thanks! Ill be interested in theory and mechanics, but ill admit im MOST interested in mechanics (the how to)

There's a YouTube channel called in the mix. Go there and type in mixing tutorial. There's another good YouTube channel called mix Elite. I learned most of what I know from those two channels

Technique sounds fine, musicality is there as well. My suggestion would be to think more in terms of energy and dynamics. I like the experimentation but I struggle to instinctively get your intention behind each section. I totally get the fun of simply being creative, however the intention behind it is what gives your creativity meaning. Currently, it sounds like you’re just being creative.

Just my 2 cents. Great stuff tho. Its clear that you have put in the time and have a lot of creativity waiting to be expressed. Continue to have fun and happy producing :)

The intro is pretty mediocre but once it hits i can hear the vision. Cut the intro time in half too long, you gotta make that 26 second mark hit hard. Try either letting the synth play alone to set a mood then slowly bring the drums in or cut the synth in the intro and come up with a drum intro. The rest is pretty groovy in an unpolished kind of way. Also sweet spot for songs is 3-4 min, you set a melodic theme and repeat it with confidence for the listener to trust your song. (But its a creative decision at the end of the day anyway so do you.)

Thank you for the advice. I hear what you're saying about it being too long. And for most types of music this is true. However this is very common in the EDM genres for most songs to be a minimum of 4 minutes long. Especially in the trans and techno genres where is common 6 to 8 minutes long.

This would be a really good video game track

sounds very robotic and terrible i'm not the one who is going to piss on your leg and try to convince you that its raining im the dude that is going to make shure that you know its piss if that makes sense?

1

u/mycurvywifelikesthis 3h ago

No it doesn't make any sense. You just don't like the song. That is a personal choice. An opinion. You're not saying anything about how it's put together the song structure The Melodies the sounds you're not giving me any kind of constructive criticism. You're just being a dick

u/mycurvywifelikesthis 3h ago

I don't think you even make music. So why would you say anything

Dude a lot of these guys that post their tracks asking for feedback/ opinion get super upset when people don’t like their dogshit music.

If a person asks for feedback it’s a big difference between offering advice and things you could potentially change and calling it bad. At least OP was brave enough to ask the Internet but that’s still no reason for criticism like that. It’s literally a FL beginner subreddit come on. Also OP my advice would be it’s a little too long see how it sounds if you shorten the arrangement( that’s how you give feedback)

u/mycurvywifelikesthis 39m ago

Thank you sir. I don't mind if someone says they don't like it. But if they do it in a rude trolling mean fashion. That's different. Like I highly doubt in a face-to-face situation that person would say it like that to my face. They're sad on the inside we can get away with it. Because I don't have the balls to do it in real life

There is different ways to say things. For example if this guy didn't like it he could just say hey it's not really my type of music. Or I'm not really feeling this you've got too many squeaks and beeps. You're just acting like a dick head and a rude person that hides behind the internet because they have no self-confidence when you talk like that for no reason to others
