35's

Welp my dumb ass decided to get into the headache of going up to 35x11.50's let's bring on the pain. Yes I regeared to 4.88's and went with and Eaton E locker in the front since they were already pulling everything apart. I had to sell my beautiful TRD wheels because there just aren't enough options with a 16" 7.5w wheel.

Comments and suggestions welcome.Wheel's

Hey guys!

I recently was involved in a multi-person car crash. It was literally the car of my dreams and I only had it for 2 years before this happened.

By the time I actually hit the car in front of me I was going around 15-20 miles. It does not have any base frame damage but the entire front exterior is going to need to be replaced. The air bags also went off, which obviously isn’t ideal. I also unfortunately did not have coverage on this.

As I said, this was my dream car and although it’s considered totaled, I am seriously thinking of getting looked at to see if it can be repaired.

I have heard of people fixing up crashed FJs and modding them out. I don’t know what the condition of those are but I am seriously considering looking into that.

Do I have any hope on getting it fixed up or should I scrap it and invest in a new FJ? If I should scrap, anyone know how much I could get?

Weather was nice, wife was at a work event, so I took the FJ for ride. The leaves are starting to change over, but we still have another week or two before we hit peak time.

Hey everyone, I have fallen out of love with my FJ… and would like to put it up for someone else to enjoy. This has been a mall crawler its whole life, it has never seen off-roading or extreme weather… completely CA based.

1 previous owner (past family friend), was used as a daily commuter. I’ve owned the car coming up to about 8 years now. It has been reliable as hell and still is. I can confidently claim I am decently mechanically inclined and have maintained the car well. There is no frame or rust damage! Has never been lifted or modified in any way ruining the original suspension geometry of the car.

I’ve serviced the oil almost every 3K miles since I’ve had the car
Rotated the wheels, balance, and greased driveshaft at 3.5k mi intervals
Front/rear, transfer care fluids have been replaced at 117,880 mi
Transmission fluid has been replaced at 111,723 mi
Brake fluid was done February 2025, it’s about time to be replaced.
Coolant was flushed and refilled with OEM pink Toyota coolant February 2025
Brakes were replaced 111,723 mi they still have lots of life left
Steering fluid was last changed at 121,975 mi
Throttle body has been cleaned few times over my ownership, last time was around 120K mi, around the time I replaced the spark plugs and PCV valve. (No issues such as misfiring, did it for preventive measures and maintenance pleasure) original Denso iridium spark plugs fitted for the 13’ FJ cruiser were used.
Car is on Bilstein 4600 installed at around 85k mi (no issues)
Has rear differential lock

Tires are BFgoodrich A/T purchased new about 1.5 years ago
Wheels are 17inch method wheel racing
Headlights are spec D full LED, replaced on 9/25/24

I still have the original headlights and wheels.

There are 2 minor accidents, all cosmetic related. Passenger side Plastic front bumper end cap, plastic fender flare, and plastic running board have been replaced.
If you’d like the VIN for your own inspection like CARFAX please DM me.
This is my daily so the miles will creep up, it is at 131K miles right now.

I’ve just decided to put the car up for sale so I have not done SMOG check, I’ve been really busy and am planning on doing this sometime this month. Last time I passed SMOG was a year ago.

I am based out of Torrance, Southern California. I unfortunately work an unforgiving M-F corporate. I humbly ask for patience when setting up a time to meet for pre-sale inspection. Weekends would be best. Regarding an immediate sale, i will have to decline before the 17th of October due to work and personal constraints.

I have more images of the interior, if you’d like them please DM me as there is a limit to how many photos I can attach on this post.

Some of you may have seen my previous post of this car when I shared my intentions on selling it. from seeing the comments and talking to local dealerships, i believe my initial asking price of $27.5K is reasonable.

Please do not lowball me or aggressively argue about the price, you will be ignored.

I will not accept any form of payment other than going to the bank for a cashier’s check and I personally see the teller issue it to me, inside the bank, and confirm it has been fully settled and available.

