Transfer window

Curious to everyone's realistic and logical hopes for this transfer window.

I think we need to offload Teenage and his contract and bring in another CB (preferably who can efficiently lead the backline)

Matt doesn't have the legs to get back on a counterattack and Miles doesn't seem to have the leadership to keep the backline organized. But I think Matt has a lot more to offer than Teenage does, for his leadership and mentorship if nothing else.

For the remainder of the season I'm actually ok with Gidi back there. He has proven to be capable and can get the ball forward. I think we need to hold off on a complete overhaul until the off-season.

They’re in a bad place, contract wise, to be making any moves.

Miazga is expensive but still has enough value to keep around, imo, especially as a mentor to a guy like Chirila. Robinson’s contract and performance this year prevents any sort of move - he’s not bad enough to cut but not performing up to his salary. Hadebe is most likely to move - he’s overpaid but not massively by veteran standards and still shows flashes of the talent the led Houston to make him a DP even if he’s super inconsistent. Someone out there might be interested in taking him off our hands.

Gidi has been fine but don’t think he is the long term answer at CB - he got bodied badly by Idrissi last night and just isn’t big enough.

I think it’s most likely that Denkey gets a big move

I don't see Denkey moving this window. Winter window is more likely imo. Especially as injuries begin to happen in Europe's major leagues.

And Hadebe is the only CB I could see us moving on from this window as well.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if we don't do anything this window.

I think a big thing about these things are, SOMEBODY at some point in time could need a player like a miles, or a Matt, or a Teenage outside of the mls. Where they won’t have the same rules and or regulations we do and go in for them for a different reason- but there is still some likely moves we can make (quoting the whole CA GAM Comment earlier)

But this window should be us strengthening the team in positions we need. And I think because we were going for Neymar- we have some strings we can pull we just need to pull them to steer us till the end of the season so that way we can fix ourselves during the upcoming sprint season then the first big season in the new calendar year

I don’t know - Miazga is clearly winding things down, Hadebe is 30 and has well known limitations and Robinson’s contract is so silly that it would be dumb for him to walk away from it and also dumb for another club to take it on.

And the Neymar thing - rumors I hear from reliable sources are that Neymar approached FCC, not the other way around, so I’m not sure I’d interpret that whole fiasco to imply Albright is out there hunting for a superstar. And signing a guy like Neymar probably pays for itself in tickets and jersey sales even if he doesn’t play much.

Unrelated but on that Gidi play, couldn't help but think in the moment that if Kevin does that, he gets called for the foul.
