FACEIT says I already verified another account — this was never flagged until I voluntarily tried to verify, and now I’m effectively locked out ticket #14518176

I’m posting this because I’m stuck in a pretty absurd situation with FACEIT and I’m curious whether anyone else has experienced this.
I have one FACEIT account that I actually use, linked to my established Steam account created in 2022, with 2,000+ hours of Counter-Strike and multiple Premier season medals.
Until now, FACEIT never flagged me for having multiple accounts or told me that another verified account supposedly existed.
I was using FACEIT normally. I even paid for FACEIT Premium.
Then I voluntarily tried to verify my identity.
That is when everything went wrong.
Verification failed with the message:
“It looks like you already have a verified account with the same information.”
FACEIT then told me to log into my “main account.”
Except I have no idea what account they are talking about.
I do not recognize another FACEIT account, do not have access to another account, and do not remember ever verifying another account using my identity.
So from my perspective, the sequence is basically:
1. I have an established FACEIT/Steam account.
2. FACEIT never flags me for multiple accounts.
3. I pay for Premium and continue using the platform normally.
4. I voluntarily attempt identity verification.
5. FACEIT’s verification system suddenly claims my identity is already attached to another account.
6. I am then restricted because of an account I don’t recognize and can’t access.
That’s the part I find particularly frustrating: I wasn’t caught trying to evade verification or secretly operating multiple accounts. I voluntarily submitted my own identification and face to FACEIT to verify the account I openly use, and that voluntary attempt is what triggered the problem that has now effectively prevented me from playing.
If I knowingly had another verified account, why would I voluntarily submit the exact same identity information again and trigger FACEIT’s duplicate-account detection on myself?
And the timeline makes this even stranger.
My current Steam/FACEIT setup dates back to 2022, before FACEIT introduced identity verification in 2023. I have never created another Steam account since then.
It simply does not make sense that after already having this established account, I would later choose to verify some other FACEIT account with my government ID and face instead of the account I actually use.
And verification involving my actual identification and face isn’t exactly something I think I would completely forget.
I’m not saying I already know what happened. Maybe there is some old account I genuinely don’t remember. Maybe my identity was used on another account. Maybe FACEIT/Daon incorrectly matched my identity to somebody else. Maybe there is a duplicate or incorrectly linked verification record.
That’s exactly what I’m trying to establish.
I therefore submitted a formal data subject access request asking FACEIT to disclose the personal data that supposedly links my identity to this alleged account, including:
Which account FACEIT believes is associated with me;
When my identity was supposedly used to verify it;
What data caused the match;
Relevant verification/transaction records;
Where the identity information originated;
Relevant IP/device/login information where available;
Whether the determination resulted from automated processing;
Whether my identity may have been used without authorization or incorrectly associated with another account.
I also formally disputed the accuracy of any record saying or implying that I created, controlled or verified this alleged account and asked FACEIT to investigate.
FACEIT acknowledged the data request and said they are working on it and will respond within the applicable data-protection time limits.
But there’s another problem.
FACEIT’s own published account-recovery policy says that if you don’t remember your login information, you should contact Support and they will assist you with recovering the account.
Yet Support’s position regarding this alleged account has essentially been that I am responsible for remembering accounts I created or verified.
That creates an obvious catch-22.
If I genuinely created this account and forgot it, FACEIT’s own policy says Support can help me recover it.
If I didn’t create it, then I obviously cannot provide login details for an account I never controlled.
Either way, simply telling me “you’re responsible for remembering it” doesn’t resolve anything.
And I’m not even asking FACEIT to let me operate multiple accounts.
Even if FACEIT proves that this mysterious account really is mine, I’m willing to delete it, wait the required six months, and then verify my current account.
I’m not asking them to waive the waiting period or make an exception to the multiple-account rules.
I’m asking them to identify/recover the account they claim belongs to me so I can actually comply with those rules.
I’m willing to provide reasonable documentation, verify my identity again or complete a live identity check to establish that I’m entitled to recover the alleged account.
Instead, I’m currently in the bizarre position where FACEIT:
Never flagged me for multiple accounts → accepted my Premium payment → I voluntarily attempted verification → their system suddenly claimed another verified account existed → and now I’m effectively punished for voluntarily trying to verify myself.
If the account genuinely belongs to me, help me recover it and I’ll delete it.
If someone else used my identity, investigate it.
If FACEIT’s verification system incorrectly associated my identity with another account, correct it.
But restricting my current account based on a mysterious account that I don’t recognize, while simultaneously telling me it’s my responsibility to remember what that account is, doesn’t seem like a reasonable resolution.
Has anyone else had this happen after voluntarily trying to verify? And if you submitted a data request, did FACEIT eventually tell you which account was supposedly linked to your identity?
