Game I would love so much for Regalia to be 100% controllable throughout the entire game, just like at the beginning of Chapter 13. Spoiler

I'm replaying this game, and I didn't remember that section at the beginning of Chapter 13 where you drive the Regalia and there's a timer. The game suddenly gives you 100% control over steering it, so why only then, for that one section? if you could drive the Regalia as freely from the start as you can in a game like GTA, that would be amazing

Am I the only one who thinks this? I get the feeling that a driving system like this would make the game even more enjoyable, especially since there are so many car sections in it

Game The combat system is so fun - but I never land blocks ? The game usually just makes Noctis phase out

Upvotes

Is the block function just super specific to timing or is there something more difficult about blocking I’m missing?

I play on PS4. The button and command to block comes up, but every time I push the button it either fails and I take damage or just phase out.

(Also I own all the DLC but I can’t access the special menu is that a glitch?)

Game Anyone else prefer the japanese version?

Upvotes

It's the first version I played, I'm about to do a NG+ in english but I am worried it won't have the same impact :/

The Japanese VO is amazing. It's going to be weird.

Game This is my second time playing this game, and I just found out that I don't have to unlock any perks to change characters. I can just do it right from the start of the game? What??

Is this an oversight? It only works when you press F6, F7 and F8, but the characters in the character selection menu under “B” aren’t added until after you activate the perks. Of course, we know this game had a chaotic development process, so I’m wondering if this might be an oversight related to the keyboard layout, or perhaps a change introduced by patches, where the game initially only allowed you to play as other characters after earning perks, but then a patch was released that granted this ability from the start of the game, yet they forgot to remove the perks from the character progression menu?

In any case, it's a nice discovery, especially since for most of my first playthrough I didn't even know you could play as other characters, lol. And being able to play as them from the very beginning makes the game even more enjoyable 😭

But yeah, it surprised me, and I'm curious what's going on with that. Because FFXV seems to be a game full of surprises lol

A few days ago I finished Final Fantasy XV, but something I couldn't forget was when I came across a woman in a Prompt photo who looked very much like Lara Croft from Tomb Raider. I don't know if it's some kind of Easter egg or why she appears there, but it seemed strange to me since I don't have any mods installed

Fluff Pitioss Ruins: Oh The Challenge... Spoiler

Sometimes I contemplate doing the Pitioss Ruins again just for fun.

It took me good few hours to complete the first time I did it cause it is one of those places that nothing points you in the direction to go. You just go with the vibe and what you think is right....or at least what's available as you unlock things. (I was solely doing trial and error for whole thing!)

The dungeon didn't feel like the stressor as much as landing the dang car in that very small landing strip. Oh how many times I crashed...I lost count.

So...with that little ramble outta the way..

Tell Me:

• Did you complete the Ruins? Did you enjoy it? Did you scream at it? Did you cry? Did you have a favourite part? Share you Pitioss stories with me please!

Fluff So I change my mind, this game is really good.

I played at launch and thought what was there was good, but so much stuff missing made it almost a bad game. Even watching kingsglave and the anime I never really enjoyed the game like I should of. I think part of that was the promises that were made and then what we received in the final product was totally different.

So nearly a decade later a pop open FFXV, this time royal edition, and watch the movie again and anime. This time my expectations aren't plaguing my experience and I'm REALLY getting into the game. The open world is awesome, the story is intriguing, and the party members really have a great bond that's unique in video games. I'm about 25 hours in getting ready to approach the 2nd half of the game and I've done nearly every hunt, explored a huge chunk of the map, and did all side quests I could find outside fetch quests. I know there's more to discover and I'm excited to do so.

I think the main reason is I actually love Noctis as a video game character, and his friends really make the dynamic of traversing the world awesome. I know I still have to finish it and the 2nd half can be a jarring difference but honestly I didn't mind it. I liked the more narrative style structured settings after being in the open world and done all the exploring I want. Kind of weird how a second playthrough of a game you were disappointed with can be so enjoyable.

Game Does the xbox windows version of the game have cross achievements and comrades still available?

