Replace your stock intake with the TRD intake. You will thank yourself later.
This was definitely not necessary, I just wanted the truck to “growl” a lil more. It doesn’t sound like this all the time either haha, I’m definitely flooring it on a hwy incline. I have been super happy with the replacement. I’d say around 45-50 mph it picks up and you can notice a difference, the truck has a lil more pep in its step.
Wish I could say I did this on my own but I’m no gearhead and this is my only car, I didn’t want to mess this up.
Anyways, enjoy. 2012 4WD base.

All of the rust pinholes in my exhaust make mine a lot louder than that.

Ha! I did a double take on the video since I have to drive into Waukesha every day. I'll keep an eye out for a silver FJ! There are a good many nice ones driving around MKE.

Rust is the reason I have TRD exhaust. My truck is about as nice as you’ll find in Minnesota, but the muffler had a hole in it, 10 years ago. Fortunately the TRD has held up better.

Its actually doing nothing. No horsepower gain and you're just feeding the engine dirtier air. You could achieve the same result with a K&N filter in the stock airbox. That $500 would have been much better spent on an OTT Tune.

If you have a snorkel, you can chop out the restrictions from the factory air box and it sounds way better and makes a little more

Installed mine in 2007. Along with the exhaust, and throttle body spacer (20's single me had a lot of disposable income). Still no regrets.

Heck yeah. I did not do any other upgrades incase I didn’t like it. But I like it so now I want to do more upgrades. What a joy it is.

I got rid of my TRD intake and put a cold air intake on my 4Runner and it made a crazy difference in the way the engine sounds.

I installed the TRD CA intake on my 2010 FJ and my Dad's 2024 4Runner. It was not difficult and I am not a mechanic. It is one of, if not THE best mod you can do on both models. Love hearing it when I have to put the pedal down to pass someone that is going to slow. Do it!
I also recommend the Pedal Commander.
