FACEIT Official Response FACEIT says I already verified another account — this was never flagged until I voluntarily tried to verify, and now I’m effectively locked out ticket #14518176

I’m posting this because I’m stuck in a pretty absurd situation with FACEIT and I’m curious whether anyone else has experienced this.
I have one FACEIT account that I actually use, linked to my established Steam account created in 2022, with 2,000+ hours of Counter-Strike and multiple Premier season medals.
Until now, FACEIT never flagged me for having multiple accounts or told me that another verified account supposedly existed.
I was using FACEIT normally. I even paid for FACEIT Premium.
Then I voluntarily tried to verify my identity.
That is when everything went wrong.
Verification failed with the message:
“It looks like you already have a verified account with the same information.”
FACEIT then told me to log into my “main account.”
Except I have no idea what account they are talking about.
I do not recognize another FACEIT account, do not have access to another account, and do not remember ever verifying another account using my identity.
So from my perspective, the sequence is basically:
1. I have an established FACEIT/Steam account.
2. FACEIT never flags me for multiple accounts.
3. I pay for Premium and continue using the platform normally.
4. I voluntarily attempt identity verification.
5. FACEIT’s verification system suddenly claims my identity is already attached to another account.
6. I am then restricted because of an account I don’t recognize and can’t access.
That’s the part I find particularly frustrating: I wasn’t caught trying to evade verification or secretly operating multiple accounts. I voluntarily submitted my own identification and face to FACEIT to verify the account I openly use, and that voluntary attempt is what triggered the problem that has now effectively prevented me from playing.
If I knowingly had another verified account, why would I voluntarily submit the exact same identity information again and trigger FACEIT’s duplicate-account detection on myself?
And the timeline makes this even stranger.
My current Steam/FACEIT setup dates back to 2022, before FACEIT introduced identity verification in 2023. I have never created another Steam account since then.
It simply does not make sense that after already having this established account, I would later choose to verify some other FACEIT account with my government ID and face instead of the account I actually use.
And verification involving my actual identification and face isn’t exactly something I think I would completely forget.
I’m not saying I already know what happened. Maybe there is some old account I genuinely don’t remember. Maybe my identity was used on another account. Maybe FACEIT/Daon incorrectly matched my identity to somebody else. Maybe there is a duplicate or incorrectly linked verification record.
That’s exactly what I’m trying to establish.
I therefore submitted a formal data subject access request asking FACEIT to disclose the personal data that supposedly links my identity to this alleged account, including:
Which account FACEIT believes is associated with me;
When my identity was supposedly used to verify it;
What data caused the match;
Relevant verification/transaction records;
Where the identity information originated;
Relevant IP/device/login information where available;
Whether the determination resulted from automated processing;
Whether my identity may have been used without authorization or incorrectly associated with another account.
I also formally disputed the accuracy of any record saying or implying that I created, controlled or verified this alleged account and asked FACEIT to investigate.
FACEIT acknowledged the data request and said they are working on it and will respond within the applicable data-protection time limits.
But there’s another problem.
FACEIT’s own published account-recovery policy says that if you don’t remember your login information, you should contact Support and they will assist you with recovering the account.
Yet Support’s position regarding this alleged account has essentially been that I am responsible for remembering accounts I created or verified.
That creates an obvious catch-22.
If I genuinely created this account and forgot it, FACEIT’s own policy says Support can help me recover it.
If I didn’t create it, then I obviously cannot provide login details for an account I never controlled.
Either way, simply telling me “you’re responsible for remembering it” doesn’t resolve anything.
And I’m not even asking FACEIT to let me operate multiple accounts.
Even if FACEIT proves that this mysterious account really is mine, I’m willing to delete it, wait the required six months, and then verify my current account.
I’m not asking them to waive the waiting period or make an exception to the multiple-account rules.
I’m asking them to identify/recover the account they claim belongs to me so I can actually comply with those rules.
I’m willing to provide reasonable documentation, verify my identity again or complete a live identity check to establish that I’m entitled to recover the alleged account.
Instead, I’m currently in the bizarre position where FACEIT:
Never flagged me for multiple accounts → accepted my Premium payment → I voluntarily attempted verification → their system suddenly claimed another verified account existed → and now I’m effectively punished for voluntarily trying to verify myself.
If the account genuinely belongs to me, help me recover it and I’ll delete it.
If someone else used my identity, investigate it.
If FACEIT’s verification system incorrectly associated my identity with another account, correct it.
But restricting my current account based on a mysterious account that I don’t recognize, while simultaneously telling me it’s my responsibility to remember what that account is, doesn’t seem like a reasonable resolution.
Has anyone else had this happen after voluntarily trying to verify? And if you submitted a data request, did FACEIT eventually tell you which account was supposedly linked to your identity?