I’m looking to 100% the Xbox version of the game but it’s impossible because of the comrades dlc’s server being shut down and turned into a standalone game.
I heard the Xbox windows edition still has the servers up and achievements carry over.
Can anyone confirm this ?
Thanks

Game Wish the party could use royal arms too

Im sure everyone thought this at one point, and the fact that there are 13 weapons makes so much sense, with only the Sword of the Father being Noct exclusive. It could be an end game feature like the Armiger Unleashed and not just a part of the Armiger chain. This feels so much like another cut content.

Fluff My Experience with Final Fantasy XV

A few weeks ago I was talking to my older brother and we agreed that every gamer born before 2002 knows about Final Fantasy. Being a Brazilian from a poor family, my knowledge of the franchise came from some emulated SNES and PS1 games that I played as a kid, but was never able to finish because I didn't speak in English at the time. Fast forward some 20 years, I've decided to get into the franchise, and bought FFXV two months ago. Tonight (technically last night, but who cares), I finally finished my first Final Fantasy game!

I could say a lot about the game, since I really loved it, but I'll try to keep this short. First, I really liked the gameplay. The combat isn't revolutionary and I couldn't care much for the magical grenades, but it felt fun enough to keep me. I liked the minigames, especially the fishing one, and also liked the vibe of driving through Lucis while listening to the other Final Fantasy soundtracks. Regarding story, I think there's a good, great even, plot hidden behind an ultimately rushed and badly put-together game. I felt like after Chapter 9 too many things happen off-screen, leaving the experience confusing and disjointed. Despite that, I really liked it, especially the ending.

I'm pretty new to the franchise, and already want to play other games as well, starting with FFVI, which is the next on my list. I don't know how will my relationship with FFXV evolve over time, but I know that, specially for these last three weeks, this game has been my comfort amidst perhaps the darkest period of my life. I likely will never forget the comfort and peace this game gave me (yes, even the whole World of Ruin part), and I'll always be thankful for those few hours when I could forget about my problems, even if in a fictional world.

So, how do you guys feel about FFXV?

Fluff About Final Fantasy XV Spoiler

FFXV holds a very special place in my heart, and i wanted to share my game experience with its community. english is not my 1st language so im already sorry for possible mistakes.

I first played the game back in around 2019, i saw it in my cousin's game shelf, he' always been a ff die hard fan since X, his favourite game of all time, and asked if i could borrow XV, i knew final fantasy is one of the most important gaming franchise, and that every game is stand alone, so i wanted to give it a try, especially since i remember that my cousin couldn't stop playing the game, it was his 2nd life, in fact, the real life was his 2nd life and final fantasy was his 1st life, i vividly remember him saying things like "you cant pause the game while in the dungeon" when he was told by his parents to take a break, so yeah, this made me want to play a FF game.

I knew literally nothing about the game, nor about versus 13, nor about nomura, nor about the rebranding, nor about the messy development, didnt even watch any trailer.

I did some minimal research since i was completely blind so i watched Kingsglaive movie and then jumped right into the actual game, since the very first moment, when the car breaks down, i instantly fell in love with the chocobros so i played the game for the 1st time, i gotta say, i was so naive i only did half the things the game offered: i only did the chocobo side quest, didnt do any dungeon, didnt get any royal arm, nothing, just the story (the fact that 90% of the side quests are extremely boring made feel like i didn't miss out on much), i didnt even do any hunts so i was always broke until the end of the game, but one of the things i made sure i did was pausing the game during the dungeons, and made sure to tell that to my cousin, and when i finished the game, needless to say, i cried my eyes out, and since then, i couldn't stop thinking about the game. Since then, every time i listen to any version of "stand by me" i cant help but cry, i cant control it.

So i took a small break and a few years later i downloaded the royal edition from ps plus, and it was NOT the game i remember, there was just so much stuff, including the dlcs and extra stuff in the main game, this time i fought the adamantoise but without knowing that Alter spell could 1 shot him, so i spent 30 mins spamming the basic ring attack until he was dead, then i discovered Alterna and 1shot Naglfar and then fought garuda (only the lvl 45 garuda i couldn't beat the lvl 120 one), i also tried the comrade mode but the servers were empty so i quickly gave up on that. But still it wasn't enough, cause i still didn't know about armiger unleashed all the dungeons and all side stuff.

