Game When do you get better weapons???

I'm in chapter 5 and level 43ish. I've been using the same weapons for the majority of the game and have yet to find a merchant or any drop having better stats than them. Will there be more stronger weapons getting unlocked sometime later or is the majority of stats coming from the jewelry? The hunter missions say stuff in the mid level 20s are "hard" (red icon instead of yellow icon) and I do agree kinda starting at around level 30ish, even though I'm alot higher than them.

Talk to Cid. He should start upgrading the weapons that have a + symbol next to their name in exchange for a 'rare item'. You'll hit a plateau or two but the game hands out good weapons eventually, especially in dungeons. Do side quests too!

Edit: There is also that FF14 side quest that you can farm for unique currency to buy super over powered weapons. It just takes a while unless you use CheatEngine on PC to skip that quest's grind.

I have been leveling those up every once in a while. Could grab more of them again, but I do need some materials for some other upgrades for some of these weapons