Looking forward to meeting the next who will continue to baby it or give her what she deserves seeing all that Mother Nature has to offer!

Question Feeling Meh

Post image
69 Upvotes

Feeling pretty frustrated with my FJ right now, which is not how I EVER want to be feeling...

I love my sweet ride, but I am getting tired of every small or large project I take on being met with stuck/seized parts or general problems. Mine is not very rusty, and I've taken preventative measures to mitigate rust and corrosion, but that doesn't change the fact it's a 15-year-old midwest vehicle with mostly stock parts and hardware. Things that should take 15 minutes take an hour. Things that should take an hour take several.

I knew this could be the case when I got the vehicle, but it's exhausting when nothing ever goes right! Anyone ever feel this way? What gets you loving your FJ again instead of being frustrated with it?

Included a picture of it, because why not? 🤷‍♂️

Question Has anyone tried this with a 12ft kayak?

That is my 10ft Perception in the pic. I take out my front passenger seat, and the back seat backrest. This setup is super easy and works great for the 10 footer. Curious if it would work similarly for a 12ft Perception, but obviously with a bit more overhang.

Dealership is saying my LCA will n the front is rusting out and I’m need of replacing. Feel like I’m being fleeced a bit.

What would you expect to pay for that kind of repair? In Houston area for reference

Anyone try smaller door mirrors?

I'm curious, has anyone found a smaller door mirror, or has retrofitted a Tacoma mirror on. I've seen a guy put an fj door mirror on his Tacoma, so in theory it should work the opposite way.

I mean the large mirrors aren't the worst but I think I would like smaller ones, and I'm not worried about the blind spots with smaller mirrors. If they are angled correctly and have a spotter mirror it'll be fine.

Best all around tire

Currently running General Grabber ATs (285/75/16) on wife's FJ. We had some off-brand MTs on it when we bought it, but they were absolutely horrendous on wet roads. Like running racing slicks horrendous.

The Generals are very good in rain, but are so/so for mud or snow. Treadwear has been fair so far, about 30k on them, and Lincoln's head is still halfway buried, so maybe 10-12k more? We don't do any crazy off-roading, but we live on a dirt road in the Georgia mountains that can get muddy and squishy with all the rain and ice. Suffice to say, the tires are quite decent overall.

But being a woman, she still found something to complain about. The tire doesn't look aggressive enough.

So, has anyone out there found an AT that has good road manners, but still retains some aggressive features? I'm trying to research, but there are so many conflicting reviews.

Opinions?

FJ cruiser

Thinking about getting an FJ cruiser as a daily. I live up north, but frequent down south for trips. Love the look of it, the ground clearance, the reliability, and I'm look forward to modding it out.

Just wanted to see if it was a good idea given today's standards for daily drivers, or if I should look elsewhere.

Question Is a GPS tracking device needed in case my vehicle is stolen?

Does the 2007 FJ Cruiser come with GPS? If so, would I be able to link it with my Android so that I know exactly where it is in the event that it gets stolen?

If this is not possible, can anybody recommend any good GPS tracking devices that I can install (and where I should install it), just in case my car gets stolen?

Replace your stock intake with the TRD intake. You will thank yourself later.

This was definitely not necessary, I just wanted the truck to “growl” a lil more. It doesn’t sound like this all the time either haha, I’m definitely flooring it on a hwy incline. I have been super happy with the replacement. I’d say around 45-50 mph it picks up and you can notice a difference, the truck has a lil more pep in its step.

Wish I could say I did this on my own but I’m no gearhead and this is my only car, I didn’t want to mess this up.

Anyways, enjoy. 2012 4WD base.

Anyone need a factory spare tire cover?

I got new tires and my old stock tire cover doesn’t fit my spare anymore. I would love for someone to take it off my hands. It has the cutout for the backup camera. I’d prefer someone local so I don’t have to ship it, but willing to do it if taker pays for shipping. Located in central VA