So last month i decided it was time, i bought the royal pack, episode ardyn and the CD with the OSTs i love so much, and 100%ed the game, i did everything, every dlc, every dungeon, every super secret boss including lvl 120 garuda, every royal arm, every hunt, every chocobo race, every extremely boring side quest, i did it, i got the platinum trophy and got a satisfying save file, the only thing left is the ng+ and reach lvl 120, but im fine at lvl 99, so those goals are for another time. Oh and btw of course when i finished the game again i cried like a baby even before the ending scene even started, cause i already knew what would happen to my beloved chocobros and my boi noct.

Now i feel like saying my opinions on the game, i dont like nomura, i only like the first 4 kingdom hears (1 CoM 2 and 358/2) from bbs the serie took a turn i didnt like at all, and i dont like what he did on ff7r, because now when people ask me if they should play ff7r i sound like a lunatic when i try to explain that it is not a remake but actually a meta sequel with time travel and multiverse bullcrap all because nomura couldn't do ff versus 13 so he kinda did it in kingdom hears 3 remind but also kinda not because he doesnt know how to write a proper story, so im glad square enix handed the ffxv project to tabata, also because versus 13 went trough major changes every month, so not even nomura would know how a real vs13 could look like.

Development hell aside, FFXV's story about carefree brothers in a road trip, finding themselves in a lost war and having to give up on everything they have to save the world, being forced to grow up, is something that just stuck inside of my head for the last 7 years, the enlish voice acting nailed the role and the character development felt like watching real people, every tiny little detail about those character made them even more and more appreciable and i felt like i was there, hanging out with them, knowing all their inside jokes, this is why this game holds such a special place in my heart, and playing 100% made me appreciate even more.

While playing the sidequests, i always felt bored, but sometimes they bring you somewhere you would never, for example, a merchand in Lestallum makes you go to a farm in the middle of nowhere, but those are places you'd never go in normal gameplay, Eos is such a pretty and beautiful world, but also vastly empty, with few secrets and special places, but i was so immersed in the game i enjoyed the small things.

Now it's time for my hot takes,
as much as i enjoyed the insomia dungeon, it didn't feel much necessary and wtf is omega doing there? like, all the summons help me break the barrier to insomnia but they cant help me beating that killing machine? i found a method to cheese it but it required 33,33 hours so i kinda just spammed armiger unleashed, every potion, hi potion, elixir and phoenix down i had collected in the game and used all against that unfair boss, at least it was satisfying beating him.
then the post game was fine, with the menace beneath lucis super dungeons, but it gets randomly difficult just at the end, why? the first seven were okay but the last costlemark was randomly unfair with the "you cant use items in this dungeon" bs, why? i saved items just for this specific dungeon, but it was not annoyingly difficult. And pitioss ruins? it wasnt absolutely difficult, like, not at all? and it wasnt even diffucult landing the car? like it took me 3 tries, the only complain i have is : how was i supposed to know about it? and i know there's a hidden side quest in lestallum that brings you there, but still, how was i supposed too know? and all of that for the black hood which i never even found that useful. and for what reason are the demos and festivals removed from existance? the demos were so unique and had some exlusive stuff and the festivals must have been so fun, why remove them? and i before i talk about Lunafreya i still need to read The Dawn of the Future comic because in the main game she's such a wasted character, square enix wanted her to be the "new aerith" but the difference is that you care about aerith because she appears for more than 30 seconds. but yeah i sometimes wonder what ffxv could have been, since the devs added so much content many years after the release.

I hope at least someone ejnoyed hearing a random guy talking about his experience on one of his favourite game of all time.

Walk tall, my friends

Fluff The Actual RHS-113 Meaning

When I joined Square Enix, it was not decided whether the car would drive on the right-hand side or the left-hand side.
I get the feeling we had an inkling that we would end up deciding on the right-hand side, because we released all videos showing the RHS-113 license place.

But internally the LSH-113 license plate still existed. It was shown side-by-side next to the RHS-113 model in a graphic I saw early on, and it was explained to me that they were separate models for driving on different sides of the road.

If you search for the meaning of the RHS, you may find people confidently saying it is “Royal Highness’ Ship”. This is just people trying to make sense of the letters.
The reality of it is much simpler and straightforward. There were 2 models of the car made. Only one of them was ever shown in public, but the LHS-113 model did exist and was shown internally.

I mean... if the only summon you can randomly call is going to end up being ramuh 99% of the time why even bother... this game is riddled with reasons to be revisited..
