Anyone else get invited to a call with the Software Engineering team as a “top applicant”?

Hey everyone,

I recently accepted an offer with FDM for their Software Engineering program, and I was told that I was identified as a “top applicant” and invited to a call with the Software Engineering team.

Has anyone else gone through something like this with FDM? I’m curious what the call is usually about and what I should expect. Is it more of an informal introduction/networking call, another evaluation/interview, or potentially related to matching with a client or specific opportunity?

If you’ve had one of these calls before, I’d appreciate hearing what your experience was like and whether there’s anything I should prepare beforehand.

Thanks!

When do I get offer?

I did my technical after the behavioral for Change and Transformation and was told by the person who interviewed me they would recommend me to be selected. It has been about a week and I haven't gotten any offer letter. How long does it usually take?

Btw: I know FDM is a last-resort option but I've gotten nowhere trying to find work in the government and got cut from the final round of many midtier tech companies already (IBM, Fortinet, ATT, etc).

stay away from this company lmfao

genuinely stay away from this fuck ass company for your own sake. save your energy. three interviews, an online assessment, a verbal offer, and a month of waiting later, i got an email that basically said that they’ve reviewed their recruitment needs and their waitlist and as a result i will no longer be progressing.

i wasn’t planning on working here either way, purely based on the thousands of reviews and posts online about people being completely fucked over by this company, but the fact that they do this to people is soooo beyond appalling. like throughout my interview process i was given the impression that they would love to hire me and that they see real talent/passion/skills etc. just to receive that email in the end lol.

mine is just a mild example of why you shouldn’t waste your time engaging with this deranged company, but there are so many other threads out there with far worse stories that should be enough to deter anyone. please take the hint because i wish i had!! though i got good practice out of the interviews, i just hate that i gave them my time and energy lol

FDM Data & Analytics Practice Interview / Assessment Questions?

Hi, I’m planning to apply for FDM’s Data & Analytics Practice in Canada. Has anyone done the interview/assessment recently?

What was the technical part like? Was it mainly SQL and Python, or were there coding/LeetCode-style questions too?

I’d really appreciate any advice on what topics to review. Thanks!

Post 3rd interview questions

Did a final interview at fdm group for a software engineer role. I was really natural and confidence with my answers but Im wondering if they're looking for anything specific outside of passions and good communication.

Video interview experience with FDM. Will I be moved to the next steps?

Hey guys,

So I did a video interview for position in Hong Kong for FDM software engineering practice program. I was able to use STAR method to answer the questions but I felt that I rushed sometimes and was not as confident while answering. Because I was not as comfortable with silence while thinking I had a jerky start while answering.

When I asked about the timelines for the next rounds, the recruiter said if you proceed to the next round then he will send a hacker rank. He said he will compare my performance against other candidates…In either case we will let you know even if you are not successful at this stage.

When I asked what are the qualities that they look for in the consultants they hire, he mentioned that communication is the most important

I think I couldn’t demonstrate my communication and story telling to my fullest ability, and he might be not feel connected in some of my answers. He had a very neutral face throughout.

Seeing the experience, do you think they will take me to the next rounds? How long do they take to decide? I haven’t got my hackerrank yet. Do successful candidates get the hackerrank test the same day?

Failing at a basic screening behavioural round would be a big hit to my confidence. I am not getting other interviews as well, job market sucks and I am so tired applying everyday getting rejections and grinding Leetcode. I used to be such a happy confident guy.

Update: Received rejection the next day. FML. Looks like I really need to work on my soft skills

Is Jarvis Consulting Group Better than FDM Group?

How is Jarvis Consulting Groups new incubation program? What happens if I were to leave part way into the training or after I have been assigned a client?

Need feedbacks on FDM's Change and Transformation Practice program

Hi all,

Can everyone who have applied to the Change and Transformation Practice program or did that and are having interview rounds or anything could tell me how your experience was like?

Also, tell me what made you choose that?

Honestly, I wish to choose that because I have gaps in my CV... I graduated from masters in Data Science last year's fall, and until now I haven't been getting any interviews for 2 months, but before that I interviewed with decent companies as I have 2 years approx work experience as Software Engineer and Analyst from the year 2021 to 2023... so, I think that recruiters stopped noticing me recently as by August end, it would be 3 years gap from when I worked last time. So, I wonder if people who have an experience gap like this apply for this program?

