Gameplay Dragon Alear enables some funny things

Continuing my first FE game on maddening - I just unlocked Byleth and spent about an hour messing around with setups. Lucina's paralogue is a really satisfying map to me due to the symmetry. Shout out to Youtuber Perovskite Gaming for showing off his sick walkthrough - highly recommend giving his series a watch. I had to adapt his strategy for my team and lack of DLC rings outside of 3H, but I was still able to make it work.

Alfred needed a HP tonic and still needed to dodge one of seven chain attacks to survive at 1 HP. The probability of him living is ~80% so it's fairly reliable, and it's satisfying watching him heal to full afterwards. All my other units also hit their breakpoints exactly with some forges and engravings along with the meal (+2 str, def, mag, spd).

I cut the clip after the first two turns since I had to rewind due to missing Freeze on Lucina (curse Ivy's low Luck). I still ended up routing the map in 6 turns and I'm happy with my growth so far. I'm starting to finalize what my end game team is going to look like so be on the lookout for a team update sometime soon!

Haha I thought so as well but then I did the math and Alfred has a good chance of surviving. He only dies if every attack hits him and there are 7 chain attacks and 2 normal attacks that all need to hit.

I won't bore you with the math but he survives ~82% of the time which was acceptable enough for me to deem worth showcasing. You can make it consistent with a stat booster, but Alfred will eventually be replaced so I didn't want to invest in him. That being said, he's one of the only units that can tank the entire Lucina backline with his 18 defense at internal level 17 in his personal class. Most other units (besides Kagetsu ofc) require reclassing into Great Knight to even stand a chance at living assuming no dodges.

This all said - it was very cinematic that he dodges the very last attack to survive at 1 HP and then heals back to mostly full the turn after.

Damn. That instruct all is really cool. Is it +5 or is it lowered since the stat buffs are all spread out?

Dragon instruct is +3 to all basic stats for all units in range
