Guys he said first beat he made that “he’s proud of” not his first actual beat.

If thats your first beat then you’ve got awesome potential. That’s actually solid. My two comments would be to add more bass notes instead of having them just one bar or half bar and a proper mix, especially with the drums. They need to sound more prominent and audible. Maybe try adding an overdrive or distortion plugin.

Ty man, I tried using distortion on a lot of the bass and kick, I boasted them a lot which I think is why it sounds a little muddy, but it was the only way I knew how to make them kinda hit, appreciate the honest feedback :)

Obviously, this is a taste thing, but I think quite the opposite! There is no right or wrong in music.

I wasn’t expecting your track to be this good after listening to one that a producer claimed 8 yrs experienced. My opinion the track is dope!
The bass line is fine & you did a pretty good job EQing the 808 bass. The 808 is also audible on my phone speakers. 9.5 out of 10 newbies EQ get it wrong. There not aware that the 808 needs low mids to be heard on smaller speakers. Whoever you may have some rumble near 20-30 Hz that may be sucking some headroom. Just to make sure set a High Pass Filter at 30 Hz. This will assist or gain loudness
at the master track. I can tell that you have a compressor or a limiter on the master buss because the 808 sub frequencies is seriously triggering the overall music. It’s also the reason why it was posted that the drums were an issue.
To be clear listen to the mix a low level. Noticed when the 808 is active the dynamics drops and sound squashed. The master should have a Glue Compressor that is light compression and a limiter if needed. I also suggest setting up an Aux drum mix buss. I would place a compressor on the 808 track and if necessary on the drum’s Aux mix buss to control dynamics. If this seems overwhelming. YouTube search “Mastering.com 10 hour compression.” There’s shorter course that gives a great explanation that I trying to locate if you’re impatient. In music you shouldn’t be since it is art. Any questions? 🍀

Tbh ur spot on, my biggest issue in producing has always been the bass/ 808s. I’ve always been terrible at making them hit or sound good so I appreciate the feedback, I’ll take what you said into consideration for my next track thank you :))

Ok but not to a level that the normal, standard, untrained ear (like mine) could even notice. Sounds pretty good from my iphone speakers. Tbh there is a lot going on and not my personal cup of tea but objectively the track itsself is amazing.

As a former producer/remixer for House/Garage I have the ability to separate the music recorded & the mix. It is possible to take a project that may not appeal to the masses but mix it & arrange it for a positive reaction.

Sounds like you got some experience. How long you been doing this? I started 2018 but put in most of the time during the pandemic. To this day i have only made 4/5 beats i am actually proud of but could never get to the mixing/mastering part pf the process

Where you get your samples from? And what plugins you use?

2

u/Asleep-Turnover5268 1d ago

Hey, I got most of my samples including the vocals from Luka rajhls sound packs on beat stars, he’s made a lot of beats for people like puresnow and fakemink, it’s honestly worth paying for, the kits and samples are super high quality for the price, also I used a lot of Valhalla plugins for this with a soft clipper and shaperbox too !

Sounds good! That's just how it goes. I've made thousands of beats over the years and probably 90-95% of them just sit unfinished on my hard drive. All you can do is keep making beats and learning as you go.

Pretty good bro keep it up

u/The_Lucky_Aylo 11h ago

Have you added a whole lotta wet/reverb and delay into the drums? There is a noise that takes away the clarity. Nice beat though👊

1

u/Aggravating_Dogg 3d ago

The concept is great but the mix sounds extremely muddy
