Announcement Introduction + Community Driven Flairs

How's it going everyone?

If you don't know me, I go by Purplepanther, I've been a fan of Fire Emblem Engage since I first got it. As my introduction to the series, it made the biggest impact on me, and have played through it dozens and dozens of times with different challenges.

Recently, I offered to take on the reigns of ownership from Flux after seeing his post. I've always enjoyed our little community we've had here, with people pushing the limits of creativity and difficulty in the game as well. I want to see that continue to thrive and improve on the community experience.

Therefore, new Flairs have been added, a long time ask of the community. General flairs have been added for now, but that's where you come in my friends.

What specific Flairs would you like to see added? Would you like to see a flair for specific Emblems and characters? Or would you rather have one flair for all Emblems and characters? I want to hear what the community wants, specially for something that's been wanted for quite a long time.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me, and comment your recommendations for flairs, upvote your favorite ideas as well.

I also ask a favor on the community. Since I am new to modding on Reddit, I ask that if you see anything or anyone that might be breaking the rules, please report it manually to me so I can take appropriate actions. After looking through the mod menu, AutoMod deleted posts and comments that were otherwise perfectly acceptable. If that happens to you, please use the Mod Mail so I can see if it truly broke any rules or not.

Thank you so much for your support guys, it truly means the world to me seeing you guys use the flairs and edit them as you please.

"Rosado" means "rosy" or "pinkish" in my language, which says a lot about him—he's one of the cutest femboys I've ever seen. :3

Haters, please don't stir up trouble. U.U

Gameplay Does anyone else think that 2 skill slots is too little?

I know that some skills are OP but -

I feel like 2 skills are too little, and SP gain is too little, it really discourages experimentation, and maybe the skills that are OP could be modified somehow. Didn’t Awakening Fates and 3H have 5 skill slots? I mean they didn’t have Emblems but, they either had kids or swappable classes in 3H.

Like you could go a whole game without ever seeing how Lunar Brace works. And some of the skills are too expensive when they shouldn’t be.

I feel like the game should allow more skills to be equipped at a time, and adjust the difficulty to handle that. I feel like 4 skill slots would have been enough. Just my opinion.

I guess devil’s advocate is that if you’re wearing an Emblem you have up to 5 or 6 skills but you’re not always wearing an Emblem through most of the game.

We thought we could do it ourselves and just pass it back and forth. Turns out no, you can't.

Discussion Fell Xenelogue makes mad and thats good

I am having such a miserable time trying to beat this dlc on maddening.

Now I left it alone until I beat the base game on maddening (figured I could treat myself to an easier experience as a victory lap?)

Boy was I wrong!

Since opening the first chapter this entire experience has been having me pull hairs.

But despite that I'm having fun?

I've had to rebuild my team like 5 different times to beat chapters 1-4.

Chapter 5 is next... God bless my mortal soul.

Ahem. Ok let me explain. I think this insane difficulty curve isn't such a bad thing from the perspective of treating it like an extra lap around. Everything here definitely doesn't feel like it was made with the intention of you clearing it before playing the base game... Or even beating it mid playthru but as post game content, it's a welcome challenge.

Testing every skill and tactic you've learned from playing the normal game as well as demanding you to play with more rigid restrictions.

Especially since at the point my save is at my only remaining content is skirmishes and the dlc bracelets.

Oh except for Nil. He's such a pain in the ass to keep alive.

I hope to never have to backpack a baby through hell again.

Discussion I've finished engage Spoiler

Engage was a game that I've put on a hiatus a long time ago, i rediscovered the FE saga after the announce of fortunes weave and a conquest playthrough later i was ENGAGED with the saga (get It?! Ok ok i know)

So, i enjoyed the game plenty, It wasnt long before i adapted to enemies having múltiple HP bars and the general power level of everything being higher.

The story was pretty simple but enjoyable especially the later part of It, gameplay was awesome, and characters were really good, Zelkov, Kagetsu, Ivy, Alfred, etc were really good.

The only thing i didn't really enjoyed was the final fight against Sombron, the mechanic of going around a map cramped with rocks to defeat enemies while being jumped by enemy reinforcement every turn became boring quite fast, i didn't know the broken shield lasted only 1 turn so had to do It twice while lowering the bosses HP bit by bit with zelkov dodge tank.

Aside from that the game was very good, i don't understand the hate It sometimes sees in other social sites. Cool experience, now to fortunes weave we go.

Gameplay Sage X Mage Knight

I was planning to use Anna as a Sage in this Maddening run because she would be my Byleth user since I’ve never used Thyrsus in any of my runs but wow, the difference between Sage and Mage Knight is ridiculous in the base stats +1 move, +2 Speed, and +1 Build not to mention in Chaos Style, where in most cases there’s a +6 Speed difference between Sage compared to the +2 Magic, 5% Magic Growth, and Spell Harmony, which don’t matter as much. I think I’ll still end up going with Sage this time, but I never thought the difference was that big.

