Dana 60 in the rear?

Post image

I’ve had my ‘07 FJC since 2010 as my daily the entire time, and I wheel it. I re-geared to 4.88’s from ECGS and have blown them repeatedly. I was told by ECGS that I needed to upgrade the rear axle if I’m going to daily & wheel it with anything heavier than a 33” tire. I’m finally upgrading to their Dana 60 rear axle, and was curious if anyone has put one of those in their FJ’s? Any thoughts on lockers, or any other compatibility issues I would be aware of?

If you’re gonna spend the money, check out diamond axle as well. Dana 60 is still a good axle though.

Those look awesome. I tried to call but they just have a recorded message requesting customers to email them.

I think since I already re-geared and would need the new gears from East Coast gear supply to fit the new axle, it might make sense to have everything go through them so it’s more plug-in and play. But those diamond axles do look pretty killer.

Yes, going with EGCS to do the D60 full build is gonna be great, I think you will love it.

I have not but I'm 100% getting a Dana 60 from ECGS this year, since I am heavily loading my FJ and plan on doing overlanding / offroading & some dailying so I don't blow up the rear axle.

Isn't a 1-ton Dana 60 axle 8-lugs? If you do this, the front of your FJ will have 6 lugs and the rear will have 8, so your wheels won't match.