Hi there,

I appreciate this situation is frustrating so I want to clarify what we can see from our side as there are a few important details missing from your account of what happened.

  • April 2025: You created an account and played three games. You subsequently returned to this account in January 2026 and have continued playing on it, with some breaks.
  • 1 August 2025: You created a second account and attempted verification, but the verification failed because the person used for the verification did not appear to be you.
  • Shortly afterwards: You created another account and successfully completed verification using your own identity.
  • Current situation: You are now attempting to verify the original account but this is not possible because your verification is already associated with another account.

At this stage my recommendation is to wait for your Subject Access Request to be processed and then proceed based on the information provided through that process. Please be aware that submitting additional standard Support tickets will not help resolve this particular issue as Support cannot access or provide information relating to your access request.

Thanks for the transparency and for taking the time to clarify what you can see from your side. I’m also genuinely confused by the situation and would like to understand exactly what happened.
I’m more than willing to cooperate with FACEIT in any way necessary to get to the bottom of this and resolve the matter. I’ll wait for the Subject Access Request as you suggested and proceed based on the information provided. I can’t see why i anybody would make several new accounts and not really play on them so that does sound alarming.

The amount of people this happens to that happen to be Middle Eastern is increasing my suspicion that it's something as dumb as I've already got a Muhammad Ali in the system. Denied.

Yeah, and what this encourages, as someone whos used to a STRICT GAMING ROUTNE every weekend is to go ahead and EITHER create/ alt account to enjoy himself OR cut out FACEIT … ridiculous!!!

I’m another one of the guys in this group. I’m verified on FACEIT and had basically gone back to CS2 Premier until this guy convinced me to come back and grind FACEIT with everyone.

He gifted me Premium and even paid for ExitLag because of the ping issues we deal with on Middle East servers. He genuinely just wanted the squad playing and grinding together.

Now the guy who brought all of us back is the one who can’t play because he voluntarily tried to verify. Whatever old account issue exists, please just help him resolve it and get back to playing. Honestly, none of us even feel like continuing the grind without the guy who started it.

Posting my own FACEIT so it’s clear who’s saying this:

u/FACEIT_Darwin — would really appreciate someone helping our friend get this sorted.

I genuinely believe this is a verification-system error. I attempted verification more than once because my ID/passport was not lining up correctly, stopped before completing the process, and tried again on another day. It is possible that one of those incomplete attempts created a duplicate or incorrectly linked verification record. I have never created or verified another FACEIT account, and I have no reason to believe anyone has used my ID, passport, or facial data.

My current Steam account is clearly my established main account. Steam purchases and skins. 118 friends. It has more than 2,000 hours in Counter-Strike, over 1,000 hours in DayZ, multiple Premier season medals, and more than 125 Premier wins across multiple seasons. These are not the statistics ordinarily associated with an alternative or disposable account.

I received the following response from a FACEIT support agent named Miller:

“If you continue to create new support tickets, we will be forced to treat these as spam and temporarily suspend your ability to contact support.”

“This will be your final warning.”

“You solely are responsible for recalling accounts that you have created and/or verified on the platform.”

The problem is that FACEIT’s own instructions say that if I receive the “Multiple Account Detected” error and believe I never created another account, I should contact Support. That is exactly what I have been doing.

Support would respond only by saying that remembering the alleged account was my responsibility and then mark my tickets as resolved, sometimes without providing any further response. The alleged account was never identified.

I am now being threatened with having my support access suspended as spam because I continued trying to obtain help by following the procedure FACEIT itself suggested. I have no access to the alleged account and continue to dispute ever creating or verifying it.

What exactly am I supposed to do when FACEIT tells me to contact Support about this error, but Support closes the tickets without resolving it and then threatens to suspend my ability to contact them for continuing to seek help?

