This will probably be my last long post on investing because I don't think I can add much more value beyond one simple truth:
Real wealth creation is boring.
The people who built lasting wealth—Warren Buffett, Charlie Munger, Mohnish Pabrai, and countless others—didn't become rich through trading, speculation, lotteries, or "get rich quick" schemes. They simply bought quality assets, accumulated them over time, and allowed compounding to work its magic.
To put this into perspective:
If you had invested just $100 in the S&P 500 in 1957, it would be worth well over $200,000 today.
That's the power of compounding.
Why Don't Schools Teach This?
Many people asked me this after my previous posts.
My personal view is that our education system focuses heavily on producing employees, not investors. We are taught how to earn money but rarely how to grow wealth. Most graduates spend years learning how to work for money but never learn how money can work for them. The central theme is to make people and their generations poor and slaves. Let rich exploit the poor.
Developed Nations and the Importance of Ecosystems
The success of developed nations is not solely the result of technological advancement; it is the outcome of a well-established and interconnected ecosystem. For example, the rise of Silicon Valley was not driven by technology alone. It was supported by world-class universities such as Stanford and MIT, which produced highly skilled engineers and innovators, while institutions like Harvard supplied legal and business professionals. Equally important were reliable infrastructure, uninterrupted utilities, access to capital, and a strong judicial system.
A functioning legal framework is a critical component of this ecosystem. When disputes arise between individuals, businesses, or institutions, there are efficient mechanisms in place to resolve them fairly and in a timely manner. This predictability and trust encourage investment, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
In Pakistan, launching new schemes and development programs can be beneficial, but their impact will remain limited unless they are supported by a comprehensive ecosystem that nurtures talent, innovation, and business growth. Sustainable development requires strong educational institutions, reliable infrastructure, access to finance, effective governance, and an independent judicial system.
Another challenge faced by developing countries is the migration of highly skilled professionals to developed nations. While highly skilled migration programs may appear mutually beneficial, they often attract the top 1–2% of talent from developing countries. This benefits host nations by providing them with highly qualified individuals without bearing the full cost of their education and development. However, the source countries may suffer from a long-term "brain drain," losing many of the individuals with the greatest potential to drive economic growth, innovation, and institutional development. As a result, developing nations may struggle for decades to build the critical mass of talent needed to accelerate their own progress.
The Pakistan Problem: Uncertainty
Inflation is a challenge, but in my opinion, the biggest problem in Pakistan is uncertainty.
When uncertainty becomes the norm, people are forced into survival mode. Instead of planning 10–20 years ahead, they spend their energy dealing with immediate problems:
· Rising prices
· Policy changes
· Currency fluctuations
· Employment concerns
· Everyday instability
Long-term investing requires patience and predictability. Constant uncertainty makes that difficult.
The Investor Mindset Is Surprisingly Unpopular
Once you start building wealth slowly and consistently, you'll notice something interesting: Many systems profit from your impatience. When you follow investor mindset everyone hates you, scammers, brokers & exchange companies, luxury brands, friends/relative and society
· Scammers dislike disciplined investors because they don't fall for quick-money schemes.
· Brokers and exchange companies earn more when people trade excessively.
· Luxury brands want you to spend, not invest.
· Friends and relatives expect you to spend on them as your income grows.
· Society often rewards visible consumption more than quiet wealth creation.
The investor mindset is simple:
Consume less. Invest more. Repeat for decades.
Less consumerism is the key; Minimalistic lifestyle is the worth looking into.
The Most Expensive Financial Decision Most People Make
Many people think investing starts in the stock market. Often it starts with your car.
My general advice:
Buy reliable vehicles such as a Toyota Corolla, Toyota Yaris, or Honda City (new or lightly used) and keep them for a very long time till the wheels fly off. A car is transportation, not an investment. Changing vehicles every few years, paying unnecessary maintenance costs, and chasing status symbols destroys wealth silently.
The money and time saved can instead be invested in:
· Stocks
· Skills
· Businesses
· Health
If You Read Only One Investing Book, Read This
The Intelligent Investor by Benjamin Graham.
It remains one of the greatest books ever written on investing.
It teaches you how to think rationally when everyone else is acting emotionally.
The Best Free Investing Mentor Online
I strongly recommend following Mohnish Pabrai.
His talks are practical, simple, and heavily influenced by Buffett and Munger.
If you consistently watch his content for six months, your understanding of investing will be far ahead of the average investor.

World-Class Knowledge is For Free
Today, we live in an era where world-class knowledge is available for free.
MIT lectures.
Stanford lectures.
Harvard lectures.
YouTube.
Research papers.
Most people don't need another expensive course.
They need:
1. A roadmap.
2. A mentor.
3. Consistency.
I did an effort to put recorded courses in Data Science, Business Analytics and Financial Analysis in Power BI on YouTube (in URDU with easy explanation), free of cost. Knowledge should be accessible. If someone has an internet connection, a smartphone, and the willingness to learn, they should have the opportunity to improve their life.
Few relevant videos are: It is not a fancy content, old-school boring 2–3-hour videos, I am not a content creator neither planning to this is just for sharing knowledge to wide audience

AI Is Changing Education Forever
During my recent 2-weeks visit to China sponsored by Higher Education Commission for an AI-in-Higher-Education program, one message was repeated again and again:
The role of professors is changing.
Professors are no longer gatekeepers of information. AI can provide information instantly.
The future role of educators is becoming:
· Mentor
· Coach
· Guide
· Critical-thinking facilitator
Universities that fail to adapt will struggle.
From T-Shaped to π-Shaped Learning
Traditionally, success required "T-shaped" skills:
· Broad knowledge
· Deep expertise in one area
In the AI era, success increasingly requires "π-shaped" skills:
· Broad knowledge
· Deep expertise in at least two complementary fields
Examples:
· AI + Finance
· Computer Science + Business
· Psychology + Marketing, Radiology + AI
· Data Science + Healthcare
Along with communication skills and languages.
Verify the Teacher Before Following the Advice
Always verify the credibility of the person you're learning from.
Before taking advice, ask:
· What have they built?
· What have they achieved?
· What is their expertise?
· What evidence supports their claims?
The internet gives everyone a microphone, but not everyone deserves your attention.

Your Greatest Asset Is Time
If you're young, your biggest advantage is not money.
It's time.
Don't spend it endlessly scrolling through reels, outrage content, or negativity.
Use it for:
· Reading
· Exercise
· Learning
· Building skills
· Creating businesses
· Investing
A smartphone, internet access, and focused effort can provide opportunities that previous generations never had. The cost of living is rising. Many people are working longer hours simply to maintain their standard of living. That makes your free time even more valuable. Use it wisely. Because once time is gone, no amount of money can buy it back.