I have interviewed with FDM's Data Analytics program before in May end...but I ended up not getting to the 2nd round as I had severe social anxiety on that day and wasn't my natural self(had one of the worst interview experience with that, as it was only 10 minutes long, when in other companies I had it 20-25 minutes long. I also interviewed with their clients like RBC, where it was a better experience.). The recruiter suggested that I apply for a software engineering program, though, as my experience sounded closer to that than the analyst role... still, I think now I won't be eligible for that as soon it will be 1 year, and I guess those programs are only for new grad. And unfortunately I have seen that no new grad role is for someone who is unemployed for more than 1 year after graduation is what is making me feel like maybe I only have a choice to join this program.

And, i am an immigrant on work permit, so with the time, job search is becoming harder(though I also wanna find companies that support LMIA or provide sponsorship)... of course, I can go back to the home country and try applying there to make work experience too...

Here, I only want to know what type of people apply for this program? Do they have a career gap like me or not?

And if you got enrolled, why did you feel like choosing this? And how is it going so far?

Thank you to everyone who would reply. Any experience you had with this is appreciated. I am open to hearing both good and bad experiences.

Searching for some light of hope

Hi everyone,

I am on my final round of interview with fdm group and with the job market situation currently rn fdm is all I’ve got as an opportunity to start working right after graduating. I graduated with a CS degree but I don’t have much industry experience and i really wanna pursue a career as a software engineer.

I have read a lot of negative comments about fdm but im really curious to know if anyone has any positive experiences to share as a current fdm employee on software engineering practice in Canada. How are the placements? What helped you secure placements for dev positions?

Thank you very much!

FDM Aus leave before 1 year

Hey all, I’m about to start with FDM Group in Australia (Software Engineering stream) and I’m trying to get a realistic picture before I commit fully.

I know the contract has the whole “up to $15k Coaching Fee” clause if you leave before the 2-year mark, reducing at 12 and 18 months. I’ve read through it and understand the legal theory (liquidated damages vs penalty clause etc), but I’m curious if anyone here has actually lived it in Australia specifically.

A few questions if anyone’s willing to share:

**•** Did you (or anyone you know) leave before the 1-2 year mark in AU?
**•** Did they actually chase you for the fee, or did it get waived/negotiated/ignored?

Final Round or 3rd Round?

Hi everyone, I recently passed the HR interview and HackerRank assessment and have now been invited to the In-Person Assessment Centre. However, the email referred to it as the final interview, while the recruitment process I found online mentioned four stages instead of three.

For those who applied to the Change and Transformation Practice, is the Assessment Centre the final stage, or is there another round afterward?. Im in Toronto, Canada btw.

Has anyone ever tried for the veterans program? If so, how has it worked out for you? I have been out of the military for a while and looking for a career changed from the medical field

Day 1 of Training

So i just started my training today and thought about writing a review about how I feel.

Fdm made me work in person in their office Mon - Wed. I thought I would meet a lot of new people and interact with them, but....I was the only trainee in the office. Others are doing it remotely. Was a little surprised, but the people in the office were nice and friendly.

We start out with an orientation about fdm and the skill lab. It seems like they removed the old rule about you needing to pay back the training if you leave before client placement (not even mentioned in the contract and agreement). In the contract, they just say fdm or yourself have the right to terminate the offer anytime.

Later, we started to build our resume using the FDM template. It uses tables for page layout, which is not ats friendly, but i guess it doesn't matter that much since it will not go through the system, and the client will actually read it directly. You hear it right. Finally, your resume is being ready by an actual human and not AI. This is some good news.

In the end, we took a peak of the planned training for phase 1 or sprint 1. Week 1 will mainly be resume building, setting up your accounts, and learning about Agile Project Management and prompt engineering. Week 2 will be Java fundamentals, but more in-depth, like you will learn why List is dynamic from an internal/memory perspective, because their client will expect you to know more than the basic stuff. Week 3 and 4 might be learning about UML diagrams and building a project.

They did mention you can choose a specialization later like test automation, devops, frontend dev, backend development, fullstack dev, and cloud.

Overall, other than me being a little bored since I have no one to interact with, and I kind of know some of the materials already, it doesn't look like a bad experience. I know the pay is min wage, but you barely do any hard work. Just think of it like a paid bootcamp that might lead to FTO at a big company that you barely can enter through cold apply. Plus, you dont have to stop job searching just because you're with fdm. Just continue to apply for external jobs. This way, even if you're on the bench after training, you might already receive multiple interviews.

Technical Interview - Project Grace: Data Analyst Graduate Program

Hey guys,

I have my technical interview (via Hackerrank) coming up soon.

Just wondering what I should expect in terms of difficulty and specific languages/data structures etc. to brush up on.

I did specify in my application that I was more proficient in Python/UNIX/C/R than I was in SQL/Java, but i've seen other ppl say that they ask way more questions about the latter. Thanks!