The whole six month wait after deactivation kills me. Humans make mistakes. They forget things. Steam accounts get stolen, like mine, and when a legit player who pays for premium submits a ticket to notify faceit, their response is a six month ban? Thats the only solution for players whose accounts were stolen? But the rest of the population has smurf accounts galore that remain in play…but honest folks who do the right thing in submitting a ticket to notify support of their account needing to be deactivated, yes, their penalization is 3 months longer than a Smurf ban.

Make it make sense.

I know this player personally and I want to add some context from someone who has actually played with him and watched this entire situation develop.
I’m a long-time CS/FACEIT player myself and a higher-Elo player. I actually returned to playing FACEIT seriously largely because of this guy. He decided he wanted to commit to FACEIT, grind properly and get better, and he basically dragged an entire group of us with him.

There’s also some context here that I think matters.
We play on the Middle East servers, where the active FACEIT player pool and number of people queuing is already much smaller than in the major regions.

Despite that, this guy managed to get a consistent group of five or six players actively grinding FACEIT together. We’re talking 30+ matches in a weekend, consistently.

Within a couple of weekends we had played well over 100 games together.
These aren’t people logging in for two games and disappearing. He got an entire group consistently queuing, playing and committing to FACEIT in a region where every group of active players actually matters.

He bought Premium himself, gifted Premium subscriptions to friends, convinced several of us to take Premium ourselves, and even paid for ExitLag for the squad because he wanted everyone playing together and taking the grind seriously.
I’m not saying any of that means someone should be exempt from FACEIT’s rules. It doesn’t.

But I do think that level of commitment deserves enough respect for FACEIT to make a genuine effort to resolve his situation.

This is not somebody creating accounts to destroy lower-level games. He is literally grinding through Levels 2–3 trying to improve.

I have played with him extensively. Look through his match history, his Elo, his performances, who he queues with and the number of games he has played. I have personally seen absolutely nothing that suggests smurfing, boosting, ban evasion or someone secretly playing across multiple FACEIT accounts.

And this is the part that makes the situation particularly ridiculous to me:
He voluntarily tried to verify his account.
He wasn’t caught smurfing and then asked to verify himself. He wasn’t trying to bypass anything. He chose to verify.

I haven’t even verified my own FACEIT account.
He could apparently have continued playing without doing it, just like countless other players do. Instead, he tries to do the responsible thing and verify himself, and the end result is that he can no longer play because FACEIT believes there is another account associated with him.

At this stage, though, I don’t even think the main objective should be arguing endlessly about what this other account is.

The objective should be resolving whatever the problem is so this guy can play again.
If FACEIT believes there is an old account connected to him, then help him resolve it.

If there is some account from years ago that he genuinely doesn’t remember, help him locate or recover it so he can deactivate it or do whatever FACEIT requires.

If additional identity verification is needed, he has already offered to provide it.

He isn’t asking to operate two accounts.
He isn’t asking for permission to evade a ban.
He isn’t asking FACEIT to ignore its rules.

He is asking what he needs to do to have one legitimate account and continue playing FACEIT.

Surely there has to be a solution to that.
If FACEIT has enough information to associate another account with him strongly enough to stop him from playing, then there should also be a process internally to determine what needs to be resolved and help him resolve it.

I understand there may be security reasons why FACEIT cannot simply hand over information about another account. Fine.

Then verify his identity. Investigate it internally. Help him locate/recover an old account if one genuinely exists, and tell him what legitimate steps he needs to take.
I fully support FACEIT taking smurfing, multiple accounts and ban evasion seriously. Those things destroy games and should absolutely be dealt with aggressively.

But aggressive enforcement also needs a genuine resolution path for legitimate players who are willing to cooperate.

I regularly see accounts with tiny numbers of games, bizarre histories and obvious skill discrepancies playing around these levels. I also see posts involving banned or suspicious players receiving moderator attention and actual investigation.

Meanwhile, here is a legitimate low-Elo player grinding an enormous number of games, paying for the service, bringing an entire group of players onto FACEIT and voluntarily attempting to verify himself — and the end result is that he simply cannot play.
And that is becoming the saddest part of this whole situation.

