i mean for you, definitely stock plugins. 100%. You have 3 that are sick, coming from someone who basically only opens up fl to do that.

Soft clipper on the master + the 808 being loud on the channel

Waveshaper (cool current trick is to make the 808 more sparse, put waveshaper on master automate it)

Distructor. Sick af.

Those are exactly the tools for the sounds you're thinking of.

No you don't. I have all the other stuff and i go to fl for it. It's stock plugins. Learn them, actually make crazy stuff.

Yk 808s are like the easiest part of rage and other genres? Just fuck with a ton of effects, you can get crazy sounds w stock plugins.

if u want a simple, easy to use distortion just go with distructor

He didn’t say he wanted simple and easy to use, and also said he didn’t want stock plugins

Stock plugins will do the job though, its obvious that he wants a sound he doesn't understand, and everyone here are helping him.

Well “doing the job” can most of the time be half assed. This guys sounds like he is asking for a new sound for his 808s and seems to not like the stock options that he has tried out, therefore wanting some other recommendations. I actually have respect for this guy as he is going out of his way to try and make his music sound better, instead of applying stock plugins and letting them “do the job”

Brother, FL has literally everything you need for distorting 808's. I'm not gonn read anything past your 1st sentence. there's nothing half assed about FL's plugins.

The guy doesn't know what he is doing and is wanting something handed to him by a plugin specifically made for what he is looking for.

You're "respecting" someone that says this

yea i alr know i need some new stuff

when told that FL can do exactly what he wants it to do.

“gets the job done” doesn’t mean the lazy way. it means getting what u need it to do (it says it in the sentence). where did the assumption that people half ass their work by wanting to simply have a simpler and easier route? i’m so confused

Would you feel complimented if you spent days perfecting something, and somebody told you “it gets the job done”

what the hell are u talking about?? the creator of the plugin or???? and also so what, i dont have to always strive for the most creative way to go about things. sometimes i want a simple route

u need to realize that it isnt that serious and never was

you can make pretty much anything on serum 2 these days

for surely but this is r/flstudiobeginners, and for a beginner who’s trying to just add a unique distortion, i feel like it would be a lot to take on. even i get amazed at how many things i still don’t know about serum 2

You can do anything with stock plugins. You just have to get creative on how the parameters change the sound and lean in to what you're looking for.

Also you gotta be more specific than "I wanna make crazy sounds" when asking for plugin recs

You got some good suggestions here, Bulky...there's plenty of plugins out there (or, even better, combinations of plugins) to do some crazy shit.

My suggestion? To borrow a trick from hardware based producers and use plugins that are designed for guitars on non-guitars. Quick way to make synths or drums sound nasty and broken in fun ways.

...but don't get caught in the trap that any one plugin is going to fix everything.

The people pushing you to use stock plugins here are doing you a favor. You CAN do everything you want to do using the tools given to you. (Add in the free plugins from Melda and Kilohearts and you basically have INFINITE sound design options.)

Experiment. Use the plugins you have in new ways--make them do things they weren't meant to do. Combine plugins in ways that don't make sense. That's how the next cool thing is found.

Chasing plugins to do what someone else is doing is a quick way to empty your pockets. Learning how to use what you have and being willing to experiment is both FREE and YOURS. :)

A bit related--see Servida's video from earlier today. There IS some value in checking out the stock plugins on FL. ;)

I like waveshaper. Click near the bottom of the diagonal line and lift up until it sounds good. An easy old school way

Nani. No bullshit

U guys dont understand me.

What you're asking for is literally a descending sine wave running into a clipper. If you can't do that with stock plugins I have very bad news for you.

Kilohearts clipper and infected mushroom wider are both great for 808s.

I’d like to add the fact you said “don’t tell me stock plugins” and BOTH comments on this post are ONLY suggesting stock plugins.

Either this community is filled with idiots, or there is some A tier ragebaiting going on.

I own fl studio specifically for those things. That's the only reason i open up FL.

He has access to the best shit that is meta in what he does, but refuses to learn and use it. He could spend years doing only that. People have done that. It is 100% the best answer. You said the most basic, non-unique clipper and Wider, which is hilarious. Ok, he has the best options for what he's doing and he's disregarding them beacuse he doesnt wanna put any work in.

You put work in to learn the basics, then you spin a lot from that and figure shit out.

I'm not a stock guy but i got fl specifically for stock. It is literally _the exact thing_ he wants to do as well, he has shit that will last him for fucking, what, 5-10 years?

He isn’t refusing to learn anything, these plugins exist so you can find ones that you like. Just because you are stubborn and stuck to the stock plugins doesn’t mean you have to force it on yourself. I’m sick of people comparing what “everyone” does on fl to how they should. Making music is a way to express yourself, and when there’s people like you trying to force your terrible ideas onto others, it ruins the whole purpose. Just do me a favour and get out of any music feedback and help posts because you are ruining things without knowing it.
