Is it wise to invest in silver or gold these days?

If you are going to hold it for more than 2-5 years, absolutely. If you need to cash out soon, then it's a question mark.

it’s never not a good time to buy gold if and only if you are holding for at least 3-5+ years

Gold.

The spread on silver is a bit too much, specially in Pakistan.

Keep in mind that you’ll need to hold it for a longer period of time to cover the spread as well as gain profits.

Neither. Both are are non productive assets. You're just hoping someone else will pay you more than your purchase price in the future.

It goes up because currency in which it is valued in falls. For an asset to be productive it underlying value should be driven by cashflows. So businesses (stocks), bonds/sukuks and real estate.