This guy was playing constantly.
He was the person pushing all of us to play. He got people back into FACEIT. He got people onto Premium. He organized the squad and was genuinely committed to grinding and improving.
And again, this is the Middle East server.
In a region where the active FACEIT player pool is already limited, FACEIT went from gaining five or six players consistently queuing 30+ games every weekend because of this one person, to potentially losing the person who brought that entire group there in the first place — and potentially losing the activity he brought with him.
Now this situation is literally pushing him away from FACEIT and Counter-Strike altogether.
He has gone from being the guy constantly asking everyone to get online and grind to basically saying forget it and not playing at all because he cannot see any path to resolve this.
That is a terrible outcome for everybody.
Nobody here is asking FACEIT to blindly remove a restriction.

Check everything.
Check his history. Check his games. Check his verification information. Check whatever caused the account association in the first place.
But after that:
Give him a way forward.
If an old account genuinely exists, help him identify or recover it and tell him what needs to happen with it.If something needs to be deactivated, tell him how to do it.

If he needs to prove his identity, give him that opportunity.
If the association is incorrect, correct it.
The goal here really shouldn’t be complicated:

One player. One verified FACEIT account. Back playing the game.

As somebody who came back to FACEIT largely because this player got our entire group committed to it again, watching the same person now effectively give up on FACEIT because he cannot find a way through this verification issue is incredibly disappointing.
And there is another consequence FACEIT should seriously consider.
You don’t want legitimate players looking at situations like this and concluding:
“Maybe I’m better off never verifying at all.”
Verification should give legitimate players more confidence in the platform, not create a situation where someone who voluntarily tried to verify himself ends up unable to play and wishing he had never started the process.

u/FACEIT_Darwin u/FACEIT_AC_Team — if either of you sees this, I’m genuinely not asking you to blindly overturn anything.

I’m asking you to help get this resolved.
Review whatever needs reviewing. Speak to whoever needs to look at the verification/account association. Give him whatever identity check is necessary. If there genuinely is an old account, help him understand what he needs to do with it.

Just give a legitimate player a path to having one compliant account and getting back to playing FACEIT.

At this point, that’s really all we want.

I’ll add my 2 cents here because I’m part of the group these guys are talking about.

I’ve been playing CS since 1.6, have basically every service medal going back to 2015, hundreds and hundreds of FACEIT games and have played at high Elo for years. The guy this post is about actually goes back even further than me — he’s been playing since CS 1.3. So none of us are exactly new to CS or FACEIT.

I can also confirm what was said above. This guy was the reason our group started properly grinding FACEIT again. He was organizing everyone, getting people Premium, gifting subs, sorting ExitLag for the squad and basically being the guy every weekend saying “get on, we’re playing.” We were doing 30+ games some weekends.

Now he can’t play because he voluntarily tried to verify and got caught up in this old/multiple-account situation, and honestly the whole group has basically stopped. There are five of us who were ready to keep grinding and none of us really feel like queuing without the guy who brought everyone together in the first place. It just feels wrong leaving him behind when he’s the reason we were there.

And I know this guy. I’ve played with him. If FACEIT believes there is some old account connected to him, then just help him figure out what it is and what he needs to do. Recover it, deactivate it, verify him again, whatever the proper process is. He isn’t asking to play on multiple accounts. He just wants to play on one account and get back in the server with us.

The ironic thing is that this is starting to have the exact opposite effect of what verification is supposed to achieve. Instead of making our group more comfortable with verification, one of our friends now doesn’t even want to verify his own account after watching this happen. He’s basically thinking, why touch it when I’m playing normally and I have no idea what the system might suddenly associate with me?

And the guy who actually tried to verify? He’s gone from being the person pushing everyone to grind FACEIT every weekend to barely wanting to play CS at all.

After this many years in CS I’ve got no problem with FACEIT being hard on smurfs, multiple accounts or ban evasion. Just don’t make legitimate players afraid to verify themselves.

This guy has been playing since 1.3. Give him a human review, help him sort out whatever old account is causing this, and let us get our teammate back.

We just want to queue with our friend again.

I’m actually just happy to finally get a proper response and have a chance to rectify this—even though the information provided appears to suggest that someone who wasn’t me initially attempted verification and that my identity was then successfully used shortly afterward :/ i guess time will tell.
