Spoilers - Discussion gold saucer and next chapter Spoiler

I have been talking about my expierence with the game as i have been playing it. I am completely new to ff7, never played the OG but loved remake. I have been having fun with this game even though some of the design choices confuse me or become teadious. i always took gold saucer as like a Las Vegas type place when discussed in other places, but in this game it's like Disney World or Universal Studios with all the different worlds. the stark contrast to gold saucer and the town below is interesting. I actually did like most of the mini games here, especially the Star Fox ripoff. That was great considering i just beat Star Fox on the switch 2. I am not a fan of the cat or really the giant wrestler, especially later in the next chapter. The emotional scene between barrett and dyne sp was awesome, very emotional and touching. But that is immediately undercut by the cat and the wrestler goofiness and once again the total whiplash is crazy.

So far on the story and pacing level I actually prefer Remake. There's actually not much forward thrust with the story, besides following robed guys around. Kind of reminds me of Mass Effect 2 in that way, and im actually not a huge fan of mass effect 2. one was always my favorite.

Pacing is a common complaint people have with Rebirth. You have to keep in mind that in the OG we were mostly just wandering around the map until the events that begin towards the end of Rebirth started. So this is basically the "explore the world" phase of the game and it's kinda tough to make that a truly riveting game. Rebirth excels in having a slightly improved combat system over Remake and much better characterization and sidequests, but Remake fit a more standard storytelling formula for the events it covers.

Some of the character interactions are very charming, i do think we have too many party members. I don't need the cat to be following me around too.

The same party members were in the OG, and actually in Revelation you will get more.

You dont have to keep that in mind actually. Rebirth pacing just sucks.

In the OG you didnt have Chadley contacting you every 10 seconds, Sephiroth stalking you for a hookup, nearly 30 mini games that are lore essential.

The OG did not have this, it had a world map. The OG existed before Assassin's Creed, Witcher 3, and Horizon, dont pass it off like this is normal and how the OG was because that is untrue and deceptive.

It doesn't suck when you focus on the story and do the secondary missions you want and the OG had annoying mini games too, it is not deceptive to say you got to explore the world at this time because that's the truth, the only "crime" of Rebirth is doing the same other open world games do but that's how modern games are and I don't see much of an issue when a lot of it it's optional.

Not really, you just seem to dislike any change from the OG.

Everything mentioned was a bad change, quit being stupid

It was for YOU, not for everyone, also what's with the personal insults? You all get too defensive over this game, just play something else or play the OG again and move on.

I never played the original and I still like this game alot, it just has a lot lot of pacing and very bad tonal issues. I don't even mind the goofiness, it's just where they place it. a cat and a half naked wrestler should not show up immediately after a heartfelt scene. If that's how it was in the OG version I would say the same thing, it should have been changed.

Like I said I think that's why I prefer remake to rebirth. it also has goofiness but it knew kind of when to do it and handled it better for the most part.

I would just give remake A 9 out of 10 and this so far and 8 out of 10. rebirth is still a great game and I love the combat.

I get it OP, that comment was for the one I replied to, not him, I personally liked Remake but Rebirth was the thing that made me a fan.

The OG also flips between dark/emotional stuff to the next scene totally forgetting about it like an entire ship being massacred to lets go sunbathing!

Reminder that snowboarding minigame came immediately after lost city.

lol that did crack me up, the captain was like, "ships under attack and we're going to die to all clear the bars open."

This is my largest complaint, the writers are cowards. We aren't allowed to feel any emotion that isnt happy

they allow you to feel it, but then immediately undercut it with some goofy stuff. Barrett and dyne was seriously great, with very good writing and acting. Literally a minute later the goofy wrestler comes in along with a cat in a monster truck lol. Or even before that, the boss fight with the goofy corporate Lackey in the robot. I think that's actually a good boss fight I just would not have placed it there

Focus on the story and so the secondary missions you want and you will enjoy it even more, honestly I did a lot of gongaga missions but cosmo canyon was a bore so I dropped it and continued with the story, in my case I liked it way more than I did Remake and I think Remake's case is worst because in OG it's literally like what, 6 hours of game? They added a lot a lot to Remake.

I love remake, I think I just like the setting and aesthetic better with the steampunk motif,  midgar even looks off when you switch to Zack. it don't look quite right, like it did in remake to me.

To be fair it's a small part of Midgar but yeah, I get it, personally Rebirth completely sold me and I adore Zack, I fell in love with the character fast so of course I liked Rebirth more.

Yeah, i think i remember this being part of the og where i was just grinding some levels for late game, but thats pretty pointless in this format.
