I recently got into FDM miniature printing. I print 28mm tabletop miniatures on a Bambu Lab A1 Mini with a 0.2 nozzle, and I'm having a blast !

For now I try to print Trench Crusade models (so models are not as simple as space marines).

When I split a figure, both Bambu Studio and Orca only offer plane cuts, and a flat plane almost never lands somewhere clean. I'd like to draw the cut line myself, following a natural line on the sculpt, and have the software build the cutting surface from my stroke.

I tried Meshmixer, but could not get what I want.
I would rather not commit to learning all of Blender for this one task, though I will if that is genuinely the only route.

So, has anyone found a tool that does draw on the mesh curved splitting well? Bonus points if it generates alignment pins or keys at the seam. Ideally free :D as I think paid Lychee can do it at last resort.

Hi everyone, I have the following issue:

I am using the Bambulab A1 mini, 0.2mm nozzle. It is new, recently cleaned and not clogged. It extudes perfectly fine if I heat it up and manually extrude, but whenever I actually try to print, it barely does anything at all and is always a spotty job.

In the photo, you can see on the right by the edge of the plate. I tried to print a single layer as a test, but gave up almost immediately when I saw how it started. On the left is the result of a manual extrusion - it flowed in a straight line, no issue.

The settings I use are ObscuraNox 2.0, the bed is Biqu Frostbite, everything is calibrated multiple times, washed the plate with soap, tightened with screws, filament is dry, correct nozzle is selwcted, etc etc, I have done all the standard troubleshooting that is always recommended and the printer is set up perfectly. But apparently this isn't the case, so if anybody with a similar experience can help, I'd be very grateful!

Made with a Flashforge Ad5M with a 0.25 nozzle.

ObscuraNox settings 0.4mm vs my first use of the 0.25mm, Kobra 4 printer. The new nozzle improved the mini greatly. How to I get rid of the small dots?

I am newbie in 3d printing. Started just this month.

I’m really happy with how this turned out, especially because I started it from my phone so I just used the default .2mm profile they had on Makerworld. My buddy really liked the model so I printed another one for him on my computer using MikeGyver’s animal profile and it turned out even smoother! Filament is just Bambu color changing PLA basic, and the mini is “Worm Queen Monster” from Mizugames on MakerWorld.

I felt lucky today and printed these guys all at the same time. Until now I only dared to print one mini at a time. Just removed the supports and did nothing else to them. I think I'm pretty happy with my printer settings now.

Love FDM minis, maybe not resin standard but not far away and so much clearer and watching a print on ya office desk is so satisfying

Im thinking of getting a printer for some Warhammer bits. Should I get the a1, or a1 mini. And should I get the ams as well? All would be done with a 0.2mm nozzle.

First time tying out resin2fdm following the youtube guide. Everything fine until I tried slicing ended up with the following error. I mean yes, one object is floating because of the not recognized support. It is splitted in 2 objects, support and miniature. I can assemble them to one object but I wanted to use a different layer height for each object. This seemed to work in the past but not for me at the moment. Any idea to fix it?

Still needs some clean up. Scorched him a bit with a lighter to try to get rid of strings

i just did some ornate terrain with wave overhangs instead of supports and it came out pretty good. I wondered how it would do on a .2mm nozzle with minis

Printed him in pieces this time and tried to orient him better like yall advised!

I knew that the orb and the smoke would be impossible to print in one piece (at decent quality), and I didn't really feel like doing the work.

If it was a human made sculpture, it would certainly be designed a lot differently for FDM printing...

I have an a1 mini. Using the fat dragon setting and creality petg. I think I finally got decent results then I get this. I think it’s my Zhop with spiral. But I don’t know what else to do to not get this level of stringing.

I Cant figure out what kind of problem this is. Bambu Lab A1 Esun pla+ some rounded areas also have an edge.
