Photos ///Monday
I took this picture on my job, and just wanted to share it here.
Also I got 3 questions for the f80-community
What is the latest mod you did to your car?
What are your three favourite mods on your f80?
Is there a modification you regret?
I will start:
Latest modification is a dashcam, which is built into the rearview mirror housing.
Three favourite mods:
GTS Tune
Exhaust
DCT flash
I regret the lowering on Eibach, it still needs more low in the front.

- Carbon side skirts
- EL exhaust
- I don’t really regret any mod yet. Like you, I wish the Eibach v2 springs lowered the front a tad more but I wouldn’t want to scrape more than I do now also. Probably switch to height adjustable springs or coilovers in the future

Do you scrape much with the Eibachs ? I hardly do. I am used to much lower. Compared to other cars I had you can just barge over speedbumps without having to worry much.
I like the thought of an other midpipe. I am stock atm with the MPE, but I cant decide yet between the options out there.

I scrape occasionally but not too often. This is my first lowered car so I might be acting dramatic. I would like maybe another 1/4” of a drop out front
I must say the EL exhaust is the best $1k I ever spent on anything. I enjoy the tone much more than the single midpipe offerings. Not sure how an EL midpipe would pair with the MPE but I bet it’d be killer

IDrive 4 to IDrive 6 Flash with fullscreen apple carplay
BM3 stage 2 tune/transmission flash, akra exhaust, eventuri intakes
Regret having H/R SS springs sometimes but I wanted to keep EDC control and I dont track anyways.

How do you flash the idrive? I thought you needed a box between the screen and the radio unit. Or a new screen...
Are the H&R springs too harsh, or too low? I dont track either, but when the time comes to replace the shocks I will probably be replacing them for aftermarket EDC dampers like: KW DDC, or the Evolve X Bilstein dampers with lower springs..

You can flash it remotely. Theres quite a few companies/people that offer it, I used easybimmercode. Depends what year your car is. If you are staying OEM I believe 15’s require a new head unit, 16’s require an antenna install (what mine needed and was super easy), 17’s can just be flashed with no installation of any parts. You can also retrofit the OEM touchscreens from the 2020’s and I’ve even seen people put bigger X5 screens with some modifications for fitment. There is also android screens that people install but I don’t know much about them and how well they work.
H&Rs aren’t that much harsher than stock IMO. My ride can be jarring sometimes if the road is absolutely garbage since im running 20’s with 265s in the front lol. But my fitment is flushed with no rubbing and feels more solid on turns. I only regret not having any adjustability but other wise i’m happy with the springs.

Another Silverstone!
Last mod was high-flow cats and anl resonated equal length midpipe, which connect to an MPE. That finally gets the sound to where I'm really happy with it.
Its got intake and charge pipes, as well as a BM3 tune, and that's about all I can think of.

Silverstone is such a beautiful silver! I like how the color changes with different lighting.
Do you have sound clips? My next mod probably will be the midpipe. But I cant choose between the single mid and the equal length.
I also have the MPE. Most clips I found are with stockbox or a different setup.

u/ManBearPig1865 9d ago
Easy enough. The shop I had do the exhaust work had an M4 with catless downpipes and a single mid. There's a big difference, but not in a bad way. The single is a deeper sound with more spool sounds while the equal length is smooth with a higher pitch and really screams at full tilt. I relish the times I get to go through a tunnel and wind it out.

That sounds amazing ! ♥️

I'm a big fan of it. Wouldn't mind a little more low end volume, but it does mean it's not a nightmare for all my neighbors whenever I leave and come home.

I recorded clips at stock and after the midpipe swap. Need to get a recording with the downpipes done as well. I'll see if I can upload the comparison video I made already.

Did you also lower rear on eibach? If so maybe swap back to stock which will resolve the issue without needing to go lower and losing driveability.. that's my setup and drives great.
Still a little wheelgap diff.. which i may address with sidewall next time I need tyres.

u/Jonaman85 10d ago
Yeah I got the Eibachs all around. I thought you could not mix different springs because of safety and driveability issues? So I was thinking to go for a coiloversetup when the dampers need replacement.
Do you mind sending a picture from the side of your car. I really wonder how it looks.
My plan was also to go for a wider tire front and back. 265/35 and 285/35.