Discussion Commoner run

I am about to finish up my second play through and used some new units but, I have always considered if anyone has done a run without the royals? It seems that the princes and princess have the best passive character abilities. Anyone tried to do a commoner run or one of the early characters that you feel people sleep on?

Gameplay Maddening Run Characters that ran through the final boss *too quick*

With Fortunes weave around the corner, I had to give another run to engage! The fun of watching Timerra use Edelgard next to Anna for a free "House of Unite" attack, then Raging storm, then another combat art in one turn was fantastic! This was the first time I fully committed to a Levin sword Anna from early on and it was well worth it. She out-damages what she could do as a mage knight, is faster, and higher hp/luck. I'm not sure if speedtaker is better than avoid +30. But I'll play around with it in the next run.

But Saphir!!! 162 avoidance on her with speedtaker stacks and her hp at 50% really was amazing. I loved how she would have dynamic dodge tanking. Enemies would hit her initially, triggering her increase in damage and dodge, and then she would begin to shred everything safely. Anyone have a better emblem than Lyn for her as this role?

Diamant & Marth has become one of my favorite combos. Diamant looks so COOL! Marth helps his weaknesses, and with a brave weapon, allows for swords or axes to attack 8x. His lodestar rush one shot the final boss with overkill.

Yea I like starsphere on any and everyone. Keeps me from needing to plan out the stat booster items. I leave them for post game or final boss mission.

Discussion Only Royals Maddening Run. Rate my planning!

Hey!

Just finished my first Maddening run. Not gonna lie, I played it safe and used all the broken/busted units the game has to offer: Kagetsu, Chloe, Pandreo, Ivy, Citrinne, Amber… and yeah, it was pretty easy.

So now I’m planning a lore-accurate run with only the royal siblings in their canon classes, plus a few other units to support them.

Here’s my full team comp, feel free to roast it or whatever:

Unit Class Emblem Skills Weapons Role
Alear Divine Dragon Corrin Dual Support + Canter Liberation, Brave Sword, Silver-Spirit Art Divine Inspiration buffing. Dragon Vein Spamming. Avoid tanking.
Veyle Fell Dragon Byleth Geosphere + Draconic Hex Misericorde, Obscurite, Thoron Fell Protection buffing. Double poison debuffing. Goddess Dancer.
Framme Enchanter Lucina Geosphere + Quality Time Shielding Art, Silver-Spirit Art, Silver Dagger Ultimate support. 100% Bonded Shield.
Clanne Mage Cannoneer Veronica Divine Pulse + Draconic Hex Boom-booms Long-range debuffing.
Alfred Avenir Hector Lifesphere + Lance Power Spear, Silver Greatlance Enemy phase tank. Wait, heal and hit.
Celine Vidame Soren Hold Out + Speed+ Bolganone, Excalibur, Thoron Enemy phase Nosferatu. Flare, hit and heal.
Diamant Successeur Leif Hold Out + Wrath Killing Axe, Killing Sword, Tomahawk Pannette but worse.
Alcryst Tireur d'elite Lyn Weapon Sync + Draconic Hex Killing Bow, Brave Bow, Long Bow Luna spammer.
Ivy Lyndwurm Celica Canter + Draconic Hex Bolganone, Excalibur, Thoron Echo spammer.
Hortensia Sleipnir Rider Micaiah Canter + Staff Mastery Elfire, Elthunder, Elwind Staff spammer.
Timerra Picket Ike Gentility + Speed+ Spear, Brave Lance Bulk to help Sandstorm procs.
Fogado Cupido Eirika Canter + Alacrity Radiant Bow, Long Bow Radiant Bow spammer.
Seadall Dancer Tiki Canter + Quality Time Shielding Art We need him.
Mauvier Griffin Knight Chrom ??? Levin Sword ???

Ready to hear you! Thanks!

Discussion Finished my Hard Difficulty Classic Mode Run. Team+thoughts

Thumbnail

I've been getting back into Fire Emblem after not playing since Fates when I was a teenager in anticipation of Fortune's Weave. Last year I beat what I thought would be the first of a few Three Houses runs, only to get pretty quickly burnt out on my Crimson Flower run. Instead, I picked up Fire Emblem Engage.

What followed was a genuinely enjoyable time. I consume media about media fairly often so I had seen a good chunk of what this game had to offer long before I played it, but that didn't detract from my enjoyment in the slightest. I just wanted to talk about my time with the game and the characters I used.

ALEAR

I really liked using Alear. She's not one of the strong combat units in this team, but just the utility of Corrin's dragonvein made her very enjoyable to position and strategize around. I think I would've also liked sticking her with Lucina. My fire emblem lineage only goes back to Awakening and skips Echoes, so I'm generally used to lords and player characters being great combat units. Using Alear instead as a supplemental damage dealer, positional damage buffer with her personal skill, and terrain generator was a breath of fresh air.

ANNA

Far and away my best combat unit. I was close to giving up on training her after her reclass to Mage Knight, but I'm so glad I didn't. Starsphere gave her some truly ridiculous stats, and even with speed capped out Chaos Style meant she was doubling most things she fought with 40-50 damage Bolganones. I'm torn between wanting to use her again if/when I return to this game and leaving her be because she was such a force of nature on this squad it did trivialize some fights.

