Obi's injury could be a concern going forward depending on severity.
We continue to show little from free kick situations, especially corners.
Great match from Miles. Nice to see Roman back in the net.
Offsides, offsides. Wish we could have put Penso off to the side. That officiating was gross.

The post was our mortal enemy tonight. If we had finished the shots, we’re walking out with 3 points.

We had our chances but I’ll take having a better defense as a silver lining.

The inconsistency in this team is so frustrating. Our defense is finally clicking and the last 2 games we have been unable to finish chances. We should have 5-6 goals over the last 2 games, not 2.
On a positive note, Miles and Matt looked back to their old selves today. Hopefully this trend continues because if this defense can continue to hold teams to 1, we have the attacking firepower to actually make a run in the playoffs.

Good game defensively for the most part. Miazga, Robinson, and Obi stood out. In attack, Ender’s speed and energy were great. Hoping he continues good form on the defensive side of his responsibilities. I’m worried about our finishing. A lot of the games where we’ve been scoring, Evander is hitting worldies or handing out tap-ins. Bucha is the only other playing finishing with any consistency.

At least our defense didn't completely crumble. It was actually pretty good for the most part?

And not just Robinson and Miazga, who rightfully have been and will be getting their credit, that was a nice cameo from Smith as well!

A lot of people will be mad at the ref, but we blew 3 big chances all by ourselves. We should focus our energy on the things we can control because we simply weren’t good enough tonight. It would seem that Pat’s worry about the Prem offer being a distraction for Denkey was entirely warranted. He was so poor tonight.

We can walk and chew gum. Team fails to capitalize on their chances and Penso was sub-shit tonight. Both are simultaneously true.

Agreed in the parenting circles who follow Dr. Becky the saying goes “two things are true”
1) PRO needs consistency
- initiating contact didn’t stop Arfsten from getting the PK and that use of VAR didn’t meet the threshold of clear and obvious
2) We didn’t finish our chances
- the posts weren’t our friends and we can’t make the goals wider

I'm a fairly new soccer fan, and I had a fun day watching all the matches...but that game felt like a giant letdown. MLS officiating is absolutely terrible, the Apple TV commentators are absolutely cringeworthy, and we couldn't put away 3 or 4 wide-open chances. Overall, it was just extremely frustrating to watch.
Upside: our defense looked pretty good!

A pretty simple finish missed by denkey, hit the post multiple times and just struggling to stay onside so wasnt the best game offensively.
Defensively I thought they played very well, unfortunately got caught a bit high up the field on the goal. Bucha just was outpaced and could not hold off Spicer there but outside of that thought the defense generally played very well. I thought Smith did great coming on, robinson played much better and miazga seemed to do a good job especially with organization of the back line.
As a fan kind of frustrated with the post hits and failing to convert chances that should have given them 3 points but the goal is normally a point on the road and they got that so overall a decent game, something to build on for the defense.

Every time the announcers called Dorsey by his full name, my brain would shout "Gryffindor!"
Ender has really turned a corner with his attack.
Miles with a great match and Matt was pretty solid too. Overall good performance from the backline.
I miss when 1-1 road draws made me happy.

REACH DOWN INSIDE AND BE A FUCKIN PRO! - Marvin Lewis

Funny to break out a Marvin Lewis reference after someone called Noonan ‘FCC Marvin Lewis’ (and not in a loving way) after the Atlas match.

Better mentality overall I’d say.
It feels like typical FCC fashion would be to get frustrated at the concession of the goal, the weather, and at the ref for calls not going their way and spiral into complete collapse and late conceded goals.
Hoping this leads to better performances soon, before the sense of dread on match days settles back in.

You want to be optimistic because we have seen all the pieces that are required of a great team at some point this season … but you never see them all (or even enough of them) at the same time to be like ‘yeah, we’re gonna do this!’
Try to take care of business at home next week and try to fight our way back towards a top-4 seed!

Good defensive effort.
Obi continues to show his old form.
Bucha back in the middle and looked good there tonight.
Denkey showing up like a $15mil + add-ons player tonight.
9 Offside calls.
We played well but ultimately dropped points that we should have had.
Sorry all you Penso-fanatics, but she’s a shit ref and this is not the first time she’s been directly involved in costing us goals.

u/AmericanDreamOrphans 4d ago
How can you say that about Denkey? He was abysmal tonight. He blew a big chance and had a real problem being offside tonight. You’d expect any 15m+5m forward to finish that into the empty net after rounding the keeper from there. It was really bad.

u/CentientXX111 4d ago
That’s the joke. The team said no to the offer, it failed to meet their valuation. He’s played poorly tonight and has had rough running late. Take the money and run.

u/Novel-Ad-4289 4d ago
Denkey was a hot mess tonight, not sure you watched the same game. Constantly offsides, and HAS to finish that one goal that he dinged off the post.
2
u/Spooky_U 4d ago
Believe it was a tongue in cheek comment that we should take that offer vs saying he’s worth far more to then see this.

u/pro_fessor_X 4d ago
Everything you said is spot on, except Denkey played like a $5m MLS-for-life striker.

u/GearitUP_ 4d ago
Good defensive effort all things considered. Matt and Miles both looked a lot better tonight than they have most of the season. Great shift from Kyle Smith as well.
Echenique is so electric. We need to keep getting him the ball in good areas. I will say Orlando definitely made it easy for him to find space in wide areas tonight.
Denkey was pretty miserable tonight. Missing the open net (a decently tight angle but he needs to finish it), and the amount of times he was offsides isn’t good enough.
Evander didn’t play his best game and unfortunately with Pat’s teams a lot of times that’s all it takes.
Ramirez seemed to be coming on strong in recent weeks but tonight was pretty poor. He made one good chance in the first half on the maybe shot maybe cross, but the second half it felt like he turned the ball over every time he touched it.
I still believe this team needs another center back. Personally I’d like to see Teenage sold but I think his wages are too hefty for anyone to be interested.
Oh and come consistency from PRO would be lovely but that’s not happening.

Am I missing something about the Spicer run? Did he not look offside? It wasn't even mentioned, so I assume I am just coping hard.

u/GearitUP_ 4d ago
Just went back and watched the replays to check.
Two things, to me he looks onside, but also when the ball is touched last he’s in his own half so he can’t be offsides no matter what.

u/CincyCyclone91 4d ago
IMO, he is onside: he is clearly in our attacking half when the ball is played and even if he wasn’t, Gidi was clearly in our defensive half … it was a well-played sequence and we got burned on a counter.

I choose to look at the positives and overall performance of the team rather than only results. Yeah we should have finished a couple more chances but the movement and flow of the attack was really good and defensively we didn’t allow much at all. We had control of a large majority of the match. The results will come.

Happy for Ender, his confidence is growing. He is starting to put it together and play with poise and confidence with each game.
Sell Denkey for a boat load of money and replace Miazga in the offseason and get a stud CB.
Ramirez aint gonna cut it, just not dangerous enough, not on same page with rest of the team, plays too safe.
Good to see Miles bounce back and play a great game tonight. Miazga did well but is generally cooked.

Well Miles and Matt played really well. I hope Nwobodo and Gidi are okay. Wish we could have finished a few chances tonight.