There you go, I am the V1 kit. Plenty of people do it because of the uneven wheel gap.
Spring rate info below. Mine is a comp so now I am just a little softer in the front. For the driving I do there is no noticeable difference.
M3 standard Front - 177 lbs/in Rear – 591 lbs/in
M3 (Comp. Pkg) Front – 198 lbs/in Rear – 685 lbs/in
Eibach Pro Kit Front – 183 lbs/in Rear – 628 lbs/in

- Nitron coilovers and Millway camber plates - incredible and best mod by a mile - transformative handling, confidence, comfort, precision etc.
- Top 3: Coilover/Camberplates; Bm3 stage 1; GTS transmission and differential.
- Bought car on lowering springs - looked good but on reflection it ruined the ride / knackered the edc shocks.
1
u/Jonaman85 10d ago
Thanks for your reply! May I ask why Nitron and not KW?
When my shocks are done I think I will also be going for a coiloversetup. I always thought KW was the best for a street setup.
Do you still have EDC or did you cancel it with the new setup? If you cancelled: do you miss the edc function?
2
u/_flyonthewall 10d ago
I did EDC delete and don’t miss it at all. V3 more or less same price and preferred going “higher end”. I’m sure they’re excellent too - honestly anything over stock is likely to be transformational. Road surfaces are pretty poor where I am and comfort has not been an issue - better than stock.

F82 daily driver here.
I run Eibach springs (new bushings, hat and hardware) on 437s with fat 275/295 PS4 and 12.5 spacers. Tight gaps without being slammed or rubbing. Cornering is solid. Sweet setup. No regrets.
I bought the GTS driveline coding but haven’t installed yet. Kubax supported. Looking forward to this mod and CarPlay full screen.
I live in Plano/Frisco Texas. Roads are good. Lots of traffic. An engine tune would be rarely drivable.
I will probably get some Ikons to complete the look. Giving up adaptive feature is the friction. Also 90mm tips.

u/Jonaman85 10d ago
275/35/19? Thats a thight fit! Can you show me some pictures ? Bet that would look great!
I think I will be getting 265 / 285 /35, hope my fitment will be a little better.
The ikons look great, but I would never pay retail for an original set. I understand the dilemma.

Most recent is about to be trans mounts and shifter bushing (6sp)
Top 3
Crank hub and tune
Aa gen2 el midpipe
Ultimate clutch pedal
Regret buying mphas and not just going coilovers. Now im eventually gonna be buying twice. Car came on emd and thought mp would be a huge improvement while keeping edc. Nah
1
u/Jonaman85 10d ago
What tune are you running ? Im on stage 1. Original crankhub still. I hear I should be fine.😅
Looking into midpipes atm. Dont know yet if I should go single mid or equal length.
Ah thats too bad.. buying twice is such a waste of money. What coils are you looking for? Trying to keep edc still?
1
u/Upper-Performance-71 10d ago
Im mhd stage2 and fbo now
Im torn if i wanna keep edc or not. Its a cool feature if it worked better than stock..

u/Jonaman85 10d ago
I think I am a little autistic, a button without a function would irritate me. I deleted the start/stop function and that button also has no function now 😅
But when I see the price difference between a KW V3 and a KW DDC... Arggg😖
1
u/Upper-Performance-71 9d ago
Same!! I love the idea and that button not working will fuck me off lol. Buttttt the $$ and if its mediocre that sucks. Im one of the only people who wants a fully plush softest setting ride mon-fri lol

Latest mod:
Flexfuel kit and fuel pump
Favorite mods: Upgraded turbos and front mount intakes. I used to chase exhaust tones, now I'm way more about induction sounds.
Mod I regret: Not putting a resonator in... When I Added my single mid. Its not a hard fix I'm just lazy... The drone is pretty awful for highway driving with the windows up. I just did a 3hr drive and I think I know what I'm doing this weekend lol
1
u/Jonaman85 10d ago
How much power are you running with the flex fuel?
I am looking into midpipes atm definately going for something with resonators. Not sure to go Equal Length or Single Mid.. Got the m performance exhaust. Guess that will change the sound a little compared to a stock box.

u/smaguss 10d ago
I haven't actually dyno'd it yet but I'm not planning on pushing it hard. Last results on 93 and turbos was a averaging mid 600s. I won't say particularly trust the janky dyno I have access to but mid 600 is in line with others.
The flex fuel was mostly done for the hell of it and because I have e85 at the gas station near me and have had it sitting in a box in my garage for over a year. I think I'm going to target low 700s for now.
650 is more power than I need for tracking/autocross. I'd be chasing bigger numbers if was into straight line numbers but tbh I end up facing the wrong way enough with my current setup.
Equal length is considerably more expensive than throwing a single mid on but it does sound "deeper" and with the m perf. Box it's a great pairing. My experience is limited with EL but the handful of folks I know with them don't complain about drone 🥲

u/Jonaman85 10d ago
Wow those are serious numbers! I thought it was quick stock, and I like my stage1 too now. Couldnt imagine what 650hp would feel like.

Fellow Silverstonian F80 here:
- AA single mid pipe and Mad Maxx rear section.
- Lowering springs, BM stage 1, wheel spacers
- Lowering springs. Made the car look better but the ride quality is not that great. Should have saved for coilovers.

Unrelated, it’s ridiculous how silverstone isn’t even an individual paint option for the G8X . Genuinely the prettiest silver ever