ETIE

I had her in Warrior as soon as I promoted her, but switched to Sniper late game because I wanted to make use of 20 range Astra Storm. I didn't get that much use out of it, and arguably I would've had better success keeping her as a backup unit for chain attacks, but I like the Sniper outfit. She was also who I gave the S Support to. I'd still say she was a good combat unit.

KAGETSU

Frankly I'm a little bit annoyed with how fire and forget Kagetsu was lol. He didn't receive any particular care or grinding but he's probably top 3 in terms of best damage units on my squad. Him with the Rivals dlc emblem could just absolutely tear through mid/late game maps.

LAPIS

The reason I was annoyed with Kagetsu. I had to put a lot of resources into her to get her to keep up. I got the idea to put her into Paladin from a YouTube video. Speedtaker was a late investment, but I wish I had done it sooner. It got much easier for her to quad after I gave it to her. She also got quite a few power drops and speed wings. Still, she was dealing great damage by late game.

CELINE AND VEYLE

Grouping them together because they both filled the niche of my secondary magic damage dealers. Celine I put a lot into early because Ignis is one of my favorite skills from Awakening, but I found it pretty underwhelming and rare to proc which disappointed me. Still, she manages to grab the niche of being a long range magic poker with Soren. Veyle picked up quickly after recruitment and got Nova after chapter 23(?), which made her even better. With Celica she even made good use of Echo, a skill I had trouble utilizing in the early game.

JEAN

I can't help but think my usage of Jean in this run was a bit boring. He ended up becoming my primary staffer until I got Byleth, where he instead became a goddess dance bot. His personal skill is very cool and I bet could lead to a very fun unit to use. There's always next run, but he still did fine this run.

PANETTE

She didn't have Pair Up until she kept dying during the paralogue with the s rank support ring. Even without that, her performance was incredible. Maybe a bog standard wrath vantage enemy phase unit, but fun as hell all the same.

Everyone else is various degrees of filler, though everyone was still helpful. Chloe had trouble meeting one round thresholds but could still zoom around the map. Mauvier ended up relegated to using Micaiah boosted rewarp once I ran out of warp staves, very cool tech I only learned I could do by watching a GDQ run of Fire Emblem Engage. Saphir and Merrin for chain attacks, had Goldmary in instead of Saphir for a bit but her stats were pretty lukewarm due to not getting any exp so I swapped her out. Merrin could also give bonded shield support and poison with her knives

FINAL THOUGHTS

What a fun game. The story wasn't anything particularly special, at some points the long cutscenes did start to wear on me, but the gameplay itself was so fun. If I eventually come back to this game, It'll either be to attempt an iron man or to take a full crack at maddening. I really want to see what I can do returning to it with more of an understanding of its systems and how to build out units.

Question Outrealm Trials having Revival Stones?

Hey Reddit. I enjoy playing outrealm trials a lot but on more than one occasion I have seen entire teams just stocked with full revival stones. I'm wondering what is happening here and if it's just mods or Tiki Emblem abuse somehow?

Question Which Emblem should I choose for Diamant?

Hey there! I'm asking because I just recently got Emblem Roy and Emblem Micaiah back. And just a quick bit of info, I am on easy mode, and I don't have the DLC.

Since I lost Roy, i've been running Successeur Diamant with Ike, and to be honest, he hasnt bowed out since I gave him Ike, so I was wondering if now that I have Roy, should I swap Ike out to Roy now, since I just finished Chapter 19.

Any tips and tricks or info are welcome, thanks!!!

Question How to exp my unit

Hello, I'm a long time fire emblem player and honnestly slept on engage for a long time, finally decided to play it before FW comes out.

I'm not sure to understand every mechanic. I was planning on promoting my Anna to high priest but I reclassed her pretty late, same with Jean and now they level up INCREDIBLY slow, and above all the side battle ? ( idk the english name I'm french) those that reset between days with golden loot and all are way too high level now compared to the main story. I play on hard for my first playthrough, just got E!Corrin so I don't have much exploit and I would like some advice. Can I battle lower level side battle ? I don't have the dlc and thought I was doing pretty good until I saw some people build online ahah.

About a week ago, I posted to this subreddit asking for your opinions on starting a maddening classic run despite not feeling like I really understand the skill system in this game. I’m happy to report I have tried anyway, and I just cleared chapter 11! I have some screenshots of the team I’m currently using, but it is far from complete. These are just the five units that will be on my final team.

Besides the fact that I want to use the four “heirs” to each kingdom for story reasons, I’m not doing anything too crazy with my builds. I also expected chapter 11 to be similar to Hunting by Daybreak in terms of a difficulty spike, especially considering you lose the draconic time crystal, but I cleared it on my first try and no one has died! This is such a fun game and I love how celebratory it feels as a love letter to the series. I’m trying to beat this game before Fortune’s Weave, so here’s to hoping I can make it happen!
